Welcome to Part Six. Today is the first "official" day of operation of the SSS Message Board although unofficially it has been thoroughly enjoyed already. Our moderators, Rae and Dave, and ESPECIALLY our resident Technopagan, Vlad, deserve a big round of applause for designing, organizing, and presenting us with our wonderful new home. The S'cubies are very grateful for all your hard work and dedication. Vlad is the driving force behind this web site. It is due to his vision that we have the Soulful Spike Society web site and this Message Board. Vlad, thank you so very much. Alexandra

So, I heard a rumor that there was a Grand Opening Party going on over here... I know that Dave wouldn't be in until later so I stopped and picked up a few kegs to get us going... Enjoy!

Caught up now (hopefully) and I have a few responses to people: ROB: Thank you for sharing such a personal story about yourself. I too have had the experience of telling someone how I felt and then being utterly rejected. It happened my senior year of college and this guy and I became fast friends - you know, the type where you may have only known them for a short time but it felt like forever? That was me and Alex. I fell completely head over heels for him - if he had asked me to marry him, I would have said yes right then and there, no questions asked. Everyone thought we were dating and, looking back on it I wonder how I thought this, but I thought so as well. Granted, no physical stuff but the emotional connection was there - everytime I was home we were together constantly. We shared everything - I honestly thought that I had found "The One". He was my best friend. Tired of all the questions of "Are y'all dating?" "What are y'all doing?", etc. I decided to confront him and define our relationship. Big mistake there. He told me that I was his best friend and he didn't want to risk losing me if a romance didn't work out for us. Inside I was screaming, "You have to take a chance! Sometimes you have to risk things for what is right!" because I was so head over heels for this guy, I couldn't imagine not being with him. Anyway, long story short (yeah, right!), we did not end up together but we are still best friends to this day. In the long run, I'm glad we never actually dated because who knows? We might not be friends today if we ended up breaking things off. It took me a long time to get over him (didn't help when he started dating someone ONE WEEK after we had our talk and he had said he didn't think of me that way, he wasn't ready for a relationship, blah blah blah). So, Rob, I can relate to the "loving someone who doesn't love you" - that scene in "Prophecy Girl" is not very easy for me to watch now. You are very much "our" Xander in every sense and I mean that in the very best way possible! KERRIE: - The commentary I (and others) have talked about is on the episode "Wild at Heart" - the episode where Oz leaves Sunnydale. The commentary is hysterical! I know I had other comments but I forgot them in my long, rambling response to Rob. Guess I better go back to Part 5 and scan through it again - I know there were more discussions I wanted to comment on. Oh, yeah - I'm here for the grand opening! Whoo-hoo! Lee

Just read Diane's counterpoint to the ESPN article - good job, Diane! The author clearly had not been watching Buffy regularly. When he wrote about Buffy forgetting her telekinetic powers, I said, "Huh? When did Buffy ever have telekinetic powers and messed with the space/time frame?" Then I realized he was probably talking about "Primeval" and this only confirmed that he is not a regular watcher of Buffy. Diane, you were very calm and matter-of-fact in your response to the author. If it had been me, I'm afraid I would have reverted to "Nuh-uh. That's not right. You're stupid" or some other lame junior-high mentality. I very much enjoyed your response - I wonder if they post it somewhere? Have you heard back from the author yet? Lee

I asked this on the old thread, and Dave answered but his reply was inconclusive, so I'm throwing it out again.
The AI motto:
Is it 'We help the helpless' or 'We help the hopeless'?
Any help appreciated.

Mary Mary, the AI motto is "We help the hopeless" - at least, that's what Cordelia says when she answers the phone and that is also part of their message on their answering machine. Hope this helps! Well, nobody here, it seems, except me and Becky. Hi, Becky! Wanna party? Wanna send each other one-liners and try for Master S'cubie status? Wanna admire Spike's cheekbones or assorted other anatomical features?

Proposition for debate/discussion: being a vampire, as such, is no more intrinsically evil than being a wolf.
To start things off, here's a section from the chapter of EME I'm working on now. The situation is that Buffy is watching a wild game of Capture the Flag involving Spike and all the SITs, in the rain.
The gospel according to the Watchers’ Council declared vampirism a loathsome affliction, a fundamental contamination by evil, and further decreed that all right-thinking individuals would suicide at finding themselves turned, leaving only the cowards and those with innate evil already within them to haunt the darkness. Long after she’d defied and rejected the Council itself, Buffy had continued to accept that received gospel unexamined and unquestioned. Now, watching Spike and the SITs in violent, joyous play, Buffy wondered how anybody but a frightened child, of any age, could believe such utter crap. She saw the Council pronouncement for what it was: a denunciation of wolves by sheep. Wasn’t as simple as that, and being a wolf, if you were a wolf, could quite plainly be a hell of a lot of fun.
And she didn't see why she had to miss out on it.

So, Rob, I can relate to the "loving someone who doesn't love you" Rob, Lee, its hard for me to say deep stuff...which is why I'm always 'flippant girl'...but thank you both for being strong and honest - I was in the amen corner there with you both....raising my hand with 'me too'. Maybe its that we've made this jump now to a new board, and we've done it together - we've shared so much in the last six or seven months.... Just want to say the friends I've met here - and I count you both as such - are very precious to me, and you add so much to my life. Thank you.

Thanks to everyone for the nice words and sentiments. I got a little deep there for a minute yesterday. Today I'm going to try to be a tad bit lighter. It's moving day, for heaven's sake. I ordered pizza....where is everybody?

I ordered pizza....where is everybody? Pizza?! What kind of pizza.... it's making me hungry just thinking about it. If it wasn't such a pain to get the delivery folks to find the right apartment and get them through the gate, I'd order some too (oh, plus if I had some cash). I did buy some Freschetta pizza at Publix today. Maybe I'll make that... *sigh* Now you've made me hungry Rob! I need something to go with all those kegs up there.... *goes off to put on the oven*
