Morning S'cubies!
After sleeping on it, I think Lorne and his sleep-deprived monster signified how a company can be destroyed by even the seemingly most insignificant of employees. Lorne is in charge of entertainment/PR which is morale and image both inside and outside of a company. He is Angel's connection to the outside, he's respected. It's the reason why the Duke(?) came to Angel's party. Lorne *knows* Angel, the good and bad of him. He told him not to say much during the meeting with the Duke, because he knows Angel will put his foot in his mouth.
Harmony to Angel about his employees: 'they think you suck'. The morning after the party one employee said 'I think this party was the best ever - better than last year'.
Angel is gaining the respect of the employees. Successful parties are important in a corporation. You wouldn't believe how petty people can be about it. I help arrange the parties for my office. It can be a pretty thankless job, and it can break or make attitude around the office. Simple outings, if they're are kick-ass good, can effect morale for months. I've seen it happen. It's what you talk about around the water cooler. It binds you together or tears you apart.
Lorne's part of the team. He told Angel how important that was to him. Now Angel realizes how important Lorne is to that team (wasn't that scene where he tucked Lorne into sleep touching?) Let's see if Angel can remember that lesson on down the line.
I've enjoyed everyone's comments. You guys are great.
Good thing we have an awesome nickname like the S'cubies - it does make a world of difference. And it even has a story behind it. How good is that? ;D

How good is that? ;D Seemingly insignificant? As someone who's worked in public relations, I'm wondering if I should be offended by that statement. I did like Harmony's statement about the employees thinking Angel sucked. I think the writers missed an opportunity there to have Gunn say something like, "He does suck. He's a vampire. Hello!" Then Harmony, also a vampire, could give him a dirty look.

What, you want Spike sneaking up on Angel in the shower? Fred wasn't good enough in the Angel role, or Eve wasn't good enough in the Spike role? I do have to admit, there's been a lot of people getting walked in on in the shower of late. Apparently Joss has shower issues of late. Joss must've been rewatching "Psycho" recently.

Joss must've been rewatching "Psycho" recently. I was thinking Psycho, but it seems more like Joss is getting turned on by shower peepers, rather than scared of them. Psycho had the opposite effect of what Joss is going for. Maybe Joss and Kaye just recently realized their house has a shower, and it can be as much fun as the hottub. And maybe the baby is sleeping through the night now, allowing them to explore the shower and all its possibilities. Who knows.

Busy day ahead and won't be able to pop in much. Random thoughts:
Howcum nobody mentioned the funniest line of the night, "Hey, Angel's getting some! Way to go mate!" I about fell out of my chair, even after seeing it on the promos.
Yes, naked Angel is certainly some wonderful eye candy, but I still prefer naked Spike.
There is a serious side to this episode that I believe TPTB at ME were pointing out to us. Sleep deprivation is a terrible thing, causing slowdown of reaction time, irritibility, poor judgement and even hallucinations and psychotic breaks. A huge percentage of the population is suffering from it, sometimes with severe or even lethal result. Doctors, airline pilots, police, firefighters--anyone whose actions might affect the survival of others can become a risk to that survival.
The Hulked-out Lorne was an excellent metaphor for what happens to the sleep-deprived mind.l

Dave - I like the Thomas Crown reference. I also thought of Moonlighting. But I don't see any real chemistry. Eve has an ulterior motive like someone said above. "I've got you where I want you?"
I also keep thinking about her comment after Wesley said that her job was rather important for a young women. She responded "How you know if I'm either of those things." Cryptic much? She's very frequent with the smug face as if she knows everything.
I agree with someone else who posted that her face as she walked out at the end was old looking and sinister. She is a liason to the SPs. How can she be harmless?
I agree that Angel was angry when she just let herself into his apt. with a key. I agree that Angel wanted to show that it was his place and she was intruding. I'm glad he demanded the key. Of course, she can just get another one made but he made a point. I think he wanted to make her uncomfortable by standing naked - it didn't work because she's evil.
Every time Angel, a 200+year old formerly vicious vampire acts like a befuddled schoolboy I get hysterical. When he asked Eve to talk, he was so flustered and adorable! He was very sweet with Lorne.
We've talked about a theme this season of not being in control and it was reiterated again with Angel's replies of "I don't know."
There's a lot of "I don't knows" - Angel, Gunn with his improved brain not knowing if W&H put anything else in there, Lorne not knowing what the result of his sleep removable would be, Knox and Fred not knowing if the device (in the opening scene) would work, and it didn't, of course Spike, still not knowing what his role is. But also the demon population not knowing if Angel plans to slaughter them at the party.
W&H likes to be in control of the fog that permeates everyone's livese.
Who killed ToAd? What was that about? Who killed that other demon lying on the table? It wasn't resolved. A side note: DB's size. Shaquille O'Neal is a big man, DB's certainly not as big, but has a bigger frame than most of the others. Next to James who is of a much slighter build, David looks much larger. Wesley is slight too, Gunn is the tallest and bigger in body type. Ever look at DB's shoulders? He is very broad which means he has a much larger body type. I'm pretty sure he was a linebacker in high school until he was hurt. Aren't they usually the biggest?
By the way he went to Ithaca College in NY, not SUNY.

But did you catch the look on her face as she was leaving . . . I do believe she was mightily pissed at Angel brushing the whole thing off, but I did love her line about going to school in Santa Cruz. This is exactly how I saw it too. I don't think she dissed Angel, I think he dissed her. I think she wanted him to say even tho it started as a spell he'd like it to continue.

About Eve shagging Angel: I think it was mutual, and I am so happy he's gotten some sweet release. He needed it. Especially after that shower. There's nothing like a hands-on guy. Actually, I found that scenario very sad and depressing. We've more or less concluded that it would take more than sex to make Angel perfectly happy. But he's still not taking any chances by getting with someone he genuinely cares about. Condemned to a lifetime (eternity) of only being able to have sex (no making love here) with people you despise--Darla, Eve--who don't trust, admire, share friendship, yada, yada. Celibacy's looking pretty good.

This is probably going to get buried in Angel postings, but it seemed like a mini-revelation to me, so ...
Caught just the end of Conversations With Dead People yesterday afternoon and again this morning. I have decided that Joyce was a manifestation of The First. The other demon, etc was all just a set-up to convince Dawn it was really Joyce.
I mean, the real Joyce wouldn't have tried to drive a wedge between Dawn and Buffy. And, in view of the rest of the season--that's exactly what her comments did.
"Joyce" said: When things get tough Buffy won't be for you--she'll be against you. Buffy won't choose you." It was The First, using truth, but, as usual, in a twisted way: It was Dawn who was against Buffy. Dawn didn't choose Buffy when they kicked her out of the house. (I had formerly thought this was played out when Buffy sent Dawn away with Xander, but I like this interpretation better.) So, foreshadowing, yes; "truth", but twisted by evil for it's own purposes.
Yeah, I think Joyce was The First. Dawn harbored those words in her heart the entire season and when push came to shove that's what sent her over the edge--she rejected Buffy before Buffy could reject her. This also helps explain why Dawn turned against Buffy.
If anybody else already had this insight, sorry, it's been a while.

I agree with Rob - the actress portraying Eve is making us hate her with her facial expressions and attitude, but the snarky, inuendo filled speeches that the ME are giving her help too.
My son went to Evergreen State in Washington. Their mascot is the geoduck which is a clam. It is pronounced gooey-duck!
Nicki - but did Angel diss her? He wanted to talk about what happened "back there" but she just made that sex under mystical influence comment. I thought she looked evilly self-satisfied not hurt.
