Riani1/Two Ladies of Quality's incomparable historical, Nessuno, has grown hugely beyond what (last I looked) was posted on her site. Still in progress, it's reached Part 43 and seems near the end. All parts are hereIn brief, it's a masterly tale of an AU and human Spike, Angelus, Xander, and Giles (under slightly different names, to protect any innocent other than Xander/Sandro) in the Roma of the Borgias. AND there are vampires.... And I must note, it becomes mildly Spander, for those with strong preferences either way about slash.

The most utterly amazing William story that I've ever seen is unfurling on LiveJournal. "The Other Side of the Tracks", by FrimFram, tells of the career of William the Bloody immediately following his turning. It also tells of Arthur Conan Doyle, medical student, killing time in London for a while before returning to his studies in Edinburgh, and coming into contact with the associates of a mysteriously vanished young poet. She strongly hints that Conan Doyle will encounter William himself in the near future. And the trains running in and out of St Pancras Station feature strongly, too. It's written with a flair, attention to detail, and rich atmosphere that outshines anything I've ever seen in period fic before. I would praise it more highly had my Word thesaurus not crashed and the superlatives section burned out. The first two chapters are here www.livejournal.com/users/frimfram/12967.htmland here www.livejournal.com/users/frimfram/13476.htmland the latest chapter, number three, is here www.livejournal.com/users/frimfram/14253.html#cutid1Chapter 4 appeared on June 21st and I forgot to mention it here. Chapter 5 is now up here: www.livejournal.com/users/frimfram/16224.htmlFind all previous chapters in Memories here: www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=frimframOf all the WIPs underway at the moment this, and Sharelle's that I've just mentioned, are 2 of my 3 favourites. It's been a wonderful day for updates.

I've been following this with considerable enjoyment: Irony, by lit_gal. The early chapters are here; chapter 6 is here; chapter 7 (new) is here. It's a S/X tale in which Xander, still influenced by the hyena-spirit, is taken with Spike by the Initiative. It's all from Xander's first-person viewpoint, so there's a good deal of fine Xander-babble and the expected UST between him and Spike.

This is one I've also been following; it is almost almost always posted when I've begun my descent into idiocy in the evening, and I keep forgetting to recommend it. The last chapter, especially, was very satisfying. Not, however, for the Riley fan! Julia, Riley v Lorne is a great scene

Only because I remembered to comment this time! Notable: anyone who has not been reading this fic from the beginning, it is now saved in Wombat's memories and easily accessible to the new reader. Julia, off to hang clothing out, I guess.

Szandara's "Persistance of Memory" (post NFA, R or sometimes almost NC-17, G/Wi) has updated after a long hiatus: www.livejournal.com/users/szandara/70104.html?Julia, there are a lot of fics today, but I've been writing and actually working on the stuff I bought lumber for the other day, so recs are going to be slow in coming

There's no information about whether this fic is linked in the writer's memories, and rather than try to get all five parts properly linked I'm going to cop out and give y'all a link to his LJ; he writes very few entries lately which are not this fic, and the small extra effort on your part (he's good about cutting stuff, so the scrolling happens fast) is very much worth it. "Subcontractor," Veronica Mars and AtS s5 crossover. Cordelia Chase contacts the Mars Agency to keep track of some folks in Cleveland, Bath, Rome and Africa... www.livejournal.com/users/ffutures/Julia, really. Read it. Good stuff.
