Judging ... Sonjia - Heidi loves it, the color and the bareness, Nina has problems, Michael hates it - looks old lady ice skating costume. Zoe Saldana (luv huh!!) thinks it looks unfinished. Christopher - They like the make-up, a little goth/Victorian, with a few costumey bits (the hairy/feathery arms), construction on the hips and not enough in the bust. Too many ideas on one dress, they love the back (I would agree with Heidi that the back is better than the front). Dmitry - Amazing, looks good from any angle, they love the peek-a-boo side of the skirt, shoulders are a bit costumey with the vampira collar cheapens the look, impeccable work. Fabio - Jacket is fantastic, the bottom is not liked, funeral, not flattering, jacket is fabulous - and you can turn it around and have it give a totally different look, but the dress is shapeless (yes, that is what is causing it to look heavy, I think). Melissa - Looks great, wonderful that it is separates, skirt is interesting and flattering, like that she works with leather, they love the color, like the drama of the collar, Nina thinks the skirt is too long, Heidi thinks it is ugly. Zoe thinks it is very avant garde, flattering, beautiful, it is art. So, who is going on to Fashion Week and who is tossed? Dmitry wins. Christopher and Melissa and Fabio are also going to Fashion Week. And they toss Sonjia. Damn. It's tough to see any of them not make it to the final show - I'm not sure I wouldn't have felt as bad for any of them getting tossed.

I always think of things like: cutting-edge, new, daring, not the same-old thing, the "advance guard" of something, not what people are wearing now but what they could wear in some amazing future, opposed to the mainstream. I have no idea if I am right. Oh~ kind of like the S'cubies! I'm loving the makeup and stick on nail polish. Hell, yeah, like the S'cubies! **high fives you**

OK - here ya go! To me, avant garde means that something about the dress has to be original and "out there." Perfection!! Absolute perfection!! I love her headdress crown thingy - it goes wonderfully with the dress and the necklace pulls it all together!

Anyone watching Grey's Anatomy? I find it very Buffy-like. Meridith can be annoying like Buffy was at times, and her best friend has all sorts of drama, like Willow did at times. Plus, a couple of hunky surgeons and the older, wiser adults in the room who are just as screwed up. Good times. Have not watched Grey's in forever though hunky surgeons are always of the good. Haven't been able to stick with anything in so, so long. I watch nothing now, except PR.

I don't watch a whole lot of TV, but I did recently get sucked into watching "Scandal". Drama, drama, drama and a Clinton-like President. Saw this on Twitter: Harold Saxon @t4rd1s This is the story of the day. Wild elephants come many miles to honor their deceased human friend who saved them: www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2012Amazing and moving. We should be as elephants. We can, but many of us have forgotten how, unfortunately.

Hokay, I heard from our insurance loss department this evening - they're offering $4229.17 as the net replacement value for the late 1999 Corolla. We're going to take it; it's even a bit more than we were expecting. Paul wants a Matrix like mine, so we'll have to dig into his inheritance from his late mum to afford it, but that's what the money's for, I guess. Now if we could both stop worrying about his commute, that'd be good - he's still not sleeping well, and neither am I. S'cubies

Good morning, y'all.
I did a bit of my own Project Ruway last night and hied on over to Lane Bryant on the other side of town to purchase a sweater I'd drooled all over on Saturday and put back on the rack after many a longing look at the $60 price tag; it went on sale 40% off on Wednesday and the one I got was already the last in my size last night.
It goes well with my eShakti deep-discount dress, and I have a new outfit that all fits to wear to The Programmer's 60th birthday party Sunday.
Julia, needing to get rid of a bunch of failed purchases now

I've decided to start working on knitting a blanket with the wyoming bucking bronco symbol on it. I decided that I had to do something crafty.

Maybe you can work on it while you watch the debate you're going to make yourself watch . . . doing something like that can make unpleasant events go faster.

Maybe you can work on it while you watch the debate you're going to make yourself watch . . . doing something like that can make unpleasant events go faster. Will do. But it will probably take me longer than that to work on this project. I've just been feeling the need to make something that will last, to do something substantial. And I can't work on gardening, building food stores, hunting/foraging, or any other type of thing right now. And my craft bin is in my parent's storage locker. So I'm trying to pull something together that won't cost too much or accumulate too many redundant tools and materials. I'm kind of making this up as I go along; I found an online pattern converter, but it's taking me a while to figure out what kind of yarn and needles and how much yarn and how big to make this thing. And I haven't knitted since I was little, so I'm going to make a couple test projects before I get started on the real thing.

Faire opens tomorrow. Catching up with PR before bed. Bob is working on his demon makeup. We're talking about replacing the living room couches.

I don't suppose anyone wants to speculate about WTF Sonija would have done with her gold lame if it hadn't disappeared, and whether it would have helped any?
Julia, sickish, today, and about ready to go to bed way, way early

Not in tune with my sig comment: went to bed not-early (Franklin got home at ten to ten) and then was awakened at 3:30am by Franklin's voice on the porch saying "Well, hi, big white cow."
And had to get up at 8am anyway because Mikey took the Hamburgs to the sale.
Julia, jeez louise

Hey all,
I read and I assume you can "see" me but I realized I haven't posted for a while.
Getting bids on new furnace and AC, visiting wedding venues and hotels, going in for exercise (pulmonary rehab classes), starting chemo on Monday, just signed up for the Mayor's initiative to Walk 100 Miles before 2013. So, busy-ish.
Also -- currently watching a lot of TV, although may have to cut some.
Elementary hasn't blown me away. Revolution hasn't really either, but I'll stick with it for a while.
I think we have 10 shows we watch together (NCIS, Person of Interest, Castle, Nashville (yet to be seen, starts Wed), 30 Rock, Last Resort, Blue Bloods (meh), Elementary (meh, meh), Community when it starts), Doctor Who (back on hiatus)
And some TNT and USA stuff that is currrently on hiatus)
He watches: Copper (which I sometimes will sit with him but that little girl is creepy and I just can't care all that much about any of the characters), Luther, The Office,
then I record just and watch while doing chores during the day because Jim has no interest: Once UPon a Time Fringe Bones (meh) Go On (meh) Supernatural -- rarely Lost Girl (on hiatus right now) Arrow -- starting this week Revolution
And one that I'm going to introduce him to: VEGAS -- really well written and acted. Better than Revolution or Elementary. More realistic than Last Resort or Person of Interest. More fast paced than Mad Men, but it's sort of like MM in that it's a period piece and based in fact. Set in 1960's Vegas. Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis, Jason O'Mara and that female actor, what's her name.
And football.
Northwestern almost went 6-0 today but lost to Penn State in the end.
Vanderbilt, well: SIGH.
