Well, this year I'm watching Angel, which means I watch a total of, let's see... ONE show. Angel. That's not entirely true. I like biography and Poirot, and every once in a while I take a look at something else. But, like you Nan, I'd rather read or write. Or, um, watch football. I LOVE that! Mary Mary, we are watching the same things... Except Football. Not watching that. But Angel, and Poirot, and DVDs...pretty much it. I watched about half the Tarzan ep Sunday though. I could hear ERB turning over in his grave...so that'll probably be it for me.

I just got done reading the story DevilPiglet is working on. Was that you who commented after the last chapter in her livejournal? If you are reading it, I just want to say that it's a heartwrencher, is it not?

Shanno--do you read fanfic? Are you aware that Nan and Mary write some of the best fanfic available? Plus Rob and several other S'cubies, but Nan and Mary are on at the moment. My older daughter is going to London to visit a friend at Oxford in about 10 days. It's her first trip overseas. Any advice? Yes, I'm aware of the fanfic action around here. I'm curious about it, but haven't read any....Yet. I'm not sure how I feel about it, to be honest. On the one hand, I'd love to read it, not just because I like the idea of seeing more of my favorite characters but because it's part of getting to know the people around here. On the other hand, I think I'm a little leery of reading fanfic for fear of incorporating any of it into my Jossverse data-banks. Like the way a certain dream can become a memory so clear you'd swear it really happened. I don't know why that "bothers" me, but it does. Likely, I'll go check it out one day soon, anyway, and b*lls to the consequences Sue, I don't actually live in the UK any more (it's 4:30-ish in the morning there, in case you wanted to know). As far as advice for your daughter, it would really depend on what she's planning to do already, what her interests are, and what her budget is. I could rave on about museums ad nauseum but if she breaks into a cold sweat at the thought, there's not much point in directing here there, eh? So what's she thinking of so far? Shanno

Hi Sue - thanks for your notes this morning! Hope you've had time to read the new chapter, and enjoyed it. Yes, I have the story on two different computers, and on three discs. When I'm having computers problems I go into a complete panic that all my backups aren't in working order! How old is your daughter? I still hope to get to Europe someday. I've never been. Mary Me neither. Never used my passport yet. Although I've been to Canada (Toronto), Hawaii, and Bermuda. Hate the long plane flights, though. She just turned 21. 4 Princeton students all going over on the same plane to visit a friend studying at Oxford this semester. Wish my parents had been "rich" (or stupid) when I was in college. My husband is.....shall we say....thrifty. Has never bought a new car, even our houses (we're on our third) have all been "fixer-uppers" but he believes that there is no substitute for travel and so when trips come up they become disignated gifts (like for a 21st birthday). Everything outside the plane ticket is her responsibility.

Hi, everyone!
What a night! Watched BtVS tonight (Wrecked, Gone), then caught up with Nan's latest, Mary's latest, and Devil Piglet's latest. Then onto finishing the Maheliem (spell) fanfic (which had me rolling on the floor laughing) and then to the Watcher's Council's latest episode.
Loved Mary's "tall and tedious"; thought maybe I'd heard Spike say it on BtVS. Didn't realize it was Mary's till I read the posting. Thank you, Mary! I was getting tired of calling him Capt. America. (Although I do love to refer to Spike as Capt. Peroxide and Angel as Capt. Brood.)
Result? Right now, guys, I am sorry, but I am so Buffied-out, I don't think I can even think of anything Buffy for another week.
oh, wait! Angel is on tomorrow night. Rats. This obsession is time-consuming. ;D
What with all the fanfic I read tonight, I can pretty much guess what I'll be dreaming about - the cheeseman, right?

A new member - Rogue1, didn't know where to post so she put this nice hello on a new thread. Some of our S'cubies saw it and greeted her, and directed her here, but I wanted everyone to meet her, so I'm copying her 'hello' here..and I've posted to her as well. *****************************************
Want to Say Hello « Thread started on: Today at 12:07pm » I wasn't sure where to put this in order to say a general HELLO!!!! all............. I am a newbie....hence the newbie under my name
I just wanted to let the PTB here at this site know how GREAT it is. (Probably already know)
I love the reviews. This is one of the best boards I've found since the BronzeShelter closed down.
Keep up the good work. ***********************************
Again Rogue1, welcome! Glad to have you at the Soulful Spike Society!

Lee, Your story is priceless and I sure hope Josh laughed when he heard it. Thanks to that article you posted a while back, the first thing that popped into my head was "But I thought you were only supposed to walk the dog outside!"
Sue, The one thing I can suggest, based on what the students here tell me, is that your daughter look into her train pass options before she gets here. I know there are some forms of BritRail passes you can only buy in the US. If that doesn't work, though, most kids here use the Young Person's Railpass and get around a 30% discount (I think) on train fares. The trains are by far the easiest way to get around. Can't you stow away in her luggage and come, too?
Who has the new "Buffy" album and do you like it? I'm getting ready to spend some birthday money and I'm wondering if I should hang on to some for the 20 October UK release date.
Off now to get the permanent lenses for my glasses...

Good morning - Rob mentioned Scubiefest '04 - what is it and when is it?
Also - does anyone know when season 5 of Buffy is due out? How about season 3 of Angel? I know someone already informed us, but I forgot to write it down.

I could hear ERB turning over in his grave...so that'll probably be it for me. I'm not sure about the definition of "watching" tv. The tv's on...but I'm usually doing something else and it's keeping me company. TV is very nice when you're putting thousands of beads on a costume. I watch a lot of "smart" channels (PBS, TLC, A&E, Discovery, ARTS, History, Science, Biography, etc.) Also, married to a Brit, I get a lot of BBCAmerica (Anybody see MI5 last night? That French villian guy was HOT! Like to know his name and what else he was in!) In fact, except for Law&Order, the Simpsons and King of the Hill, I almost never watch broadcast channels. Beyond that, I have my Buffy DVDs and small, but growing, collection of favorite movies.

I'd've looked a lot closer if Xander had looked like that more frequently. Yum!
