A big and to all, Haven't had the time to come by here in a looooooong time. Busier than all get out at work and my elderly aunt has had some extended medical issues that have taken a lot of my free time. Nice to see the familiar members posting (and some new "names" too). And new thoughts on Buffy.... always good to rewatch , rethink. Reminds me why we are all here at S3. TaDa..... have announced my retirement at end of 2013/early jan2014 so will have more opportunity then to get back here to browse and post and get caught up with "old" (not chronilogically friends. leftylady, who misses all the friendships here

I don't work (for pay) but I'm going to retire from weddings and medical appts! (and maybe have a few years before grandbabies?) Allison picked up her birth control prescription and was shocked, SHOCKED at what the list cost was prior to insurance. I explained to her that was what all the brouhaha was over the Obamacare provision to cover birth control. She was like: duh. How do people without insurance manage? She really could NOT get over the monthly charge.

speaking of TV: I've been reading all of the potential pilots ordered by the 5 networks. Some would sound interesting except that really, so many many sound like retreads/reworkings of previous ideas -- even the sci-fi and fantasy ones. Have you all seen the promos for Defiance on Syfy, starring Julie Benz (among others) The wikipedia entry makes it sound extremely ambitious: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defiance_%28TV_series%29

If anybody ever sees folk out on Facebook or Twitter (Onjel, Monnie, Pixie, Matthew, Rachel, Shan, Vlad, others) tell them I say hi.
10th anniversary of THIS board on April 27, 2013. (We missed the 10th anniversary of Alexandra's post on ScoopMe -- that was Dec. 7, 2002)

distribute as needed I finally finished the bead embroidery class project from *cough*last October*cough*. My shiny thing.Very pretty. I can't imagine the patience that would take. Erin ---- cool story! more, more! Who else did you see/hear? Me: every day if different but I've stopped going to the gym -- don't think my body needs the added stress. So no appts for 2 full weeks, no visitors, no trips. My gosh good golly : the TIME! Am working my way thru old paperwork, old emails and a huge stack of wedding related paperwork that I should have gotten caught up with 2 months ago. (sigh). With the invites mailed now is some of the fun stuff: getting them back (although if we don't start getting a FEW "no's" this could become stressful.) Thanks! Enjoy the quiet while it lasts.

I am not making a shiny thing unless you count the busk. I don't have pictures in photobucket to show yet. But Bob's making one too. Bob is making a busk? You're both busking? I'm looking forward to seeing your new accessories. How's the bag coming?

#wavey# #grouphug# still working on my dissertation. ... kind of badly. Tomorrow am going to Redemption, an SF con with lots of panels and talking and meeting other fans, and not so much with following guests around or standing in lines. There are guests, but I don't know if I'll go to their parts. There are important SF things to be discussed. Tomorrow I am also going to have to hand in whatever I've written so far so tutor can give feedback. That's... well, that could be a problem. Again. *sigh* Today shall be spent looking at my notes, trying to write like a grown up academic type person, and having panic. lovely.

I'm sorry about your a unt, but thrilled that yoiu will be joining the "entitlement" crowd! I retired back in April and I LOVE IT! No more 5AM wakeups. No more office politics. No more "we've got to do more with less!" or "I want you all to give 200%" (as if there could ever be more than 100% of anything). I recommend a couple of months of doing nothing. I vowed that I would take six months off and just veg. Changes your outlook immensely. The hardest thing I did in that whole time was reorganize my house to suit my new lifestyle. I'm so glad you've come back. Tell us all the rest of the news!

You're both busking? I'm looking forward to seeing your new accessories. How's the bag coming? The bag's on temporary hold while we both make Victorian corsets. We're taking a class online. Mine's an early 1870s version. His is a military corset from about 1880. So he's not MAKING a busk. He's SETTING a busk. Me too. Also sewing boning channels.

I still say you're both busily busking busks.
