Must break out some Xmas glamours: Patti went to a lot of trouble gathering these . . . such fun to use them when we were doing Secret Santa. We don't have enough people to do Secret Santa anymore, but hey folks . . . feel free to randomly post some fun things to share if you get the urge. Funsies! I'm watching the Charlie Brown Christmas cartoon right now - always puts me in a wintery holiday-y mood. To all my fellow Project Runway-ers - I won't be here tomorrow night as I will be out at "Virgofest", the several-times-a-year get together with some friends (we were all born in September, thus the Virgoing. ) So, y'all will have to chatter about the outfits without me for one week - go wild!

I got some good news this afternoon; my brother was planning to visit Aged Mum yesterday. Well, he did, and he brought my sister with him. Brother is doing a conference in the San Diego area, so he and Ratbag took the train up from Oceanside. Anyway, a pleasant time was had by all, Ratbag brought AM a belated birthday present, and either she or BiL will try to make it for Christmas. It's a holiday miracle. There's some local excitement going on right now, which makes me very glad both daughters are home. Emily got a message from CSUF that a dangerous person might be on campus. CSUF has been sending out emails and tweets and calls to all students and staff; it seems like they have a pretty good emergency response system, anyway. Turns out that there was an armed robbery of a jewelry store in Riverside, police pursuit across several counties, suspects got off the freeway in Fullerton, three suspects bailed on campus. One carjacked a car, took off and was caught in Compton, one was caught on campus, and one is still wandering around the campus neighborhood. Ground Zero for the search is right next to the English and Linguistics building, as far as we can tell. Emily was able to contact Prof Z, who says that their building is locked down and they're all fine. But I am very, very glad that Emily didn't have to go in today. ETA: Local coverageAs of Thursday morning: It appears that there were five suspects, two of whom got away around Cal State. They finally started letting people out of lockdown around 10PM. So glad Emily didn't have class last evening. Right now, we assume that classes will be on today, but I'm going to keep checking for a bit longer, just in case. Yay about brother and the aged mother visit, but eek! Scary message regarding roaming robbers!

Heh. I had the ragged remnants of my broken tooth out yesterday, an encapsulated infection dug out of the bone, and a bone graft put in; I'm on amoxicillin and took Naproxin thirteen hours ago and Vicodin ten and don't feel the need to take any pain killers right now, when usually at this hour I'm poking myself full of acid suppressor and then Aspirin so I can get out of my chair to take a shower. Huh. Maybe I was fighting a systemic infection and not just getting old. Ya think? Julia, amazing how I don't feel as if life is more than I can handle! On the other hand, my Visa Balance is back up over a hard won lower-interest balance Tooth things are the worst - many sympathies! Good to hear that you are feeling life-handleable, though! Hope things continue to improve.

I know this is trivial, with all the things S'cubies are dealing with - but Shadow's disappeared. She went out in the back yard this afternoon, and never came back. I've been around and around the yard, up and down the alley and all around the block, Paul's walking a loop around several blocks, and no sign of her. I feel like it's somehow my fault, because I didn't remember she was out until it was getting dark, but usually she's banging at the door long before then. I feel sick. She's my cat, and I've failed her. Edit: I just found her. I heard a little mew, so I went out and sat on the deck and made feeding noises (we have a special mealtime call), and then I heard rustling, so I got the flashlight, and she came out, stretching, from behind the a/c unit under the kitchen window. Wretched weasel-cat. I'm so glad she's safe and inside now, but she must have been there the whole more than two hours we were calling and searching and searching and calling... I'm going to eat some dinner, now that I think it'll stay down. Glad to read that kitty was found! **pets the kitty**

Ooh, Himalayans are gorgeous cats! Pictures, please! Ours are daytime only indoor-outdoor cats. Something must have freaked Shadow out, because once I got her inside, she acted like I was going to snatch her up and take her to the vet or something. She actually went into enemy territory the back half of the house, which is Patches', and sat on the sink in our bathroom, growling and hissing. She got onto Paul's lap while we were watching last week's Leverage, so I think she's calming down. I wish I knew what was going on in that pointy little head of hers, though. Here's my new baby: Here legs are so short, I thought she'd have a problem making it onto my bed. But she managed. OMG, she's wonderful, Karen!! Gorgeous, just gorgeous! So glad that you and your sister saved her.

WE'RE HOME! Despite a few glitches trip was full of wonderfulness. We saw Mayan ruins. I couldn't climb them because back was misbehaving, but Bob did and took pictures. Rode a little train through Belize City and wonder of wonders, rode a dolphin in Cozumel. Pictures to follow. Oh, and the Bobman presented me with an engagement ring, six tiny diamonds bracketing an emerald. I am very happy. Sound amazing and fantastic, Diane! I look forward to seeing the pics!!

I'm saddened to tell you all that Zak has passed away. Poor lamb had a serious episode last night and we let him go in peace and with dignity, though it damn near killed me. I haven't been around due to extreme craziness in RL, but I miss you all and wish everyone happy birthdays, happy holidays and love and light. Zak: Oh, Onjel! All my sympathies!

Bah, animals. Blossom has died, poor mite; as far as I can figure out, Dearie stood on her and broke her pelvis. Otherwise: frelling snow here, of the sort that turns to lumpy ice if you look at it cross-eyed. Work to do (that I did not pursue with sufficient vigor yesterday, mostly due to getting up early and doing a bunch of last-minute online shopping). Julia, struck with a sudden need to check everything on gmail. I didn't see this yesterday. I'm so sorry, Julia. Indeed - so sorry about Blossom, Julia!

BP spiking scary high and having a bad case of puffyfoot to go with. Worse, allergies have kicked in bigtime. In addition am having an anxiety attack the source of which is a total mystery to me. I'm living as nearly stress free as is possible.
Doctor tomorrow at 11:30. Maybe some answers then?

When Kitty had her anxiety attack, her doctor said that sometimes it doesn't hit until well after the anxiety cause, when things have calmed down. Like, in her case, a week later. I hope your doc can get you sorted out. Take care, you're the only Diane we have!

I didn't see this yesterday. I'm so sorry, Julia. Indeed - so sorry about Blossom, Julia! I need to get in touch with the young lady I bought her from and see about getting at least one other young 'un after the first of the year, as I can't move a lone tiny chicken into outdoor quarters all alone. Also because Dearie is getting to be pretty much of an attention-hog, and it takes me about five minutes every time I try to go out the back door (which is FREQUENTLY) to talk her out of her snitification. Sorry for the horrible weather I'm sending your way; my back yard is basically flowing mud, the passes have been closed for avalanche control around everyeight hours for three days, and it's all heading straight east along the Northern Tier. Julia, December is just needlessly nasty by habit, but this particular system is unrelentlingly horrible.

In any case, before I forget: Person of Interest S'cubies, I hear that Speranza is writing in that fandom now.
Make of that what you will, but it might get me into the series, even though both male leads are on my Do Not Want list.
Julia, still waiting for the next big thing with more than twelve episode seasons
