Liz, Congratulations! Erinificus, a belated Happy Birthday! I spent the morning at the Toyota dealership because yesterday I got a safety recall letter in the mail. I was going to spend today at home being a lump, but since I couldn't, I am very tired. Tomorrow, I was supposed to drive Elder Daughter to college, again, so she could try to meet with her group, again. We have had a little talk. She's taking the bus and letting her group know that she might run a little late. I am going to walk up to the mechanic and talk to them about a written statement to send to Toyota in hopes we could get some money back on the repairs from last December (they may be related to the recall), go by the market and bank for a few things, then come home and sit. I might go get my hair cut, or I might just blow that off until next week. It's Aged Mum weekend too, and I am NOT giving up my Saturday morning just so I'll have enough energy to entertain her on Sunday. She blasts the TV, and she falls asleep, so what's the point? I'll do her shopping, I'll go up there and do her banking, pay bills and whatever else she needs, then I'm going home. For tough times and birthday greetings.

#cookies for all# I awoke in the middle of the night and realized that since I have to take the car to our mechanic next week anyway (new tires and a couple of small oil leaks, according to the dealership), I might as well wait until then to ask about the special magical incantation statement thingy. I did not walk to the shopping center this morning. I drove. I was therefore able to buy a number of heavy items, and also save some of my limited energies for working on the current French memo board project later this morning. Elder Daughter has just headed out. Since she had to leave earlier than usual, I offered to empty the dishwasher so she could sleep a bit later. So, trading of usefuls. Feeling somewhat better this morning. I'm going to turn on the radio, clear the kitchen table, and get out the stretched canvas and the staple gun. So there, life. ETA: Memo board all done except for the hanging hardware on the back. I've got KPCC on, and as loud as I want, too. Now if I could just figure out what to make for lunch... ETA the 2nd: And it's done, and hung up, and cleaned up after. Although I do need to rehang one of the bat plushies, as the elastic on which it is hung has gone floppy. But that's for later. Right now it's time to kick the fluffycat off the bed and have a liedown before it's Aged Mum Call time.

Oh man, Roger Ebert has died. I'll never forget sitting next to him at a reviewers' screening of The Road to Wellville, which we both hated, although he lied and said he didn't laugh once in his review, where I actually heard him laugh twice. Still, he was gracious and delightful when I introduced myself ('cause I'm uppity like that) and told him how his review of Dead Poet's Society had pointed out some problematic aspects I hadn't noticed. He seemed really thrilled by that.

Just yesterday I was just reading his blog/announcement thing that he would be scaling back his reviews and writing while he had treatment for the returned cancer. Great story about sitting next to him!!

Okely dokely, what is the challenge tonight?
Create a fashion-forward editorial look for Jordana Brewster (I have no idea of who she is). No gowns, no pants and T-shirt, it has to be bold - bold colors - editorial - "what's next, not what's now".
Hmmmmmmmm. We get to define what is the new look for 2013.
We need a cool shape, cool colors, something exciting!

New shape ... new shape ....lets NOT go big/voluminous. Everyone does that when they try to do something unusual.
Let's go narrow, sinuous, not skin-tight, but very body fitting .... A sort-of jumpsuit, but not entirely .... more like a wrapped-pants with tiny bodice and then an over-blouse in sheer fabric.
Colors ... gotta go bold ... and yet .... Ooooh!!! Make the wrapped-pants with tight bib top in a gray/black pattern with some shimmer to it, and then the sheer over-blouse is a neon lime green!!!!!!
**swoons in delight over my outfit vision**

Runway!
Michelle - I really like this, love the color of the pants and the swing and cut of the top.
Daniel - Huh. This is .... not very good. Looks more 50's/60's Sci-Fi rather than cutting edge. And the color is a bit much.
Stanley - Another one that I really like, at least parts of it. The flowy pants are ... not as cool as I was hoping. I like the flow and the bigness of the cut, but there's something just a bit off with the fabric. Like the top and jacket a lot - classic but fresh-classic, with the pushed up sleeves adn collar.
Patricia - Hmmmm. Not the train-wreck one would have been expecting from all the problems and drama. Actually rather pretty and interesting, with the asymmetry and all. I like the blue-green-gray color a lot, and the inset/onset rows are rather cool. Why was this sooooo complicated for her and her loser sewer to create?
Layana - I really really like the bodice, the blue leather armor. Not loving the skirt shape when it's not in motion, but I do like the juxtaposition of the heavy leather with the sheer diaphanous underneath and blow.
Time to post before hearing the judging!

Why, oh why, oh why, did they even let "French seam? What's a French seam?" Richard back in the building?
RE-FREAKING-DONCULOUS
The whole thing. Insane, unsane, countersane, what is wrong with those people?
Julia, it was as if he was intentionally and possibly under orders sabotaging Patricia

Hidyho neighbors!
Off to retreat with 90 women!
Doubt I'll be here much until after the wedding next weekend.
Watching the big storm system that is going to march across the south early next week.

Insane, unsane, countersane, what is wrong with those people? Julia, it was as if he was intentionally and possibly under orders sabotaging Patricia ITA. The guy was a total waste of space. And pairing him up with Patricia again was unconsionably cruel. Admittedly, I don't know if the pairing was intentional, but I guarantee that he deliberately did everything in his power to sabotage her. "What's a French seam" If he really had to ask he had no place on that show, ever. I believe he was deliberately trying to sabotage her. The whole passive aggressive show was so patently phoney. If Heidi, et. al., were aware of it then shame on them! I think Patricia's survival was a certain sign their consciences were bothering them. He should have been shown the door the minute he walked through it.
