I can't believe you people are drinking beer, champagne and ginger beer. Where are the Long Necks? I can vouch for their effectiveness, especially when skulled. Needless to say I am drinking coffee. My alcoholic father assures me that only alcoholics drink spirits or wine or drink before 11 am. He is only drinks beer, in large quantities, after that time so he's fine! . (looking around....shhhhh....I am drinking iced tea....)

For some reason I couldn't quote this, it kept giving me Rob's previous post, but I wanted to thank you Laura, for posting that wonderful article about DVDs, Spike, and Fool for Love. Delicious addition to the party! I agree, I don't own a DVD player, but I'm gonna have to get one!

. Am the only one who can't look at cookie dough anymore without thinking about Buffy? I caught myself thinking "oh look, there's some Buffy dough" and then glancing around to make sure no one overheard my thoughts. ROFL! That's too funny! Now, if only there was some Spike dough...you just pop it in the oven and wait while it rises! ;D

Is all the pizza gone? I was at the movies and saw the Italian Job which has Seth Green in it. Good movie, especially the car chase. It also made me crave Venice, which next to New Orleans and Prague, is a perfect venue for Vampires. And it has pizza and a piazza! (sp?) Rusty.. I saw The Italian Job today as well. Agree with you about the car chase. I left the theater wanting to speed down the road, zipping in and out of traffic. Of course, the road I was on is brand spanking new so there was only one other car besides mine... kinda takes the thrill out of "zipping in and out".

Welp... I'm afraid I've got to leave the party now. Unfortunately I have an early (and busy) morning tomorrow. However, I did stop by the kitchen and tell the servers to take around the dessert trays. So, make sure you get something sweet to chew on

It's off to work I go (I also admit to planning on checking in on the Tony Awards - I wonder sometimes if I'm the only person who caught the "Corner of the Sky" reference when Lilah sliced off Linwood/John Rubenstein's head). Play nice and save me a piece of pizza for tomorrow - isn't reheating pizza what microwaves were invented for in the first place? Isn't "My corner of the sky" from the musical 'Pippin', in which John Rubenstein (son of the pianist Arthur Rubinstein, in case anyone didn't know) starred when he was much younger and prettier?

I'm not sure where I stand on this one, but asking vampires to behave according to human rules just because the rules are human seems as silly as it does futile. Do we, as humans, behave as cows would like us to, when cows are part of our food chain? I question whether the morality we require of vampires offers any reason for them to comply. Even as they kill us, don't we kill them just as readily? Where does that place us in their morality? We can't even eat them. I guess this is where I get on the train. Per the Jossverse (no other mythology included), vampires are one of the demon races, one that's close to human and propogates through humans (turning). But they're NOT humans. They're as alien as Spock, or the creatures of Alien(s). And whether they're morally evil (not just harmful to people) would depend a lot on THEIR OWN standards of morality, not just ours.
Maybe to be clearer, I'm not arguing vamps are NOT evil...I'm just saying they MAY NOT be evil in any ethical terms that make sense. Clearly, per Angel and Spike, it's possible for them to be souled. However, per Spike's development, it may be difficult but it sure isn't impossible for them to show kindness, to love, to have friendships, to keep a given word, WITHOUT A SOUL. So souledness or not-souledness doesn't seem as crucial a division between evil/neutral/good as the Council (for instance) and early Buffy, parroting Giles and the Council, seem to think.
I just think it's possible that the series, and Buffy, and to some extent us, are still accepting the Council's brainwashing in defiance of what we actually see vampires...and other demons like sweet Clem and Lorne...actually doing. The idea that a vampire, simply through BEING a vampire, is automatically evil and merits killing on sight...seems like Council brainwashing to me, compared to the complexity of the situations, and the vamps, Buffy finds herself confronting and involved with as she enters adulthood and judging such matters for herself....[/color]
