hear ye, hear ye,
Weetabix is upon us! Umm... well, upon the site anyway. Look for the button right below Spring's wonderful analyses. It may not stay there permanently, but it will be there for now.

Take a look at the Tabula Rasa website. They have a series of interesting essays over there ,the most interesting of which are (to my thinking) those by RAMSES2.
This writer posits some interesting ideas about what and where Spike fits in and how the Gcooby Gang treat him. Do try it.

Vlad - I will try to email you when I get to work sometime Monday. I still have no way to send emails from home (still broken...). I can receive and read emails, just can't send them.

Vlad -
Did you figure out how or why the pictures we've put up have broken links? Did the Scoopme editors decide that they didn't want pics taking up space here? Or is it someting tecnical that suddenly affected a process that had worked perfectly well before? Do you know what happened?

The pictures are not in the posts--just the links. It may be as the thread and the individual posts are moved down the board, the links get broken. Just a possibility...

HARMONY: I wanted to add some praise for Mercedes McNab in the role. She does a great job. I would be curious to see Harmony's reaction to Spike now, and even more curious to see Spike's reaction to her. I hope we get to see her before the Season is over. Any thoughts on what their interaction would be like?
FANFIC,etc: Gosh, that site is really becoming something. Keep up the writing, Rusty & Rob. Vlad, I am astounded by how that site is coming along - maybe we can find a way to get linked from some of the other Spike sites - I'm proud of the place and want to show it off!
I am working on my "Lie to Me" review, which is the next Season 2 episode featuring Spike. It is almost done. NAN: I really mean it about wanting to hear from you through the email on any editing you may have, you are very good at it. So I hope your "retirement" as a Grammar Nazi only means retiring from posting publicly on the board.

If you know me at all, you should know the answer to your own question. :-) I'm gratified that some of you liked it. It took me 2 days to write what's already been posted (Vlad is a great editor, by the way), and I take more time with dialogue than anything else. If I have a consistent criticism with other fanfics I've read, it's unrealistic dialogue. We can't all be Drew Goddard, of course; I just want to believe that the things these characters are saying are true to their personalities....at least for now. I'm taking liberties later. :-)

I don't know why the pics seem to fade after time. The URLs are still good.
On the surface, Nan's comment had some merit for its reasoning, but the links shouldn't be affected by a relocation of the page. The coding of the link is still valid, no matter where the page the link is on is located. It was a good attempt at reasoning however, Nan. Wanna join my technopagan coven? You gotta good head on them pretty shoulders. We could use someone like you *wink*
I am suspecting it is something that the ScoopMe site is doing. Perhaps not an editor perse, but something the governing software is doing. I doubt that ScoopMe actually wants us posting pictures. Not because it detracts bandwidth (it doesn't do anymore than text, since thats all the "link" is). No, instead, I am thinking that ScoopMe doesn't want people linking to the outside world because of liabilty problems.
For one, if someone started posting pics of an offensive nature, they could be held responsible (true, they would proably win a court case, but who wants the headache?). Also, linking to other sites and using their content can be construed as an infringement on copywright. I didn't think that ScoopMe was run for profit, but I don't know for sure. Irregardless, it's a can of worms I am sure the people behind the scenes don't want to mess with. Nor, do I blame them.
So, in the end, I am proposing that the ScoopMe site doesn't want us posting pictures. I am thinking that there is some sort of software in play to disable that html command. The fact we are able to do so at all, is probably merely a hole in their defenses. The problems they seem to be having with their posting order, here of late, may have contributed to the "hole." It's possible some of hte safeguards were shut down during an attempt to rectify that problem.
Anyway, thats my best guess. I am sorry that I caused anyone frustration by showing how to do something and then having that ability snatched away.
your apologetic technopagan,
vlad

Spring, I would be pleased to have a look at anything you cared to pass by me, re grammar, punctuation, et al...if you promise not to hit me, call me names, or stomp out in a fury at any resulting suggestions/corrections.
Moreover, *I* would get first look! (preening nails on shirt)
My e-mail address is ndibble@cinci.rr.com. Send it on as an attachment, and be sure to tell me what it is (and that you're you, in case I don't recognize the addy...or my e-mailer doesn't and puts it in with the spam, and I have to rescue it from thence). I have the newest version of Word, so I can pick up and read nearly anything and then save it back in its original format, if it's different from what I have.
I'll look it over and send it back to you as an attachment, then you can relay it on to Vlad whenever you're happy with it.
I've only quit Grammar Nazi-ing in public. What two consenting adults do in private is no one's business but their own.

Why, thanks, Vlad! 'Fraid I'm not a pagan of any description--techno nerd is closer.
I used to say at work about troubleshooting other people's computer problems that as long as they kept asking questions the answer to which was about on the level of "Did you check that it was plugged in?" my reputation for computer expertise was safe.
Please note: kept it short because it's off topic.
