Shanno, Unless I misunderstood, John knows the character was supposed to be mixed race. I believe he was asking whether anyone knew if the actress was at least partially Black. (Like, actually hiring an Italian person to play an Italian character.) Oh! Doh me! I'll try to find out by way of making up for my idiocy... Shanno

I understand from my friend Mary that not everyone gets daily personalized e-mails from George W. Bush, the way I do. Oh, I am SO sorry...

I had an idea about the three Halloween episodes (two BtVS, and the AtS this week) and how they connect.
I'm posting this hoping that someone will decide it makes sense and un-vague it up for me. I haven't seen either of the BtVS episodes in a long time, so bear with me.
In the first Halloween episode, Buffy, Xander and Willow become their costumes. Guided by Ethan Rayne in their costume choices, they also become their inner, dream selves:
Buffy wants to be a pampered, aristocratic maiden with no responsibilities, the opposite of the Slayer.
Xander wants courage (which he has, but doesn't yet realize it). He becomes a soldier, courageous, competent, with special skills.
Willow is conflicted. She wants to be provocative and go after the boy she wants, but she's too shy to go through with it. She becomes a sexy woman who takes command in crisis, but she also becomes untouchable, a ghost.
In the second Halloween episode, the fear demon Gachnar brings out the inner fears of everyone in range.
In this week's AtS, Lorne's inner demon is set loose (due to lack of sleep - no dreams!), and parallels can be made to Angel's inner demon, Angelus.
So, I think Halloween in the Jossverse is about uncovering secrets - Secret desires, secret fears, and secret, well, demons in the psychological and real sense.
Does this make sense to anyone?

Excellent post, Anne! Halloween is about putting masks on and unmasking our true selves, or our dark selves, the selves we wish we could be, or all three.

Okay, I got to see 3/4 of Life of the Party. I laughed out loud at most of it. Gunn peeing on Wesley's shoes was hilarious. At the risk of getting booed off the board, the Angel/Eve sex-fest was funny, too. I can't get the end of it, but I presume they were pretty cold to each other after. The last I scene saw was Mega-Lorne jumping off the stairs. I liked the whole episode

How did you manage that, Caraleigh? And why 3/4 and not the rest? It was at the buffy.nu site. It is cut into 5 segments (maybe I shoud say I got 4/5 of it. I don't know math) but the 5th part wasn't up yet. I tried downloading using the bittorrent software, but it was going to take 221 hours to get, so I waited until the one cut into clips came up. Last week I could only get 2 parts of Hellbound, it was very frustrating.

This particular episode I didn't do a random thoughts thingy like I usually do, but if Gunn's urinating on Angel's chair isn't supposed to be foreshadowing, the writers will have disappointed me. That is very clever stuff if it indeed turns out to be the case.

Ummm...I dressed in drag once. Therefore your interpretation is making me a tad bit nervous. Considering some of the statements made by males on this board, I'm nervous too. Was the dress hanging in Vlad's closet? or Dave's? ;D ;D Seriously, I am very sure that you made a good-looking woman. Every time.
