I just wanted to say (and forgot to earlier) that I am LOVING the Nerd Alert Revival....all the letters to Dear Abby are just hysterical...so clever, and it makes me realize all over again why I came here in the first place. You are all such a bunch of witty snarky people here with creative 'slightly' depraved minds.....*sniff* I''m getting choked up....

Gosh, this is the best site in the universe. I'm po'd at the WB. Don't cha think that if they wanted people who watch Smallville to stick around for Angel that they would show at least a couple of previews during Smallville? One-half hour and no faq'n preview. Ok, rant over. I'm trying to carve a spike-o'lantern or angelus-o'lantern. I've never done a vampire before. Maybe I'll do one of those and one of Lorne. Worst part of carving a pumpkin - taking out the guts, the best part - watching Xena freak out at them for about 10 minutes.

This will be short because I need to get to bed after an exhausting day. Unlike Lorne, I've not had my sleep removed.
Overall, I thought it was a cute episode if not an overly memorable one. They've done the funny better, even the funny that underneath dealt with more serious stuff, like "Beer Bad". But it was still cute.
The overall highlight, Gunn marking his teritory. I love the scene when Angel asks Gunn if Lorne told him to pee all over the offices -- "God I hope so." And then Spike's elation over Gunn marking Angel's chair as his territory.
For me, the rest of the episode was just ok. Last week's was much better. But it was still better than Doublemeat Palace.

Would have been better if it had been Spike sneaking up in the shower scene again.

At Ann D's thoughtful suggestion, I copied and reposted Vlad's wonderful 'Origins of S'cubies' tale (T A L E) on the Unspoiled Thread, for those who never venture here and so missed it. Ann posted there also telling them about the Nerd Alert thread, so they wouldn't miss that.

Party On, Angel!!!
Observations:
1. Wesley is definitely still in love with Fred. But she has feelings for Knox, who looks like a Cocker Spaniel puppy.
2. We've talked about Gunn and Angel being alpha males; well, guess what canine alpha males do to mark their territory. Big EWWW, however.
3. Angel, though definitely NOT a party animal, looked cute in the Halloweeny orange shirt and brown jacket and pants.
4. Lorne mentioned thick sexual tension between Angel and Eve prior to their shagfest. I thought they had minimal chemistry; Angel seemed to find her irritating rather than attractive. Moi aussi.
5. Spike was definitely more relaxed than in the prior episodes, even before the party. His appearance in Angel's room among the FG after the party seemed to be taken for granted, though he was isolated and Angel eventually booted him out. Progress of a sort.
6. Sebassis is the best villain we've had so far this season. I'd like to see him return.
7. A yummy Lorne-centric episode.
I would give this episode 3.5 stakes out of 5, with HELLBOUND getting 4.5 and UNLEASHED getting 3 and JUST REWARDS getting 4 stakes.
They should do Halloween events more often in the Jossverse. [glow=red,2,300]GAIL [/glow]

I'll summarize my thoughts on the episode -- essentially, it opens and closes with Angel being asked the same question: "How are you doing/how is it going?" And his answer at the end of the evening is the same as at the beginning: "I don't know."
Skipping all the "what's going on?" parts, ultimately, this episode's being about Lorne getting turned into the Incredible Hulk is reflective of the changes that the rest of the FG are experiencing.
We were told that separating the empath from his subconscious could be catastrophic. But isn’t that the warning to all of them? They’ve all sort of been separated from their subconsciousnesses (sp?) – from their “true” selves. They’re all disjointed and don’t know what’s going on, or how things are going. (Again, go back to Eve’s initial conversation with Angel – “How’s it going?” He doesn’t know – none of them do – because they don’t know if what they’re doing is precisely what the Senior Partners want them to do.)
And Angel realizes this at the end, when he says that the place is trying to change them. It is.
I have to do more thinking about the rest of the implications of this. I'm looking forward to Nan's review, and the guest review, as well as the comments from everybody else.
I did enjoy this episode. It made me laugh. Just a few other observations:

It was cute, and had a good beat. I could dance to it. And now we know. Angel doesn't lose his soul. I SO want Wesley and Fred together but they're just not going to let it happen are they? I'm thinking Gunn gave up a lot to get that knowledge boost. 'You can be smart, but you will be the butt of all the penis jokes this season.' And now I'm thinking...perhaps 'butt' is not a good term here.
