I survived college! For the whole semester! Whee! I am all done for the day, the week, the month, and the year! Also, I got 65% for my essay, which the teacher thought showed I clearly understand modernism. ... I wish I understood what I understand then. Well done! Oh, Kitty's feckless ninny of a Lit teacher found her college essay. You know, the big project for the first quarter, the lack of which tanked her progress report grade. Kitty knew she'd turned it in, teacher thought she remembered grading it, but teacher lost it before she got around to recording and entering the grade online. Anyway, 95 out of 100. teacher. I wonder how many other peoples' homework she's misplaced?

My youngest's 6th grade teacher was good for losing or just not finding the time to grade papers. I should have warned my dentist when he started dating her that she was not the one for him...he is not a happy man 10 years later.

The numbers which gowith your good grades give me a case of the spins; one of the things which marred Anna's second year in University was a Theater History Class where the lowest passing grade was 75%, and the grade she needed to fulfill her departmental requirement was 85% (for a B- for our Americanreaders...) Julia, no, that's not standard, but in the US grade requirements are up to the instructor.

*sigh*
Emily's doctor thinks she might have reflux. She's been out of sorts for almost a week, just not herself, crying when she's eating, not sleeping at all in the day and only for two hours at a time at night. This in a baby who's been extraordinarily happy, and who had been sleeping five-six hours at night without waking. One night this week she woke every hour on the hour, crying. She also will just cry at random intervals during the day - never for long, but always like she's in pain.
Teething is possible, but unlikely in a two-month-old (though baby Tylenol does seem to provide some relief for her). She could have a low-grade ear infection (she has no fever, though). Reflux is the usual diagnosis if a baby cries while eating and those others aren't the problem. So we're off to the doctor. Again.

Rachael: I'm sorry to hear Emily isn't feeling up to par. I'm sure her doctor will have something to ease her upset.

I think, historically, you will find that the next 6 weeks (from Thanksgiving through New Years) is relatively slow/light as there are so many other RL demands on time. As for me, I've got a guy "prepping" for the painters and my computer is currently set up in the middle of the living room where it is surrounded by stuff from 3 other rooms (about to be painted) in addition to Christmas related stuff. Plus I have to go tutor and then run errands. It's frustrating because I want to reply to be, and Anne, and Rachael and rich and you and talk on the episode thread and the OT thread but just can't find the time. And I sort of go all "all or nothing" because I get frustrated just responding to some posts, not all. Anyway, I'm here, just not participating as much as I want. Sue

Good morning, S'cubies!
Two years ago Nick and I met online. Where did those 2 years go? Whoosh!
Carpe Diem!
Some carpe diem quotes I found awesome: Life is short, God's way of encouraging a bit of focus. ~Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.comDon't be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. ~Charles Richards Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think. ~Chinese Proverb Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive. ~Elbert Hubbard And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. ~Abraham LincolnFor a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way. Something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. ~Fr. Alfred D'Souzathough love be a day and life be nothing, it shall not stop kissing. ~e.e. cummings There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want. ~Bill Watterson, Calvin and Hobbes We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance. ~Japanese ProverbLove the last one and the D'Souza quote.
And the Buffy/Willow conversation in "Surprise":BUFFY: Will, what am I gonna do?
WILLOW: What do you wanna do?
BUFFY: I don't know. I... I mean, 'want' isn't always the right thing *to* do. To act on want can be wrong.
WILLOW: True.
BUFFY: But... to *not* act on want... What if I never feel this way again?
WILLOW: Carpe diem. You told me that once.
BUFFY: 'Fish of the day'?
WILLOW: Not carp. Carpe. It means 'seize the day.'
BUFFY: Right. I... I think we're going to. Seize it. Once you get to a certain point, then seizing is sort of inevitable.
WILLOW: Wow...
BUFFY: Yeah.
WILLOW: Wow... Life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death. ~Auntie MameIs it worth being good all your life ending up regretting only that you have nothing to regret? ~Diane

Lucas went through that at the 2 month mark. Had laparoscopic surgery to fix a constricted area between his stomach and small intestine (pyloric stenosis), which fixed him right up. Hopefully, that won't be the case for Emily, but if she needs it, it's no big deal nowadays. Good luck at the doctors.

Sue Timing is everything, right? ;D I do not envy you all the stuff you have on your plate. I'm trying to maintain two homes (not succeeding very well since mine is a disaster) doing lots of the stuff around mom's house that my dad would do, which leaves little time for anything else. I feel your pain. Still, I'd love to see more people around. . ..
