Okay. Time for grandkids!
[Tom is dating (5 years now) a Korean girl and Carolyn and Allie are both jealous because they've declared for 10 years that bi-racial babies are the most gorgeous. I know Diane agrees.]
When do you have to go back to work?

Okay. Time for grandkids! [Tom is dating (5 years now) a Korean girl and Carolyn and Allie are both jealous because they've declared for 10 years that bi-racial babies are the most gorgeous. I know Diane agrees.] When do you have to go back to work? Well, I know *I* have a preference for little hapa babies. I'm staying out until the New Year. I have to burn my leave anyway, and with all the holidays and whatnot, I have enough to take me through the end of the year (and then some, but I'm saving a week or two of sick leave in case she gets, you know, sick). She's generally cute...though yesterday was the Day She Didn't Sleep. At all. From 2 p.m. to 4 a.m., she was awake nonstop. Poor Dave (who takes the post-midnight shift if there is one). Both of them are out cold right now. Plus, since her night feeding is normally at 4, and she had JUST fallen asleep, I just left her asleep. She's over ten pounds now, and I'm just not gonna wake her to eat anymore. Plus, after 14 hours of being awake, sleep was more important than food this morning. She woke up at 7:30, ate, and crashed again. She seems to be stirring now, though. Of course, since she last ate at 10:00 last night (Dave gave her a bottle of expressed milk at midnight), there was a bit of an engorgement issue this morning. Not to mention the little rainstorm on my feet as I changed her diaper prior to her breakfast....

Oh, also? I stepped in a HUGE puddle getting out of my car at the computer doc store. And I'm wearing my crocs with the ventilation holes in them. Sock = soaking wet. And I can't stop sneezing. More complaints will be forthcoming as they make themselves known to me....... Oh yes, the sudden soaking of socks from unexpected icy water. One of my favorite experiences. NOT! Get warm and drink some tea. Hot shower ASAP. Take care of self. Self is important.

I had an idea, I did it, and it seems to have worked. It was just a small silly something in my studio, putting cardstock on the shelves of the wire corner plant stand so I can stand art dolls on them. But hey, I found all the tools, I found the perfect embossed vellum in my cardstock file box, I got the ruler compass put together, the scissors didn't slip. It worked first time. Go me? Definitely. Go you!

Is anyS'cubielse still watching Eastwick? I personally am ready to give up, with all due respect to Paul Gross, but The Husband still likes it. Probably because he sleeps through the actual program... Anyway, this week's, when we finally got around to watching it, was, well, much influenced by the "Halloween" episode of BtVS, with PG in the Ethan Rayne spot. Also, is it just me, or was wossname the Gay Divorcee* channelling Jessica Rabbit, what with the slinky red dress and the hair and the writhing all over the piano torch** song bit? Paul Gross or no Paul Gross, I'm very much meh about it. Perhaps I should strongarm Himself - we'll watch Eastwick, if he'll put up with that tape of Cranford I've had sitting around since I first recorded it. I just can't find time to watch TV during the day, and he'd rather watch Fox News if there's nothing else on. Here's a happy thought: Perhaps if this show tanks, PG will get his own show, like NF did with Castle. A woman can dream, can't she? *Gay in the old sense, see: Rogers, Ginger. **Torch in the literal sense. Talk about bringing down the house. You could do what I did - I childlocked Fox News (otherwise my inlaws would commandeer the t.v. and watch nothing else). Of course, now I forget the password. Not a huge loss, though. I did it all the time. Now I have a small selection of passwords that I use for everything. Makes life a little easier unless I forget WHICH of them I'm using. Getting older. Don't like it.

I'm at the point, right now, where I'd just as soon fast forward through the next four months (as soon as I mail in my ballot, anyway). I'm not up to the cold, the dark, the Thanksgiving and Christmas and getting right to the beginning of calving season, for all its life and death possibilities and hard work in the cold wet weather, at least it's getting lighter every day, then. Julia, the migratory birds are right. I'd just like to get past Thanksgiving and Faire.

"Besides, didn't you wear that like, five years ago? Shouldn't you move on?"
"I like it."
and also:
"That is the sexiest thing I've ever heard you say."

Or as many as fit in a German-Russian-English-Irish-African-NativeAm-Filipino-Vietnamese-Chinese background.
