He does seem to be the most excellent of persons. Long hard slog- I'm feeling much better but of course that means I see the chaos and destruction wrought by months of illness, and have to try and get rid of it, which means I'm healthier but so totally exhausted and getting healthier never does any good for the insomnia which is a life-long besetting health problem. Julia, indeed, the healthier I am the harder it is to get to sleep.

I am trying the "backup messages" thing on the IMs. I never tried it before; never even noticed it before. But I noticed the "Scheduled Server Maintenance" for tomorrow, and for some reason, it got me remembering the way some people lost a bunch of IMs once. I still have some of Patti's and Nan's and Jan's, and don't want to lose them. Anyhow - there is a button at top that says "backup." I am supposed to get an IM in a few minutes, that tells me I can go download a zip file with the backup! We shall see. Have any of you tried this? Is it a txt file?

Huh. It's hours later, and I do not have the IM I was supposed to get in approximately two minutes, giving me a link to download my back up.

I know this is trivial, with all the things S'cubies are dealing with - but Shadow's disappeared. She went out in the back yard this afternoon, and never came back. I've been around and around the yard, up and down the alley and all around the block, Paul's walking a loop around several blocks, and no sign of her.
I feel like it's somehow my fault, because I didn't remember she was out until it was getting dark, but usually she's banging at the door long before then.
I feel sick. She's my cat, and I've failed her.
Edit: I just found her. I heard a little mew, so I went out and sat on the deck and made feeding noises (we have a special mealtime call), and then I heard rustling, so I got the flashlight, and she came out, stretching, from behind the a/c unit under the kitchen window. Wretched weasel-cat. I'm so glad she's safe and inside now, but she must have been there the whole more than two hours we were calling and searching and searching and calling...
I'm going to eat some dinner, now that I think it'll stay down.

She is a sweetheart. Indoor kitty, and so well behaved.

Something must have freaked Shadow out, because once I got her inside, she acted like I was going to snatch her up and take her to the vet or something. She actually went into enemy territory the back half of the house, which is Patches', and sat on the sink in our bathroom, growling and hissing. She got onto Paul's lap while we were watching last week's Leverage, so I think she's calming down. I wish I knew what was going on in that pointy little head of hers, though.

WE'RE HOME!
Despite a few glitches trip was full of wonderfulness. We saw Mayan ruins. I couldn't climb them because back was misbehaving, but Bob did and took pictures.
Rode a little train through Belize City and wonder of wonders, rode a dolphin in Cozumel. Pictures to follow.
Oh, and the Bobman presented me with an engagement ring, six tiny diamonds bracketing an emerald.
I am very happy.

Bah, animals. Blossom has died, poor mite; as far as I can figure out, Dearie stood on her and broke her pelvis.
Otherwise: frelling snow here, of the sort that turns to lumpy ice if you look at it cross-eyed. Work to do (that I did not pursue with sufficient vigor yesterday, mostly due to getting up early and doing a bunch of last-minute online shopping).
Julia, struck with a sudden need to check everything on gmail.

I'm saddened to tell you all that Zak has passed away. Poor lamb had a serious episode last night and we let him go in peace and with dignity, though it damn near killed me. I haven't been around due to extreme craziness in RL, but I miss you all and wish everyone happy birthdays, happy holidays and love and light. Zak:

Better Half, Julia, I walked up to the shopping center, paid way too much to have the package for my cousin shipped UPS ground (I really have to get my act together sooner next year ) and got my hair trimmed. I have been informed that my hair is thinner on the left side than on the right. It is, however, still very long. So there. I'm going to have a cuppa, then tackle the mess in my studio so I can make Aged Mum a fairy puta doll, and maybe make some earrings for the Elder Daughter. Right now I can't even get in there, because the floor is so cluttered. It doesn't take much to fill an 8'x10' room...
