Gah. Very nearly "modified" Julia's post instead of posting my own. Too many buttons.... Anyway, update - you all haven't been abandoned - between work and my active social life (: , I've been off the job, but I plan to start making threads tonight for your favorite WIPs, and to retire the old fanfic threads in favor of new places where you can recommend and converse. 'Cause, wow, two pages already.

Credence by Tabaqui is freshly updated with Chapter 20: www.livejournal.com/users/tabaqui/59959.html?view=1507639#t1507639Previous chapters at: www.catbones.com/scarecrow-horses/livejournal.htmlPairing: Spike/Xander Rating: At least PG; no actual sex so far but given the pairing, I expect there will be. In a nutshell: Tough, ruthless, insightful, compassionate Spike, in (as I recall) Seattle (went there for chip removal), working as bouncer in a demon club/brothal, comes across Xander and Oz, the latter dying from residual effects of what was done to him when he was the captive of the Initiative. Spike takes them in, arranges treatment for Oz, and is increasingly possessive of Xander, who sometimes manifests the hyena. Fine, tough story but not for the squeamish.

I missed the update this morning, and Part 7 was updated late last night, I thing: www.livejournal.com/users/herself_nyc/672611.html?view=6975587This is a stupifyingly unhappy story, just the sort of thing I generally avoid, and I'm transfixed by it. Julia, and also ready to chain Spike up and kidnap him to somewhere with better plumbing and modern medical facilities

By my count, there are already 19 WIPs that have been updated here. Some of them are obviously updated frequently; others are obviously favorites, so for some I am now creating new threads. Next I'll figure out what to do with all the others.

Okay, kids - six WIPs now have their very own threads. My intention is that they be used for discussion and posting of updates. I chose fics that seemed to be updated with frequency, and that more than one of you was reading. WIPs updated INFREQUENTLY, or that have halfhearted recs, are still to be referenced here, for the time being. One-offs, standalone fics, will get yet another thread. Any minute now, there will also be a place to chat about fics you're reading, much as happens now on the original fanfic threads, but now we're going to separate the actual recs thread (which I hope to keep as short posts with links) from the discussion thread - which will be like the Main Board discussion thread - a free-floating conversation where anyone who wants to can talk about fics. We'll see how any of this works out.

Hmm. Julia, in your opinion, does this want its own thread? I want to limit the number of "active" individual fic threads, but I don't want to exclude any that are important to folks. Myself not being the fanfic expert. Let me know, everyone, if you honestly think the fic you're reporting needs a separate thread.

Myself not being the fanfic expert. Let me know, everyone, if you honestly think the fic you're reporting needs a separate thread. I'm actually quite in approval of this fic, and it updates 3-5 times a week, so a separate thread might be worth it. The Spuffy Kink Ficathon has a posting deadling of tomorrow, so there will be many posts connected to it; Herself has the habit of not titling fics until they're finished which makes it diffucult to refer to her fics by anything except author name. Julia, not awake, suspecting I'm no help, and with a slash rec and nowhere to put it.

All right: Ladies, Gentlemen, Spiny-headed lookin' things, we now have:
SEVEN independent threads for individual fics that appear popular and update frequently.
Fresh, clean, new threads for recommending slash and non-slash fic. It'd be very nice to keep that as just one-offs, and all WIPs updated in the WIP thread or in their respective threads, if they've got 'em. You know, to help me keep stuff organized, as it's going to fall to me to try and sort it out regularly and keep the mess at bay.
A new and exciting addition - a fanfic discussion thread. Mostly to separate the discussion of the fics from the recs/links, which will make it easier to find the links, and give y'all who want it a place to discuss the things you're really loving. (Not that the Main Board isn't good for that, too. But this is special. ;D)
Let's see...you'll already have noticed the archives thread, but still - we now have an archives thread, for storage of links to fanfic collections and fun livejournal communities. Sort of a library, really. Don't speak Latin in front of the books.
I think that's all for now. Suggestions and recommendations are always welcome. Even as I spend the rest of my natural life trying to rescue the "good stuff" from the old threads and keeping the new threads organized and making sure everyone sees the latest updates...oy with the poodles already.
I think I'll just nip out to the hot tub and kill myself....
Enjoy!
