Alleve Sinus & Cold is not unlike the sweet elixir of gods.
Headache's not completely gone, but the worst is past. And the pressure is my head is quite a bit better, too. And I don't feel like chopping my head off anymore either, which is, ya know, good and stuff.

I had an idea, I did it, and it seems to have worked. It was just a small silly something in my studio, putting cardstock on the shelves of the wire corner plant stand so I can stand art dolls on them. But hey, I found all the tools, I found the perfect embossed vellum in my cardstock file box, I got the ruler compass put together, the scissors didn't slip. It worked first time. Go me? Go you!

Is anyS'cubielse still watching Eastwick? I personally am ready to give up, with all due respect to Paul Gross, but The Husband still likes it. Probably because he sleeps through the actual program... Anyway, this week's, when we finally got around to watching it, was, well, much influenced by the "Halloween" episode of BtVS, with PG in the Ethan Rayne spot. Also, is it just me, or was wossname the Gay Divorcee* channelling Jessica Rabbit, what with the slinky red dress and the hair and the writhing all over the piano torch** song bit? Paul Gross or no Paul Gross, I'm very much meh about it. Perhaps I should strongarm Himself - we'll watch Eastwick, if he'll put up with that tape of Cranford I've had sitting around since I first recorded it. I just can't find time to watch TV during the day, and he'd rather watch Fox News if there's nothing else on. Here's a happy thought: Perhaps if this show tanks, PG will get his own show, like NF did with Castle. A woman can dream, can't she? *Gay in the old sense, see: Rogers, Ginger. **Torch in the literal sense. Talk about bringing down the house. You could do what I did - I childlocked Fox News (otherwise my inlaws would commandeer the t.v. and watch nothing else). Of course, now I forget the password. Not a huge loss, though.

Besides, I commandeer the car stereo if we're out together on weekend mornings. I must have my weekly Car Talk- Wait Wait fix, or things get ugly.

Talk about bringing down the house. While I enthusiastically approve of the idea of it being Jessica-rabbity, I think it was a direct reference to The Fabulous Baker Boys. referenced in the show itself, I believe. But I howled in approval. And she's not nearly gay enough: she keeps getting dragged down by the stbxh that she should just call lightening down on. Honestly, the kids would be happier, she would be happier, the viewers would be happier. Congratulations to Matthew on 33,333 posts! (I like to change things up a bit now and then.)

RACHAEL (and anyone else who has read or is reading Robert Sawyer) -- I just finished Frameshift and like it the best so far. Written in 1995 it has a ton of hard science stuff about genetics and DNA. Not sure at what point (if?) he crosses the line from proven science into fictional. Still has more going on than strictly necessary: at least 3 plotlines related to genetics (which, admittedly, he sort of ties together at the end) but 2 additional side plots. The one about health insurance (so very timely) also ties in with genetic testing, but the does the one about Nazi hunting really add to book or distract? Still -- the man clearly has a very active mind. And he also seems to usually include some thoughts related to the spiritual as well. It was a good read: Frameshift by Robert Sawyer. His...was it DNA sequencing?...where he described the experiment in detail? I was impressed - it was accurate except for the accelerated time. Yes, with an explanation for evolutionary jumps across the world. Now I'm only one where aliens visit. One thing the man absolutely deserves kudos on is that he has many, many, various and far-reaching different ideas. Also, he really does like to bring in historical genius and internationalism.

bwahahahahahahahahaha!!!! In the recent Castle episode NF spoofed his own role on Firefly AND Buffy. Woohooo!!! Still looks good in Mal's uniform! Mmmmm! Also, the Egg! A Buffy Homage fest! Julia, also, how did they make NF immediately recognizable as Poe?

Discussing the Cook county prosecutor's subpoena of all sorts of stuff from students in the Northwestern Medill School of Journalism -- due to their involvement in NU's "Innocence Project."

I'm still watching; Wednesday is my Mindless Amusement night and I'm fine with the piffle. Julia, one must watch Glee first; Eastwick has no logical faults at all, then

I thought it was meant to be a nod to The Fabulous Baker Boys, myself. I'm still watching, mostly because I would happily sit and listen to PG read the phone book. Not to mention the frequent shirtlessness of Matt Dallas. ETA: I see Matthew beat me to it. ;D Thanks, both of you. My brain is toasted swiss cheese. I think I even saw Fabulous Baker Boys once, come to think of it. It also didn't help my concentration that I was rereading Wyrd Sisters while we were watching. Odd coincidence, that I'd just reached that book in my Discworld-rereading festival. I too am a proud member of the Paul Gross phone book reading club, but there isn't enough of him, and the women are all pathetic and annoying and whiney and inconsistent. I'm with Matthew, what this show needs is lightning bolts. I'm reading Unseen Academicals myself; I'm reading out of order, and the opening of that book would have spoiled me for Rincewind surviving Sourcery if I hadn't already spoiled myself with Wikipedia; I'll probably buy Wintersmith next. Julia, I've read Wyrd Sisters twice already; it was the first Pterry Iread and I hadn't quite got the rhythm the first time

I'm at the point, right now, where I'd just as soon fast forward through the next four months (as soon as I mail in my ballot, anyway). I'm not up to the cold, the dark, the Thanksgiving and Christmas and getting right to the beginning of calving season, for all its life and death possibilities and hard work in the cold wet weather, at least it's getting lighter every day, then.
Julia, the migratory birds are right.
