Is anyS'cubielse still watching Eastwick? I personally am ready to give up, with all due respect to Paul Gross, but The Husband still likes it. Probably because he sleeps through the actual program... Anyway, this week's, when we finally got around to watching it, was, well, much influenced by the "Halloween" episode of BtVS, with PG in the Ethan Rayne spot. Also, is it just me, or was wossname the Gay Divorcee* channelling Jessica Rabbit, what with the slinky red dress and the hair and the writhing all over the piano torch** song bit?
Paul Gross or no Paul Gross, I'm very much meh about it. Perhaps I should strongarm Himself - we'll watch Eastwick, if he'll put up with that tape of Cranford I've had sitting around since I first recorded it. I just can't find time to watch TV during the day, and he'd rather watch Fox News if there's nothing else on. Here's a happy thought: Perhaps if this show tanks, PG will get his own show, like NF did with Castle. A woman can dream, can't she? *Gay in the old sense, see: Rogers, Ginger. **Torch in the literal sense. Talk about bringing down the house. I thought it was meant to be a nod to The Fabulous Baker Boys, myself. I'm still watching, mostly because I would happily sit and listen to PG read the phone book. Not to mention the frequent shirtlessness of Matt Dallas. ETA: I see Matthew beat me to it. ;D Thanks, both of you. My brain is toasted swiss cheese. I think I even saw Fabulous Baker Boys once, come to think of it. It also didn't help my concentration that I was rereading Wyrd Sisters while we were watching. Odd coincidence, that I'd just reached that book in my Discworld-rereading festival. I too am a proud member of the Paul Gross phone book reading club, but there isn't enough of him, and the women are all pathetic and annoying and whiney and inconsistent. I'm with Matthew, what this show needs is lightning bolts.

Deriviative, derivative, derivative--and not in a good way. The worst thing I can say about a show is, "Bored now." Bored now. Am enjoying True Blood. Vampire diaries--not so much. Buffy's gone. Angel's gone. Suddenly vampires are a drug on the market on TV. Can anybody guess how many vampire shows have been and gone since 2004? Do ANY of them even begin to approach? I didn't think so.

Thanks. And I just realized that all my favorite WIP Dean/Cas fics have either just ended or are about to end. I am most displeased with the events of this day so far. and now you can go back and reread your favorite fics over again, from the beginning, and savor all the slashy bits nuances and foreshadowing and all that. Thanks.

FML. Allergies have me feeling like crap, and I forgot my Ibuprofen and allergy meds at home. My laptop is messed up again. Black screen. When I first turn it on, the Microsoft logo comes up like normal, then it goes to black screen, though you can still see the mouse icon. So, I'm about to take it in to the computer doc to spend more money on it to fix it again. I've pretty much decided my next computer will be a Mac. It's raining and cold, and I forgot my jacket, and I'm about to have to go back out into that rainy cold again to take the laptop in. I keep getting emails about SPN conventions for next year, and I'm afraid all the tickets will be sold by the time I go to buy them, but I don't want to buy them this early because I don't know for sure if I'm going to any certain one yet. But I want to buy my ticket now, but I can't justify spending that much money on a convention that's just under a year away. I'm just all different kinds of bad-moody, and all I wanted to do was stay under the covers this morning. Meh. Do you have a Windows CD to boot up your laptop? If you do, then you can boot from the CD and then do some troubleshooting. Have some pretty smiling Misha for your bad mood: Yeah, I thought I had a Windows cd, but I couldn't find it. I just got back from dropping it off at the computer doc, so hopefully it won't be too expensive a fix. Not snipping smiling Misha because I need as much of that as possible today.

Re the fic. I know. I know. It's making me unreasonably sad! Seeing that we're just a couple chapters away from the end of tracy_loo_who's fic and savingfaith's fic, and having ended thevinegarworks's fic is just breaking my heart. I don't want them to end!

I've considered a Mac for some time now, but always wimp out on account of adjustment issues. Only Monk resists change more than I do. Hope the allergies stuff gets better. Thanks. I stopped off at the store and got some more allergy meds while I was out dropping off my laptop at the doc, and I'm finally sloooowly starting to feel the effects of it.

Those are 3 of my faves. Wasteland just kills me, it breaks me up into tiny little pieces and I almost can't breathe when I read it. And in Walk on Water when Dean was going to kill himself to follow Lucifer/Cas, I was just . . . . . . I love the light, smoopy ones but the deep angsty ones - just own me. I reread Tracey's Journey's End and the Forty First year over and over and they ALWAYS make me cry every time.

Oh, also? I stepped in a HUGE puddle getting out of my car at the computer doc store. And I'm wearing my crocs with the ventilation holes in them. Sock = soaking wet.
And I can't stop sneezing.
More complaints will be forthcoming as they make themselves known to me.......

Yep, the deep angsty ones are what usually feel most in-character, and therefore are the ones I usually love the most. Although, the really funny ones are some of my favorites, as well. ;D I tend to not care for the fluffy ones; not unless there's some angst and/or funny along with it, and only if they're in-character. But Tracy, savingfaith, and most especially thevinegarworks are my most favorite Dean/Cas authors. They are brilliant.

I had an idea, I did it, and it seems to have worked.
It was just a small silly something in my studio, putting cardstock on the shelves of the wire corner plant stand so I can stand art dolls on them. But hey, I found all the tools, I found the perfect embossed vellum in my cardstock file box, I got the ruler compass put together, the scissors didn't slip. It worked first time. Go me?

I am sometimes astounded at the level of quality work in fanfic.

I am starting to get bored but haven't reached the threshold yet. Vampire Diaries... sucked donkey balls. We didn't get past episode three (I didn't make it past the first one) before bailing.

RACHAEL (and anyone else who has read or is reading Robert Sawyer) -- I just finished Frameshift and like it the best so far. Written in 1995 it has a ton of hard science stuff about genetics and DNA. Not sure at what point (if?) he crosses the line from proven science into fictional. Still has more going on than strictly necessary: at least 3 plotlines related to genetics (which, admittedly, he sort of ties together at the end) but 2 additional side plots. The one about health insurance (so very timely) also ties in with genetic testing, but the does the one about Nazi hunting really add to book or distract? Still -- the man clearly has a very active mind. And he also seems to usually include some thoughts related to the spiritual as well. It was a good read: Frameshift by Robert Sawyer. His...was it DNA sequencing?...where he described the experiment in detail? I was impressed - it was accurate except for the accelerated time.
