There are only a few of us involved here. Might there be any merit to the WIP involved, Rob and Rusty (since S3 is temporarily unavailable/incomplete for your fiction), being zipped and sent as an e-mail attachment to the other active members of this Roundtable? If you think this is worth doing, my e-mail address is ndibble@cinci.rr.com and I have Word 2000 and therefore can read pretty nearly anything. However, it's probably best to save the file DOWN (Save As) Word 95 (one of the options in the bottom panel of Save As) in case somebody has an older WP than Word 2000, as is likely. You'd do this BEFORE zipping it. Winzip is available as a free download at ms.com, but is likely already on your computer. If all this sounds too intimidating, if you can some way e-mail the WIP to me, even in sections (with clear identification of which sections are which), either zipped or unzipped, I would undertake to reassemble, zip, and distribute them. I know I have Rob's e-mail, Kimi's, and Mary's; not sure if I have yours, Rusty, or not. And that's pretty much all of us at the moment, right? Does this sound worth attempting? You might PM me about this on the Board rather than answering here. If I haven't heard anything in awhile, I'll PM all of you about it. Or Kimi has a website and perhaps she might have some different suggestion. We'll see. Onward and upward! Um, I guess I should have read Nan's post before I replied to yours, Rusty. But mine includes my e-mail addy anyway, so not a complete waste of space. Mary

This is very nice of you and i'd like to do it so let me look for what are hopfully the final versions of chapters and see if I can get them to you.

The only place my older chapters can be found is the S3 site. I write my chapters in simple text emails and send them to Vlad, who formats (is that the right term?) and posts them. The only chapters I have on file are Triangles 18-22...right here in my Outlook. I didn't save anything else.
As far as emailing unposted current chapters, I'd be happy to email chapters 20-22 of Triangles to anyone who wants to read them. I've actually had chapters 20 and 21 in the can for a week; 22 was finished and sent to Vlad last night before I read about his illness.
I keep them in my email until Vlad posts them. I guess if I were to check my Sent Items, a good deal of the chapters would be in there now that I think about it.
Someday I'll break down and get Microsoft Office. I'd really like to have Word and Excel for various reasons...but alas, I do not.

So e-mailing doesn't sound practical for Rob, but maybe for Rusty. We'll continue to take this possibility under advisement OK?

Vlad always liked him best.(Channeling the Smother's Brothers). I had a disk deformatting problem for my 1st three chapters, but they were very short. Still working on the problem. There's a lesson in here somewhere. I hate when that happens!

I just decided I'm gonna put the FATAL AMULET into Enemy. Mwaaahahahaha! I just popped in to check in on my way to get ready for work! You evil, evil thing! Make Angel wear it! Make Angel wear it! Uh, if there are any Angel fans reading this... please disregard that outburst. I love Angel... he's just better without Buffy.

Nan-
You mentioned that some valued readers bailed or protested or something over your suggestion that Spike might have had some m/m sexual encounters. What exactly did they say? How many people? Did they tell you off and quit reading? I'm kind of curious about this. Okay, nosy.

I'm really busy right now, but maybe we could set up a date to chat here, Just to throw some ideas around. I'd love to hear more from you veteran writers about how you got into fanfic and what some of your expereiences on other boards have been. Tips for the newbies, etc. Rude and funny stories are always nice.
Nan did me a big favor reformatting my first two chapters that I tried to scan it from a hard copy. Now I discover I can't find the third. I hope I have a hard copy at work. Luckily my first few chapters were really short.

I just read a completely ridiculous Xander-centric fanfic....and it was surprisingly fun to read.
Supposedly, Xander is a billionaire businessman who steals art for the sheer pleasure of the chase. He's an important patron of the very museum he's a board member of, and when a beautiful insurance investigator comes to town....
The story is called "The Xander Harris Affair," (thought that plot looked familiar) and it's a cute, if ludicrous read.
One of my favorite moments in fanfic are writers who expose their native land through their dialogue. At one point Dawn asks Xander where he's going in such a hurry from the Magic Box...and XANDER HARRIS supposedly replies:
"Oh, nothing. Just a spot of bother at the museum."
Just priceless. Xander saying "spot of bother." The sheer silliness of it put a smile on my face, and that made it all worth it.

OK, since I read obsessively, this is a plot from some brief series that zoomed past my eyeballs in the last ten years. But who cares as long as it's fun. Advice from someone who's been html'ed. Download your chapters, in order, onto something. Disk, file whatever. I keep ponging my partials between three computers and I'm totally screwed as to which is my last version, since I can't access it on S3. My chaps got sent to an alternate dimension with the switch and our technopagan scarfed some bad blood and is OTL.

Sometimes I just click on links to links to links (and later can never find my way back), but ran into this announcement about a convention in July 2004 in Las Vegas just for fanfic writers. Here's the link: www.the-sandlot.com/writercon/index2.htmlI'll post it on the fanfic discussion thread and recs as well to get the widest possible exposure.
