OK, FX airs repeats of season 1-6 of Buffy every night. We all know that. FX was not able to get season 6 until UPN had shown all the episodes in repeats. Does that still apply for season 7? There will be no season 8 so UPN doesn't really have an incentive to re-run the season 7 episodes (except for in the summer and they keep pushing them back). So....will FX not be able to get season 7 until UPN has reaired all the episodes? Or does it work a little differently now that the series is completely over? Does anyone know? I'm not sure how that works. But I don't have cable, but watch the reruns/repeats on Sunday Nites on the WB -- Season 5 is running at 10 pm (can't remember what eppie it was as I taped it) and Season 2 is at 11 pm (eppie aired was What's My Line Part II).

If you've checked out my S'cubie profile, then you might have noticed that one of my cats, Arnie, had tested positive for feline leukemia but had stayed in good health for four years. Unfortunately, in the past months the disease manifested and I had to have him put to sleep this morning. He was a sweet, unassuming stray who was always on his best behavior as if he feared we'd kick him out if he presumed too much. I'm sorry if this isn't the appropriate forum for this kind of news but his life and death deserve to be remarked. So sorry for your loss! Arnie sounds like he was a wonderful kitty. Pets aren't people, but they add so much to people's lives; and will always be part of my family. Gail color]

Okay, the fact that my local WalMart had a spot already identified where the Season 4 DVD set was to go was bugging the heck out of me, so I made a trip back this afternoon. Guess what?
[glow=red,2,300]I now own my very own set of Season 4 DVDs!!![/glow]
Yes dear readers, this is TWO WalMarts that can't seem to read a calendar, and their could very well be more. Possibly one in your neck of the woods!

So, Dave....it appears that YOUR Wal-Mart is run by monkeys, as is mine. Doesn't it feel kinda cool, knowing that we have something that not many other people have right now? No? OK, just me then.

Oh yes, it feels very cool to be one of the elite few to have the season 4 DVD set. Coupled with my copies of seasons 1-3, Angel season 1 and the Buffy movie that I already owned, I've now outgrown my DVD rack and need to get a new rack just for Buffy and Angel.

Vlad and/or Dave and/or Rae:
Is there a limit to how many messages you can have in your inbox? I have a bad habit about letting them pile up and not deleting them. Is there a maximum capacity of your message inbox?
I'm getting ready to clean out my old messages and this question just popped into my head.
Thanks!

Lee, Good question... but I've got a bad answer because I have no idea! However, I will try to find the answer for you . The help doesn't say much about the private messaging so I'll have to do a little research but I'll get back to you as soon as I've got an answer. ~rae

I was just wondering. I have gotten zilch done at work today. Bless the internet! ;D

Rae, it's not necessary to do research. I was just wondering. I have gotten zilch done at work today. Bless the internet! ;D Well.... /me waves Lee in close and whispers... Actually, "research" consists of me posting the exact same question on another board ;D... So, I'm more than happy to "research" this question for you! Just call me Rae Hanson, S'cubie Research Associate Extraordinaire! (That's actually kinda funny because my "official" title really is Research Associate, Information Architecture.... So, that should mean by "researching" answers for people on this board, I'm actually doing my job! Great, I'll have to remember that for my bosses.)

To all you "haves" who got the Season 4 DVDs - does anyone know what Willow is inscribing on Tara's back at the beginning of her dream in "Restless"?
It was running on FX this morning, and I remembered that I'd always wondered. Looks like Greek to me; probably all you devoted internet researching fans already know, but somehow I've never gotten around to finding out.
We really should get a DVD player one of these years... After we replace the car, and my sewing machine, and buy a scanner, and Kitty gets braces. Oogh, I'm getting depressed. I'm going to look at pretty pictures, for which I thank all of you - it's so nice to have them all where I can go ogle when I need to.

Looks like Greek to me; probably all you devoted internet researching fans already know, but somehow I've never gotten around to finding out. Anne, I've read a couple of pretty thoroughgoing analyses of Restless, there are quite a few on the net, and the writing was identified as a Sapphic love poem--literally: a poem by the Greek poet Sappho, one of the first extant literary lesbians, from whom comes the phrase "Sapphic love" as an identification of lesbianism. I don't recall which poem it is, but I'm quite certain that that's what it is.
LATER: And I see Lee has added the reference I didn't think to put in, that Sappho lived on the Greek island of Lesbos, whence "lesbianism." So I think we're even in being helpful, Lee. [/color]

Anne:
JW comments that Willow is writing a poem by Sappho on Tara's back. Sappho (and I'm probably spelling the name totally wrong) was the famous lesbian poet from 6th century B.C. She was born in Lesbos (where the term "lesbian" comes from) and wrote poetry for her circle of women friends. "Sapphic love" is often used to describe homosexual love between women and the term "Sapphic" comes from Sappho.
Hope this helps!
Lee
EDIT[/u]: And I see Nan has already answered your question.

Ah, so it's a Sapphic love poem. How wonderful and appropriate. Thank you both for the information!

I like A New Man a lot, mainly because Giles was overdue at the time for an episode that addressed his issues with aging and feeling disconnected from those he cares about. Spike--who was as disconnected from the world as one could be since he'd so recently been chipped--is the perfect character to help out. The payment negotiation was priceless also. This is also the episode which telegraphed Riley's inevitable issues with Buffy's power, and her justifiable discomfort with showing him everything she has. If she couldn't share that with him, there was no way she could trust him on the level that she required to have an intimate relationship. As nice a guy as Riley was, it was clear that eventually he would have a hard time dealing. Spring says as much, of course; but it's one part of the episode that really sticks out to me. On a personal level, the saddest part of watching this particular episode is the terrific comic chemistry of Nick and James. Why would I be sad about that, you ask? In Season 7 I can't recall much more than a sentence or two between them when Buffy moved Spike in with Xander. Outside of that....nada. What a terrible waste of talent. Having said that, Spring has taught me yet another valuable lesson. Thank you. Well said. So much that could have been shown in Season 7 wasn't. One of the things I wanted to see was how Xander and Spike got along as roomies. Remembering the Wheetabix controversy, I was set up for some wonderful interplay and as you say, nada. I also loved Spring's review of A New Man. We don't have many Giles-centric episodes, and this one gives us a peek into his mind and also allows him to shed some of his propriety. I think I like Giles best when you see some "Ripper" in him. I'm probably one of the few who had no problems with his killing Ben. That, to me, is the essential Giles. I don't think he lost much sleep over the act.

Did anybody notice the TV Guide Emmy Picks article on Slayage? Tom Lenk is named in the Best Supporting Actor category and James is not! No disrespect to Tom who is a fine comedic actor but, Hello! (holding James' arm up, waving his hand around madly while he tries in vain to squirm out of my determined grasp) Unrecogonized actor extrordinaire, here! What are these people, deaf, dumb & blind? It will be interesting to see who/what the actual Emmy nominees are this year, it being the final chance for Buffy to be recogonized. Here's the link: www.tvguide.com/newsgossip/insider/030604a.asp
