I won't boo you, Caraleigh. I like the character of Eve. This particular episode I didn't do a random thoughts thingy like I usually do, but if Gunn's urinating on Angel's chair isn't supposed to be foreshadowing, the writers will have disappointed me. That is very clever stuff if it indeed turns out to be the case. Gunn's peeing in the chair must have been in the part I didn't get. I hope it will be up tomorrow. I forgot about that creepy pet of Sebassis. He was just.....creepy.

Nerd Alerts are not spoilery. The whole point is the use of the imagination and/or memory. A spoiler would be to tell you what sort of mischief I'm cooking up for next Tuesday. Mwa ha ha ha. Nerd Alerts can be spoilery for the Unspoiled thread folk...but not for the folk on this thread.

Just re-watched parts 1-4 of Life of the Party, and noticed some things I'd missed first go-round:
Lorne tells Angel: a good host doesn't make judgments about his guests. Lorne wants Angel to cooperate in inviting evil VIPs to the party. Angel doesn't want to do business with evil; Lorne is telling him that this is part of it. This is one of the dilemmas of contemporary adult life: do we/do we not do business with corporations/companies/countries, that are evil, ie, exist within a toxic corporate culture. Hello, Entron! Hey, P. Diddy and Kathy Lee: where 'bouts in Honduras are those factories? Any of youall wearing Nikes?
Later, Angel and Lorne visit the evil Archduke Sebassis, who tells Angel: We're all blood drinkers here. Party line anti-capitalist and anti-aristocratic and anti-elitist dialogue. The coporate VIPs drink the lifeblood of their workers --- and to drive the point home, Sebassis kicks the concept of a thermos to a higher level - always room temp, always chained to his arm.
Can't wait to download part 5. What goodies await re-watching. And what goodies to come! you know, this Ben Edlund guy is pretty cool! Spoons, trays, salvers (I think he has a silverware fetish.), grand partays, milk duds, sleep in a bottle, the possible return of disco, Spike dancing with Lorne, Harmony looking cute as a button on the dance floor and calling the Big A "bossy", Wes and Fred alone at last (sigh. and she likes Knox more. for now.) Gunn just whizzing around, Angel getting some, and now, subtle, underhanded, good old-fashioned political ideas, too. My kind of guy. And I don't care how he looks. Much. Right now, at 1:38 a.m. on a Friday. in October. 2003.
I'm still thinking about Just Rewards. A spoon!?

Caraleigh, the text on the avatar says: Rabid Spike fan no apologies Ooh, the rich character development full of pathos, romance, and tragedy er, I mean, Ooh those abs drool Ooh those eyes Ooh those cheekbones Forgot to comment on this. I love it. I think I'm going to have a t-shirt made that says "Spike Fan. No Apologies" Brad told me today if I could get him Jennifer Garner for Christmas, he would do his damndest to get James Marsters for me. This is probably the earliest we've ever shopped for Christmas Now I have to go to bed, since I'm starting to write nonsense. Goodnight

I've never been anti-capitalist or anti-corporate in a general sense (specific cases, like those unethical ENRON execs are another matter), so I don't have much to say about the political commentary in this episode. Except that I didn't notice much.
When did Spike dance with Lorne? I must have missed it? 'Course, I only watched it once....Harmony did look cute dancing by her lonesome, and was rather graceful, which few of the Jossverse women are (athletic and vibrant yes, graceful, not too many).

GAIL Ah, I was funnin'. I was referring to the little jig that Spike and Lorne did when Lorne entered Angel's office early in the program. Spike was trying to leave; Lorne was trying to enter. The first time I watched it, it was funny, but the second time, while it was funny, just hit me as little "dance". So, that's where the "dance with Lorne and Spike" came from. Guess I still had Crosby and Hope on my mind.

Diane, The Nerd Alert itself isn't spoilery, but I had the same thought myself about the responses. I haven't had a chance to re-read them all so that's why I had refrained from recommending them to the unspoiled thread. For example, if "Spike" wrote to Anne and said, "and now I've come back all ghosty and am being sucked into Hell at the will of a demon living in W & H"--well, see, pretty spoilerish. EDIT: I'm not saying this type of thing is in the responses, just saying I believe that is why Anne asked the question. Sue Here's a thought. Tell the Great Unspoiled about the Nerd Alert! Make sure they know that a spoiler COULD show up. Let them decide for themselves if they want to risk it. Whatcha think?

I had an idea about the three Halloween episodes (two BtVS, and the AtS this week) and how they connect. I'm posting this hoping that someone will decide it makes sense and un-vague it up for me. I haven't seen either of the BtVS episodes in a long time, so bear with me. In the first Halloween episode, Buffy, Xander and Willow become their costumes. Guided by Ethan Rayne in their costume choices, they also become their inner, dream selves: Buffy wants to be a pampered, aristocratic maiden with no responsibilities, the opposite of the Slayer. Xander wants courage (which he has, but doesn't yet realize it). He becomes a soldier, courageous, competent, with special skills. Willow is conflicted. She wants to be provocative and go after the boy she wants, but she's too shy to go through with it. She becomes a sexy woman who takes command in crisis, but she also becomes untouchable, a ghost. In the second Halloween episode, the fear demon Gachnar brings out the inner fears of everyone in range. In this week's AtS, Lorne's inner demon is set loose (due to lack of sleep - no dreams!), and parallels can be made to Angel's inner demon, Angelus. So, I think Halloween in the Jossverse is about uncovering secrets - Secret desires, secret fears, and secret, well, demons in the psychological and real sense. Does this make sense to anyone? It is impressed I am at the insight revealed you have. Sorry. Geek moment. Channeling Yoda.

Okay, I got to see 3/4 of Life of the Party. I laughed out loud at most of it. Gunn peeing on Wesley's shoes was hilarious. At the risk of getting booed off the board, the Angel/Eve sex-fest was funny, too. I can't get the end of it, but I presume they were pretty cold to each other after. The last I scene saw was Mega-Lorne jumping off the stairs. I liked the whole episode Actually, the ending is quite different from how you imagine. IM me if you want a synopsis.

Ummm...I dressed in drag once. Therefore your interpretation is making me a tad bit nervous. Actually, I see Halloween as "Come as you aren't." It is just as much becoming something (anything) you are NOT as it is about revealing something hidden.

Especially as Angel gives everyone an assignment to do and Eve's is to have more sex with him. Her "I'm on it," keeps me wondering exactly WHAT she's on. Does anybody else get the impression that they were NOT doing missionary style?
