Interesting list. They have some VERY obvious biases, clearly. They hate Riley and most of season 4 and aren't all that fond of seasons 6 and 7 either. And most Xander-centric eps aren't ranked very highly. So far I'm mostly surprised at the extremely low ranking of The Pack. Other than that I can't quibble over much with bottom 10 or 20. What I do recall is that even in the worst episodes there are always one or two very significant scenes/conversations. (For example, the ending of Reptile Boy and also the ending (and dance scene) of When She Was Bad. Of course, if you are going to RANK things some will have to be lower than others but they've ranked fairly low some that had very important plot/character developments. Were the eps that bad or did they just not like the turn of the story? (ex: Hell's Bells). I will say one that is ranked WAY too high (it might be my "worst ever" is Dead Man's Party); also Doublemeat Palace as high as #84 and Ted at #83? The Puppet Show at 79? ?(higher than "Anne" or "touched"? I think Ted benefited just by being in season 2 and also no Riley and no Xander). Look at the number of low eps in seasons 4, 6, and 7) Okay, now I'm realizing that I don't have so many quibbles with ones they've ranked low (I'm sort of thinking bottom quarter/middle half/top quarter as groupings and figuring that it's hard to differentiate to finely beyond that. So it's some of the ones that are totally out of sync that pop out at me: Gingerbread in the top quarter? (#32) No, no, no, no, no. "Witch" at 25, above Earshot, Intervention and Band Candy. WRONG! So, overall I'd mostly pull a handful or 10 out of the top half and drop them down. Which would push others up a bit. But most of top 20 certainly deserve to be there. Of course, I'd probably up another dozen in the top 20 (which doesn't work, mathematically speaking.) But, yes, fun that articles like this are STILL coming out. I realize that this list is ultra-subjective, but even if you HATE Riley--how does that make Beer Bad rank lower than, say, Puppet Show which is a good candidate for the shallowest and most awkward if not the worst show in the series? Riley's relationship with Buffy hadn't started yet, there are wonderful insights into how low Buffy's self-esteem has fallen and it marks a definitive end to the Parker Incident. IMO, the first and seventh seasons are the worst and all the others can be subjectively ranked according to your Angel/Spike perspective, preference between children and adult points of view and how well you tolerate Dawn.

Interesting list. I don't get the hate for "Beer Bad" either, but it's nothing new. I remember that it was often disparaged, and that people seemed to think the message was "drinking is bad," and it was just some awkward story with an obvious, stupid "moral of the story", i.e., "drinking is bad for you." Of course, this does not do the episode justice in any way. It wasn't the greatest ep, but it was fun, and I LOVED the part with Parker and Willow - a great BtVS moment. The list wasn't bad in a very general way - most of the greats were in the top half; most of the worst were in the bottom half. Some seemed very misplaced - among others Ted and Gingerbread stood out as ranked too high; Out of My Mind and The Pack as ranked too low . . . I can't see "Becoming" as #1, though it is surely "up there." I'm not sure what I would rank as #1. Possibly "The Body." Don't know about worst - I did dislike Dead Man's Party. Puppet Show was not so great either, and "Bad Eggs" is not a favorite. Though even the worst of Buffy is good. And yep, it's neat that articles like this are still being written.

Puppet Show was not so great either, and "Bad Eggs" is not a favorite. Though even the worst of Buffy is good. And yep, it's neat that articles like this are still being written. Exactly! I don't hate Beer Bad for the very reasons you mentioned. The fact is, it makes two important points that are touched on again throughout the season: 1) the way "words" and "talk" can be used to manipulate (Parker illuminating, in a very college boy way, why it's OK for him to be a total douche, where what he really needs is a good clunk on the head)...this is brought up again in Hush, when no one can say what they mean until they can't actually talk, and 2) Cave Buffy could be looked at as a nice bit of foreshadowing of the First Slayer and the essence of her power. I will never quite understand the Dawn hate. I LIKED Dawn, and I liked the way, once she was no longer the "key," how well both the writers and Michelle Trachtenberg conveyed the absolute awkwardness of being 15 or 16. I loved, too, the way that Whedon and Co. turned the trope of bringing in a younger cast member to appeal to a younger demo on its head throughout its run. Dead Man's Party, on the other hand, is not a favorite, but I'm not sure if it's the quality of the episode or the fact that it is horribly uncomfortable to watch everybody turn on Buffy and not listen to her reasons why.

Wasn't there a button to select "new" (as in call up all the threads with new posts?) I lost it. I'm sure it's right in front of my face, but where?

On the front page, all the way down at the bottom, in the "Forum Information & Statistics" box, there are links to "Recent Threads" and "Recent Posts". I went for two shopping center walks today, did four loads of wash (it would've been five, but I did the towels yesterday) and ran some errands. Is it bedtime yet? I'm going to have to be very careful the next couple months. I react to stress either by not eating, or by binge eating, and it feels like this time it's going to be Eat All The Things. Lots of microwave popcorn, I guess. I'm going to be so glad when this whole surgery thing is over with.

Hey, maybe everybody already knows this, but apparently "The Day of the Doctor" is debuting at the same moment it's debuting in England, which here in the southwest is 12:50 pm.
Just wanted to give a heads up for anyone who didn't know.

I keep wanting to set it up for recording, but my DVR is still some days away.

It doesn't seem to allow me to do that anymore, so if I'm away for a bit I have to fish a while to find where I left off.

You know, it's November again.
Julia, I thought there'd be a cure for that by now.

Well, when I was much younger and less hormonal I was "known" to be very emotionally level. But for a decade or two I recall crying twice a year with great regularity: once in Nov and once in Feb. Whatever brought the crying on I don't know but it went on long enough to recognize a very clear pattern. So, I see both your points. It is no longer the case (now I cry more frequently but with less of a pattern) but there must just be something about those months.

*waves at S'cubies* I made myself go out to breakfast this morning. When I got back, I put on walking birkies and walked to RiteAid for some watch batteries and then around the shopping center, instead of just driving while I was still out in the car. So that's five (count 'em, V, 5) walkies this week. Yippee go me. I'm fighting with anxiety tummy again. It's going to be a long couple of months... *refills basket of brackets* *replenishes supplies of cookies, chocolates and tea* *goes back to three-year-old corner and hides behind the tiger*

I'm finished with my surgery rotation, which thankfully not that painful. Starting Night Float on Monday, so I'm trying to shift my sleep schedule this weekend.
