Hello S'cubies!! So, I disappeared off the face of the earth for a while... okay, all summer. My place of employment has made a crackdown on message boards and I am engaging in illegal posting as we speak. But Nan sent me such a nice message when she saw me lurking that I felt I had to respond and damn the consequences! As far as Angel goes- Yes, I'm watching. I even have some short responses that I'll go through in a minute (although I'm sure you guys have already hashed everything through being the loquacious bunch that you are) but before I do that I wanted to let everyone know that while I've been absent I've been busy. I had 4 Joss-verse virgins at my house watching the first ep and they all loved it and plan to watch it from now on plus one more person at work who I'm convincing to watch by feeding her videotapes. So, if the show gets low ratings, I cannot be blamed!! The lowdown, or rather, my lowly take on the show: - I must agree with Lee Hollins, Lori and John G, among others-- Eve sucks. The best thing that could happen in the next episode is that the 12-year old sexpot who wishes she was Jennifer Garner should go.
- Could Spike's resurrection be part and parcel from the deal for saving Connor and is that perhaps why Spike was summoned from the void to be incarnated as himself again?
- I liked the lawyer Gunn, I do hope, however that the show does not become a supernatural Law & Order.
- Wouldn't it be great if Gunn started humming or singing G&S tunes like "Modern MAjor General" all the time?
- So, um, what about all the gazillion slayers that should be running around LA now? Shouldn't that make a blip on the radar screen, upset some balance of power or something?
- And is Wesley still a badass if he never left the fold because he never kidnapped Connor?
- Did he and Lilah sleep together? Ah, I miss Lilah (see my first point about the suckage of Eve)
- Isn't he still the "boss" because once again he didn't leave the group to kidnap Connor?
That's all I've got. LOVELY REVIEW, Nan. Definitely the best I've read. Insightful, wise, good fun for both the novice and the expert. Good to be back. I'll still be lurky for the most part, but I'll be here. Thanks, Michelle One important thing you didn't speak to, MichelleBelle: Ain't Spike purty? Mustn't leave this out!

One important thing you didn't speak to, MichelleBelle: Ain't Spike purty? Mustn't leave this out!
And boy, did you get a look at that Spike fellow. Man, how do they keep the actors around him from pawing him? Perhaps they must all channel Data, circa season 4 on ST:TNG: "If I weren't a consummate professional and an android I'd [jump that vampire's bones, soul or no soul, yessirree Bob's your uncle]."Or something to that effect.

TV Guide's Matt Rouch reviews Angel -- NEW DIGS, SAME BITE With Spike Aboard, Angel is Twice the Fun By Matt Roush A do-gooding vampire who now runs a sinister law firm? Weird, yes. But as Angel's bloodsucker of an office assistant says of the benefits, "Who needs dental more than us?" Buffy the Vampire Slayer may be cult-TV history, but its spin-off, Angel (WB, Wednesdays, 9 pm/ET), wonderfully preserves creator Joss Whedon's cheeky-spooky tradition of mayhem. Adding allure this season is the posh new setting, as Angel and his posse settle uneasily into the offices they've inherited from Wolfram & Hart, "the law firm that represents most of the evil in the world." Angel's crusaders, accustomed to fighting demons in the back alleys of Los Angeles, wonder if they can still do good from within the corridors of corruption. Complicating matters is the arrival of Buffy's reformed fiend Spike, who, like Angel, is a vampire with a soul. ***spoilers removed**** Funny, scary and completely original, Angel is nirvana for those who enjoy a good scream ? and a good laugh. Nice review, but isn't some of the stuff about Spike a bit spoilerish? yes, so I've removed them...

Starting Tuesday at 11: p EDT, Angel Season Four starts airing on TNT. Successive episodes on following Tuesdays. If everybody knew this but me, fooey.
I sorta knew it...but now I'm thinking not so much...does this mean these 11pm showing are ONLY on Teusdays, and not every week night? Ok, I'm thinking...from what you said, the answer is only Tuesdays. Still, I'm asking cause I went to the trouble of typing this, by gum I'm going to post it!

Yeah, I wonder if we'll ever get it back? I don't know whether to be relieved or frustrated that I can't catch up on the last 10 pages. Also, thank goodness it wasn't thread 47 which got eaten (all the episode 1 posting.) I don't know if we'll get it back. All the currently known incantations were used. I have asked Dave to investigate this with proboard...and to use his bullet if necessary!
In the meantime...I have this perhaps wacky idea. Seems to me this happens no sooner than the 300th post - almost always we've had over 300 posts when Moloch attacks. So.... WARNING....WARNING....
I'm going to close this thread (if I'm around) when we reach that point, and start a new one. Instead of 500 posts, the threads will be only 300 posts. Now...there may be some easily seen to others logical reason (thus not easily seen by me) why this won't work, and I've asked the technopagans to let me know if it's worthless, but until I hear that it is, it seems worth a try. So.....try to remember - if we are approaching 300, we'll be landing soon and disembarking for the next flight. (When did we start this airplane analogy anyway?)

Eve sucks. The best thing that could happen in the next episode is that the 12-year old sexpot who wishes she was Jennifer Garner should go. Do you think she had surgery to make her look more like Jennifer Garner? Maybe she was roomies with the guy who stars in the new Tarzan, who quite obviously had his face done to look Brad Pitt-ish! ;D ;D Further, Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall. Not that that is, in any way, a BAD thing. All guys could look like Brad Pitt, and I would walk around smiling all day... Well, okay, a few could look like JM. Nan, I'm still in love with your avatar; am, in fact, lusting after it! If only Brad Pitt was standing alongside JM. Mary

Unfortunately, I think AtvS has become a supernatural "Law & Order". But hopefully Joss' version of it will be entertaining. And the more Spike scenes, the merrier I'll be. Maybe there'll even be some Spike & Wesley & Gunn go clubbing scenes. Yum.
