Sooo...as a new mom, and an academic, I have GOT to comment on this week's House. For a start, it was so very reassuring to see someone else getting up an hour earlier than the baby just so they could get some "me" time - exercise, shower, etc. And then to see the baby wake up early and wreck it all. Even in fiction, it's comforting to know you aren't alone. Oh, and very comforting to see her put the baby in the shower and let her cry for a few minutes. But the thing that struck me most was the placement of the word "bitch" throughout the episode, to describe Cuddy. It bugged the crap out of me the first time, but then I realized it was a commentary on what people tend to think of a successful, driven woman who acts...well, in a way a man wouldn't think twice about. And by the episode, it was clearly meant as a compliment from the last man who used it. Speaking as a proud member of the bitch club myself, I was pleased to see the episode explore that theme with some degree of subtlety. We see her hard side, her "bitch" side, if we insist on calling it that, but we also see what it costs her to fire someone she likes...how much she loves her daughter...how hard she's trying to make her relationship work...how patient she is with nearly everyone in her life. Oh, and this is part of why I love House (the character) - he loves Cuddy not in SPITE of her being a "bitch", but because of it. In part. As does my own wonderful husband. Nice commentary. I almost taped the ep, even though I've given up watching regularly. May have to find it online now, though.

Sooooo, good ep last night. Wilson in the "porno" was killing me. I found the way they handled the whole blog thing intriguing. I think they handled the whole online-life thing with respect--they didn't seem to be ridiculing it or making fun of those who choose to be active in online stuff. Thoughts?

The cognitive mapping thing, where they could see what she was thinking? Awesomely cool! I totally understand why they all looked at Foreman in amazement that he couldn't see how wow it was. I mean, good that he was focused on the patient, yes. But still. Cool!!!
Also? Wilson was adorable looking at furniture. The big wicker circle? Heee!
"I'm supposed to . . . find me." "Backpack through Europe." HA!!

I, among others, gave up on watching House because it got pretty routine and boring.
But last night's ep had some interesting promos so I taped it. I found it interesting so if you've been a fan in the past it is worth finding the episode online.
Next week is possibly interesting as well.

Can't believe I missed this comment! I agree that they were relatively even-handed in their treatment of online-yness. House mocked like mad, but no more or less than he mocks everyone and everything.

Claustrophobic, among other things. I shall continue my habit of catching season openers and finales and skip the bland fillings. I found it very claustrophobic as well. I found myself squirming a lot and peeking through my hands at certain scenes. Good episode. Good finale, even if I did feel that House acted out of character on several occasions.

So, seriously? NONE of you are commenting about Huddy?
'Cause the first episode of the season? So good. I think Wilson crawling in the window was my favorite part. And House being...House in love. Still House, still manipulative...but for a good cause. Cuddy never knew the hospital nearly had to close down while she was gone.
And, "I don't want you to change." I wonder if she really knows what she has to mean by that. 'Cause he's SO going to keep grabbing her ass at the hospital and telling people what she looks like naked.
And Episode 2? Cuddy convincing Wilson that House isn't lying with the crotch-grab? I laughed myself off the couch. I love that woman, I really do.
My lesbian threesome: Me, Cuddy, and River Song.

Too much other TV on at the same time -- so I just gave it up. Read some reviews that it was good but I only ever watch one or two eps with him and then get either annoyed or bored and quit so it just fell down on my list.

Like strong women, do you? I like Cuddy's approach to the guys' prurient interests and her handling of the announcement. Also--nobody will supervise House! Too funny!

I had to watch that one twice!! So funny - and so true to character. And the look on House's face? OMG. How many emotions were going thru that man's body and coming across on his face all at once? I loved how they worked out their workplace interaction in the context of the MDOTW, which wrung tears out of me...even though the eventual outcome was predictable.

I'm finally getting around to Season 6 and it's really shaking things up. I always thought reforming House would ruin him but this baby step process is interesting because he's still a manipulative bastard - but he has more benign goals now.
Another change - I always admired Cameron and was kind of Meh about Chase but that's flipped now. the way she just left...
Stil in love with Wilson. You can all fight over House - I just wanna be nice to James. ;-)

The only thing better than a good Huddy episode is an episode with House and Wilson trying to get away with something.
