I want to thank the wonderful people who volunteered and have been diligently helping in un-archiving the old ScoopMe posts. We have made significant progress, and as soon as Vlad 'returns' from vacation he plans to open the Archived posts for viewing. However....we are less than one-third finished, and if we had just a FEW more helpers, we could really speed up this process and get it done before fall. It is not hard, but it is tedious, like much necessary work. So this little red hen is putting out a second call for help. If you are willing to put in some hours and un-archive ONE 'Part' of the archives, IM me, email me, ICQ me, shout in a loud voice....(well, maybe not that) and your name will be in future blessed...(and Vlad will give you a cookie!)

Apropos of nothing discussed before:
I am FX-less, but Fox here shows Buffy reruns on Saturday afternoons and Sunday nights.
Last week they repeated Crush; I had forgotten how sad it was, when Spike was asking Buffy if there was a chance for them; she gestures him closer, as if she's finally going to give over and admit there's something between them: her face says it, her body language says it, and she hits him with: "The only chance you had with me was when I was unconscious." Bam!
JM just does this quiet, "What?" as if he is completely undone by her response. It was an awesome moment, because, OK, he has her chained to a wall, he's evil, but for that one moment you are totally on his side.

Anybody know anything about this? I've tried to access www.studiesinwords.de and get (possibly) an error message in German. Did Fox make them take it down?

Actually, that moment is the one moment I would be on Buffy's side; and one of the few Spike moments I would not want to watch. Chaining Buffy up and threatening to feed her to Dru if she doesn't voice feelings for him is a definitely evil thing to do. I don't blame Buffy for telling him off at that point, though I do blame Buffy for her abuse of Spike at other times. Yes, Spike did have strong feelings for Buffy, but he's behaving like a stalker; and I've never heard of excusing stalkers for kidnapping because they're cute.
I can't remember whether CRUSH occurred in Season 5 or 6...

The scene you just said and at the Bronze when he sat down beside Buffy. He really thought he was going to be accepted because he helped with Glory at the hospital. When he was rejected he was really hurt but he tried to hide it (ehhh...it was in that episode wasn't it?). Another was Dawn and him in his crypt and the girl-in-the-coalbin story. The coolest was him and Dru stalking through the Bronze. It made me picture what they were like before they came to Sunnydale and how they hunted their food. But the best was the look he had on his face before he bit the girl Dru gave him. He looked so divided on what he wanted to do. A very cool episode.

But my heart starts breaking for him from the first scene when Buffy freezes him out of the Bronze through the last when he realizes she's withdrawn his invite to her house. The only exception is my favorite Spike and Dawn scene featuring The Girl in the Coal Cellar story. Other than that it's non stop heartbreakage.. Crush really shows off James' range. I may rank it as my second favorite episode, right behind FFL.

Gail Oh, I'm totally on Buffy's side throughout that episode; there's no denying his behavior is evil. But his delivery of that line, that one word, I found to be heartbreaking, regardless of his actions. I thought it interesting, if slightly heavy-handed, that the episode started out with a discussion between Buffy, Willow, and Tara about the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Willow was the only one on Quasimodo's side, significantly. I saw the silent film version of that when I was a child and wept inconsolably (I'm told) at Quasimodo's death. It is the pain of rejection and the hope of ever being loved being dashed that I responded to, both then and now. All of Season 5, when he is discovering how he feels about Buffy, is squirm-worthy, on a lot of levels, not the least being Spike's complete inability to do or say the right thing ever (ie, wanting credit for not feeding on bleeding disaster victims). Oy.

They've been down at least a couple weeks now. I haven't heard what's become of them. They were my favorite site for shooting scripts but I do have others bookmarked. Do you need an alternative?
