My very speedy runway thoughts ... Emilio - Very pretty, love the color and flow. Wendy - I actually like elements of this, the prints, the flow of the blouse, but overall it is too low-brow Anthony Ryan - A good idea, awkwardly executed. Not sold on the color scheme. Casanova - Love love love the color, the shape gives a nice 70's vibe, with the ribbon/corded back making it more modern. Suede - I like the color, but the entire thing is over-designed for a party dress. Very Roman Spectacle. Interesting elements, but too many of them. Andre - Very pretty colors, but the outfit is a bit plain/simple I think. I like the low back, but the over-jacket thing is ... unnecessary. Ivy - Awkward fitting/shape, hate the gold-studded or whatever edging on the top of the bodice, the sheer skirt over shorts thing is just ... not good. And the particular color of green just totally doesn't fit what she did with it. Uli - Very fun! Very pretty! I love the flow and flirt of the dress, love the fabric! Very very nice! Joshua - I love the color, but I don't like the front of the top - the lapels and all. The squared cut out in the back is nice, but I don't like the trip or chain or whatever running just below the cut out is not working for me. Laura - I like the jumper/jumpsuit thing - the print is nice, it has a good flow. Don't care for the jacket much. Althea - The colors are lovely, but that bodice is either overworked or clumsily done or both. I can sort of see where she was going with this, but she did not get there. Kayne - Too 70s', not updated enough, I'm thinking. The pants have some fit issues. How fun to see these folks again! Wendy, even! Though I liked her outfit better than Andre's. Andre is just imploding before our eyes!

Speaking of Teh Kewt, The Denisof family at Hallowe'en is pretty damned extreme in its themed cuteness. Julia, and somehow I suspect Alexis is the driving force in the dress-up.

Hey Julia - Got shaking?
My seismic shaker software just shook my monitor after a 2.5 hit the Seattle-Tacoma urban area.

Hey Julia - Got shaking? My seismic shaker software just shook my monitor after a 2.5 hit the Seattle-Tacoma urban area. It's a 3.0 when a big truck goes by, so probably not (will check my sources for exact location, back in a minute). Yeah, no: that's two major transverse faults to my north-east, so the shaking was limited to a very narrow part of the Renton Highlands. I'm sort of surprised it got out-of-local-area press coverage, being as how it was a sample of the kind of quake we get 3-4 times a month, minimum, and nobody notices unless the epicenter is literally in their back yard. Julia, this one was about a half-mile from my friend Botann's house, and I doubt he noticed.

People! Remember when I recommended Veronica Mars? I think most of you enjoyed that. ARROW: loving it. 3 episodes just getting better and better. Even the tiny supporting roles are well done. I re-watched the ep. Haven't done that since ..... well, probably Buffy, Angel or VM. (Have seen Firefly eps repeatedly now but not at the time). Can't wait for next Wed.

Julia, this one was about a half-mile from my friend Botann's house, and I doubt he noticed. I was going to put more in this reply, but it took me a while to figure out the new site format to make it do what I needed to. Anyway, in the week before that microquake, there were 20 measurable earthquakes within a circle with me at the center and this morning's event on the NNE edge; most of them were smaller, one of them was bigger. None of them made the local news- very occassionally a 2 or three causes some sort of damage at the epicenter, breaks glass or makes a bell ring or very, very rarely triggers a small mudslide, but mostly they don't do anything noticible and don't make the news. (as an aside: the Haida Gwai quake has, so far, has 285 aftershocks, all of them above 4.0: it's not being covered either , and that shows a good grasp of what's important in the world today). It isn't just because we're used to it, it's because the terraine around here damps the movement from all but big quakes. in the Puget Lowlands, the ground is criss-crossed by faults, from the ground movement related to the subduction zone and from ancillary cracking caused by montane and continental glaciations. The glaciers pushed the ground down about 2 miles below where it wants to be, and it's still rising, which is what causes a lot of the smaller quakes, but more importantly there's a bunch of discontinuous broken bits of bedrock which don't communicate vibration very well (think about how you can tell if a piece of china has a crack by pinging it with your fingernail) so any given small quake doesn't shake much ground. Julia, killing time because the day is over, it's been a long week, and I've just had a big steak burrito because I couldn't get my BG up and decided to have early dinner.

Had a lovely visit with Jacob and Jesse and Val this weekend. We (Jacob, Jesse, and I) decided that it was time to get another cat, since Val's been so lonely. So we went to the animal shelter, and got a kitten, a girl this time. They have to do a reference check and spay her next week, and then Jesse and Jacob will take her home with them. Not sure if I will be able to spend more time with her more before I go out west again in 2 weeks.
Anyway, I'm still trying to find a name for her. She's curious and likes to play, but doesn't need that much attention. (That was Jacob's stipulation, Jesse and I probably would have taken the first cat we saw). I want to choose a name from a sci fi/fantasy character.
Possible name choices I'm entertaining:
Farscape: Aeryn, Chiana, or Skikozu
Dune: Irulan, Chani, Alia, or Ghanima
Babylon 5: Dalenn or Lyta
Prydain Chronicles: Eilonwy
Lord of the Rings: Awren or Eowyn
Battlestar Galactica: Starbuck or Athena
Deep Space Nine: Jadzia or Kira
BTVS/ATS: Drusilla or Darla
Earth 2: Devon
Let me know what you guys think so I can try to narrow this down. And I'll post a picture for y'all.

I like Chiana.
Also -- I think the wonky time stamp was because Proboards doesn't know when Daylight Savings Ends.
TONIGHT!
So, since I "fixed" my time stamp I'll probably have to revert to the correct label (Central) sometime in the next few weeks when they get around to adjusting their fix.
Or, maybe I'm just crazy.

Very little that's more fun than a new kitten. Be happy with each other. Bob entered the Montrose Beer and Gun Club's ("Death before dishonor! Beer before breakfast!) annual charity chili cookoff. Lots of people tried his chili. Everyone said it was the best here. He didn't win. I'm supposing it was too spicy. I'm on the couch. Long day and much tired. Being the support is wearing. Now am thinking dinner and maybe bed? BTW, not wating PR Allstars. Too much Heidi in too little time.

Awww, little fuzzy kitten *melts from the cute* Tomorrow is Aged Mum Day. I've already told her several times that I am probably not up to doing everything on her list. Some of it involves moving boxes and bags full of heavy books, dragging a trunk out from under the TV cabinet in her bedroom, and trotting back and forth with various garments, none of which will be the one she wants, then putting everything back as it was. I think she's going to have to wait on that one. Of course, I'm the only person in the world she wants to do all that heavy lifting, nobody else could possible be capable. Grrrrr. Also, how hard is it to look in AM's closet for a large blue zippered hatbox? Especially one with a big manila tag tied onto the handle? Guess who gets to play "find the object in plain sight" again. Have a good Sunday, S'cubies, and if you can't be good, be clever. PS I just ordered Castle S4 for us; Aged Mum of course got hers as soon as it was released. Younger Daughter is hooked good and proper. She eats lunch, when she's home, and dinner, in the den and watches DVDs. I've been hearing a lot of chortling since she started this one. We're also getting the first season of Homeland; Husband mentioned wanting to see it, and anything with Damien Lewis is fine by me, and at the moment it's 50% off on Amazon, so...

I'm doing my usual November hunker down right now; you'd think that I'd be sued to it by now, but it always hits me like an ambush, how early the dark comes when daylight savings comes. Julia, on the other hand, one day closer to the day the sun comes back...
