As per Vlad's suggestion, I jumping in without having read all the posts yet. Some kind of email address for all involved on this board would be great.
Previously...someone, it's too late and I'm too tired to go find it, suggested going to yahoo and creating an email for this board so we could contact each other. Good idea.
I don't know what was decided, but I feel that embedding URLs, secret emails, and other such 'secret society' stuff go against the ideal of what this place here is supposed to stand for.
I know we're all leery, I am, of letting too much info out into cyberland. Vlad, gotta hand it to you again, for providing your website and letting it all hang out for us all to see. But...some additional info in the profile provided us would be helpful.

Lee,
An email for the site was created:
scubiefan@yahoo.com
and it's posted prominately at the website and has been liberally tossed about here. Using it you reach first me (vlad) and then I can forward along a message to anyone whose email that I have.
Also, tho' you disdain (and I had my reservations also) "secret emails," a significant number of people have posted their email to be shared among fellow S'cubies. Also, should someone wnat to contact a person who isn't on the list, they may email me at the site address and I will forward the message to the best of my ability and leave it to them to decide on whether to share their email.
To gain thelist and to share your email with your fellow S'cubies, simply send me an email at:
scubiefan@yahoo.com
Currently the process is me using my judgement about who is or isn't a S'cubie and the standards are fairly lax. *L* Seriously, the folks that have posted their emails know how its going to be shared, and I have only been sharing the private site with those that I have seen posting fairly frequently and have significant interaction with the others.
So far, I havent seen a drop in postings due to any extra emailing. (In fact, I am having a heck of a time convincing people to use hte blasted system when appropriate! *L*) All in all, it seems to work.
Vlad, TA, tp
ps. Thanks for the sweet words about my so-called expertise. I am but a hack computer jockey. I do my best and learn as I go.
And yes, I did DOS. Remember TRSdos? I wrote a program for slot machine once in BASIC *L* Got me an A+ for my final project in Computer Math. Thus ended my formal eduction in computers in 1987 as I graduated highschool.
I am self taught. Tho', I have to admit my best friend lived with me during college at IU and he was getting his Masters in Computer Science. I have fond memories of soldering a 72 pin math-co socket on a 386 DX4 motherboard. Worked first time out. *L*
And one of my other good friends was *peers around to make sure the Feds aren't listening* a pirate duriing the BBS days. Between the two of them I learned a thing or three. Who woulda thought that things would be the way they are now?

Lee said, "Alexandra, want you to know I now have the BtVS episodes in a notebook so I can refer back to them."
I use my episode printouts from buffyworld.com all the time. I have taken to adding favorite quotes and scenes by writing them on the episode list pages at the beginning of each season - the list that has the summary, transcripts, and vidcaps links for each episode. Then I don't have to rely on my faulty memory for the quotes and scenes I like best. You made the notebook to bring order to the episodes you saw, was that right? That's what I had to do becaue I was seeing so many FX reruns interspersed with the Warner Bros weekend episodes from two different seasons. So confusing to someone who hadn't seen Buffy before season 6.

I look at Part Seven-Post #228 and see a broken link instead of the picture I wanted to show. Do you know why it does not display? I think there is one other like this further into Part Seven, so I may not be the only one who lost a picture. It doesn't display for me on either netscape or explorer. I'm stumped.

I went to your post 228 and you are correct in that the image doesnt display. At first I considered that maybe the original picture was moved or deleted or unaccessible temporarily at hte site where its located (ie. the site is down) So I took the link URL and pasted it into a browser and it worked. I remembered the picture as soon as it came up. It's the one with Buffy in a white sweater with Spike standing behind her.
I do not know why it isn't working. I too had some problems posting a few pics. *shrugs* All I can say is...welcome to the Hellmouth that is ScoopMe *wink*
Seriously, the boards here have been doing some really screwy things today so it's possible that the site is just not working right.
Hmmm...I just tried it again and it popped up briefy and then dissappeared to only leave behnd the URL. Curious.
I will investigate this and see if I can figure something out.

Yes, to bring some order to my disjointed, confused thinking and to also help me remember what the episode was all about when people on the board talk about one specific incident.
It just amazes me, what I see in the programs after I read these postings. Things I never caught. I stay so caught up in what is going on around the house that many times I miss these little details that mean so much. I go to buffyguide.com to get my info. they supply explanations to references characters make in the episodes, 'notable quotes', and other stuff. I'll check out buffyworld.com, thanks.
Everyone have a great day, I've got to go run errands.

I just felt I had to response(shortly) to a few things that were said about my post. It appears that my opinion about the inappropriateness of telling someone how to post is not shared by anyone else. Just to clarify, I don't have a problem with the English corrections going on within the frequent posters. Everyone feels like they know each other and its like a friendly conversation. And everyone seems to agree that it doesn't bother them. My problem was with criticizing someone who has never posted before, in essence, someone you don't know. It just seems that a group that calls itself inclusive, makes themselves exclusive by doing this, no matter how its sugar-coated.
As for me calling her just a teenager, what I meant by that was that they have different ways of expressing themselves. Before I decided to focus on my own children, I taught high school history. I am well aware of the wonderfully insightful things that you can learn from them, I've just found that you get more of it by encouraging them to express themselves, not discouraging them by putting them down. Many teens are great writers. My brother was published when he was still in high school. But many do not have the skills or confidence to say what they want and its a shame to turn them away before they have a chance to show you what they can do.
I think it was Nan who said something about people should post where they feel comfortable. I guess I just don't feel comfortable in an arena that isn't open to all who wish to post. I think I'll head back to the episode board where I can post more anonymously. I'm not leaving in a huff. I really have enjoyed most of the discussion, Spike, English, and otherwise, but I think I just don't fit in here.

Gia-short comment and I've got to go. I agree totally with your response. I don't know what happened, I haven't caught up on reading all the posts yet, but...writing is a personal thing, even if it is on 'just a board'. It's like laying yourself out there for everyone to see and then go back and see again. It's just...kind...of a naked body in front of the class. Comments on writing seem to go deeper than the same comments made in conversation.
I hope you stick around, I have enjoyed reading your posts. The only drawback to 'posting on boards' is the lack of voice and facial expression. I have been there with you on this one. I like Vlad's way of posting, you can almost see a face.
And...gulp...I hit the post message

You all may be successful in posting images. But I'm not successful in being able to see them. All I'm getting is a symbol that an image is supposed to be there. But no picture.

Gia -you said

I think many of us were hesitant to join in the fray b/c it made us uncomfortable and we hoped it would go away or be resoved equitably.
I am reluctantly responding now b/c I hate to feel that anyone is sufficiently discomfitted by other posters that they no longer post.
I myself had a short fro hah hah with another poster who objected to my way of responding to one of the editors ( she felt we had become too personal and I had thought we were just being acerbic.) She was discomfitted by the postings and I have to respect her response. And yes, my feelings were hurt by her characteristically abrupt way of indicating displesure with my posting.
My point is- this board has to traverse a difficult road between being "intimate" and contentious and being inclusive and rollickingly open to all comers. We do really well in some instances and not so much in others.
Please do not desist from (in?...nan?) posting- they are consistently interesting and provocative and I do not want to see this Miscellaeous board become too...incestous.
Please weigh in with other responses ... ooh and the countdown strts to the next Spikecentric episode.
( I think we should have a Xandercentric,Willowcentric and Dawn centered episode as well.)
My feeling

I actually managed to post two images. One in the testing zone, and one on this board. They're both gone now. And one of my failures from the testing zone is now posted to this board. Is it gremlins in cyberspace or have we violated a rule and been deleted?

Rusty asks: "Can we rest now?" on the topic of personal posts. I say YES, please! Let's just avoid "personal criticism posts" of any kind, including grammar (though I take full responsibility for Nan's last grammar post, as I asked for comments/suggestions on the board, not thinking how it would clog this board. We do plan to use the email for any future editing/grammar type comments on my analyses. With my analyses, I don't think content discussions are inappropriate to the board, but typo and grammar-stuff are).
But anyhow, instead of resting, I'd like to propose discussion on a Spikey topic, and invite others to do the same.
Let's see - how about Spike & Harmony? We haven't discussed that much. Despite Harmony's ditziness, I think she understood Spike pretty well, and, showed him more love than just about anyone has.
