The good news is, I finally remembered to make an appointment for my car at the dealership - there's another airbag recall notice I haven't had time to deal with. The bad news is, I get to spend an indeterminate number of hours at the dealership tomorrow. It's supposed to take about an hour, but the last one was supposed to take about an hour, and I was there for four hours. So I'm taking a very long book. I slayed many usefuls this weekend. Still haven't done the back-of-the-house vacuuming, but lots of other usefuls lie slain.

You know, it's November again. Julia, I thought there'd be a cure for that by now. I welcome November. It's February I could do without. See, that's the difference eighteen degrees of latitude makes. The sun is going down at 4:30 already and we'll loose several minutes of daylight every day until the Solstice, whereas in February the sun goes down after 5pm and it gets warmer and lighter every day. It's not like it's a jolly bag of fun and balmy breezes but at least things are getting better every day instead of worse and worse. Julia, not to mention how little time I have to do chores.

Well then.
Wedding Week!
so many tiny things still to, many involving packing (clothes, "outfits" (in my world there is a HUGE difference), shoes, meds, make-up, stuff to deal with hair). Men have it so much simpler: suit-check; dress shoes-check, tie-check; pajamas-check. Done.
And maps and checks and cash and last minute errands to run all over town tomorrow.
Blaine was performing in southern IL on Saturday and had to drive home thru central IL yesterday -- had to take shelter at one point. So, we are just glad that the groom is in one piece. Let's hope the bride manages to be as well. Her class/paper/oral reports/exam schedule is heating up.

Home again. The recall fix didn't take as long this time, but they again tried to sell me a bill of bullpucky about work desperately needing to be done at great expense. They claimed the cabin air filter was nonfunctional and the regular air filter nearly as bad.
I called our mechanic when I got home and confirmed that he'd put in a new cabin air filter in June of this year, and the other one in July of last. If Paul can't figure out how to check the air filter for me, I'll run by the mechanic and have them check it later this week. So there, Toyota dealership scam artists.

I'm glad everybody is okay, and I hope your daughter is able to stay safe and sane both, and you too. *hugs*

None of which is unheard of in Chicago but still cold for November. However, in other news, just heard from my next younger sister that she has had 2 mammograms and a sonogram and they want her in for a biopsy on Wed. She's currently planning on driving from VA up to the wedding but ..... we'll have to see about that! So, I maybe be hanging in VA some in the weeks after the wedding. Her daughters are both at school and her husband works out of town during the week and they have 2 dogs so I think she will need help. Life: she comes at you.

OK: did anyone watch Almost Human? Because it's drawn me in. Julia, coming off a bad 24 hours of gut ick, and therefore ot prolix ABSOLUTELY. Meant to come and post about it but, you know, OTHER stuff going on. Nice writing: lots and lots of good "buddy cop" banter. Really very good acting: nice to upset convention and make the android the sympathetic one and they are playing it well without over-playing imo. So much near future potential science/technology. I read that it is from the Fringe show-runners and that makes sense. I'm not going to be able to keep track but they will have a huge job keeping track of what is possible and what is not. Just: extremely watchable. Also, I really like the various supporting characters -- all quite strong. (makes you wish this had been the SHIELD offering -- that universe is just TOO TOO TOO hemmed in by comics and movies and pre-determined characters. Probably a higher recommend than Sleepy Hollow (which can be a bit uneven and very gory)

I came for Karl Urban, who I've loved since Xena, but am blown away by Michael Ealy and also feel as if Minka Kelly's got more going on than I'd previously suspected. And Lily Taylor, wowie zowie! Julia, it does interfere with watching Antiqie's Roadshow, but that's less a problem in winter since I watch all the MSNBC stuff on first broadcast

I love good acting when the writing is good enough to allow them to be subtle. Also futuristic sci-fi but it doesn't overwhelm the characters and their interactions. I mean plot line involves robots used as protistutes and it still managed to come off compassionate more than sleazy. Posting from a Starbucks next to hotel in Chicago. They let us check in at 10:30! Jim has to teach a webinar frm 1 to 3 so I had to vacate room. Allie and Andrew landed from NYC and have picked up car at Tom and Sarah's. next on schedule is mtgthe grooms parents at apt around 4 pm

I had a bad morning at the dentist yesterday; one whole side of my upper gum seems to be going south on me, and I have two old decaying fillings that need to be replaced. So I've got antibiotic powders in the worst two of the gum pockets ($$) and an appointment right before Christmas to get the fillings replaced ($$$). I have to be very careful what I eat and which side I chew on, for the next ten days.
But it's not raining this morning, and today is opening day of Winter Sawdust, so Paul and I and probably Emily are going to Laguna Beach later today, and maybe the used bookstore in Orange on the way home.
Tomorrow I have piles of shopping to do for Aged Mum so Paul can drop off groceries on his way to his Mythie meeting, but that's tomorrow. Not going to think about that today, lalala.

Don't forget, The Day of the Doctor airs simultaneously with England's evening airing, so check your local listings! I've created a thread for the episode in the Doctor Who section.

The Progrmmer is one of those guys who's been a Dr Who fan since childhood, but alas he's in the middle of moving and won't be able to watch this live; he is unhappy about it. Julia, me, I'm about ready to go back to bed, myself, which has been my default position since last Friday or so.
