Wasn't he, the "we're taking your kid" guy? Yep. He reminds me of Jack's dad. Talking about not crossing a line, etc. Plus - he's a bastard. **nods**

Kate needs to stop puppy-dogging Jack. Oh, that's such a cute little baby. Ana is a better match for Jack. She hasn't got the starry-eyed "you're my hero" thing going, and he's already had that with his wife. I think that's what he's rejecting in Kate. He knows if he's a white knight on a horse, he's eventually going to fall off the horse. Good point. I also think that he's most likely very wary, given Sarah's betrayal, of competing for another woman's affections--especially since he didn't fare so well the first time around. Hell, he might not believe, in his heart of hearts, that he has a chance of making the story end any differently now. Yes - everything about the situation with Kate would be getting his hackles up, given his history here. The conversation between Jack and his wife was deliberately very, very much like Jack and Kate's conversation . . . we went from: KATE: "I'm sorry" JACK: "So am I", directly to "SARAH: "I'm sorry." JACK: "Me too." And there were other similarities as well, I remember noticing, but that's the only thing I remember.

Fun! They're gonna "talk"! Heeee! Charlie and Hurley bonding over records. ;D Hurley and Libby, sittin' in a tree . . . "This music is quite depressing." Walt the "very special boy" is just fine, huh. Ah! These Other guys have been stranded here longer and think of the island as their home and their just "defending" it. Hey! Maybe they are the abandoned scientists from the other bunker. Or just earlier castaways. And they're drawing a line in the sand. Wow! Jack steps up!! And, he's wrong. Or is he? Lots of torches, but . . . is someone holding each one? Oh crap - he/they have Kate. Well, you know they have to give in if he's gonna shoot someone right there. I don't think these are the same "Others" that were over by the Tailies. I think these are another group. I think the island is divided up into territories, each with its own society. Kate is really shook up. Well, a threatened death will do that to you. Or did something else happen? Did the guy say something to her? Kate is upset because she has displeased daddy (Jack). Very true. Displeased daddy!Jack and now blames herself for them not finding Michael. Which is not really true, but that won't stop her.

I think the Others came to the island on the Black Rock in the distant past (17th, 18th, 19th century) and that the island has "preserved" them somehow.

OK. I tried asking - but both poochies had fallen asleep. They tell me that unless Vincent's on screen, they're totally bored. They should've stayed up! They missed Vincent's cameo appearance there at the end. Interesting that the dog has glommed on to Ana Lucia. Is that some kind of a sign. First Walt, then Shannon, now Ana? ETA: Vincent is the Poochie Reaper! OH! The poochie angel of death!!

Perhaps the castaways have finally learned an important lesson here: when you're headed into enemy territory, you don't do it with a surgeon, a middle-aged Johnny Quest wannabe and a wounded smartass.
You bring every decent gun-hand you've got: Ana-Lucia, Sayid, Mr. Eko (if he were willing, which I doubt), Jin...and, yes, Kate. There was no decent reason to keep her from coming along.
Also? I have a strong impression that Ethan might not have been affiliated with the Boat People (which I choose to call them, since I don't think they're the Others). In fact, I don't know if we've yet seen who Ethan was affiliated with at all.
Whatever the case, I'm convinced there are multiple groups at work here, with various reasoning for their actions.

Jin and Sun continue to heal, that's wonderful. That was a very nice scene. Very . . . real.

I'd disagree on that, with the tenseness that they've been having. Confess it, yes, but not in the middle of the awkwardness and everything going on. They BOTH confessed to feel better in themselves, not out of concern for what the partner was feeling: While I agree he needed to tell her, I don't think that was the time: turns out the point was moot, but.... Once Sarah asked about Gabriela, I think the best thing for Jack to do was to be honest about what transpired. If he lied to her at that moment yet then tried to tell her about the kiss later, it'd have made kissing Gabriela seem even worse--after all, why would he not be upfront if it was ultimately just a mistake he instantly regretted? You could argue that, in a way, Gabriela represented Jack's professional world--the living embodiment of work as a man's mistress. So when he pulled away from her embrace, he was doing exactly what he told Sarah he wanted to do: he was deciding to try and be Jack the husband instead of Jack the doctor. I know I had another point I was going for, but a short night's sleep last night has started catching up with me in a serious way--I think all but 10 or so brain cells have officially packed it in for the night.

Bearded othery guy says Michael won't find them. I hope Michael gives up and comes back Maybe Micheal will end up being their scout. Out there finding out all the secrets of the different Others and then he can come back when they've built their army and help them rescue all the people who were taken.

Good that Jin and Sun are talking. They're getting to issues they need to talk about. They need to find a new way of being together - each of them needs to change and adjust. Wow. Hawaii very pretty. (Locke and Sawyer and Jack and Kate walking down the grassy hill - very pretty.) Ah, the uncomfortable chat with the wife. Points for telling her about the kiss right up front. Ah - this is a comparison scene! Comparing Jin and Sun with Jack and whats her name! But I don't think Jack's getting a happy ending. Yup. Mom was helping her pack. Ooooh! She's been seeing someone else. You will always need something to fix. Ouch!! Very true and very very ouch. Now, Kate's gonna blame herself and I think Jack will blame her a bit too. But I don't know that there would have been a radically different end result without her. Yes!!!!!!!!! Jack!!!!! Now that is an organized response to being on this island, threatened by unknown forces!! Did bearded guy ever say they had Michael? Or did he just imply that? 'Cuz I think they don't. I think Michael is still out there heading after Walt. I don't remember them even talking about Michael. I had the feeling that they don't have him, but they sure captured Kate quick enough. I wonder who Jack's wife's been seeing, and if it'll tie into the story somehow.....//thinking way too far ahead// What BOG (Bearded Other Guy) said was that "Michael won't find us". Implying that the Others are so orgainized and have been there such a long time (see speculation on Black Rock) and are so wood/island crafty, that they can make themselves near invisible if they want.

He knows if he's a white knight on a horse, he's eventually going to fall off the horse. If I'm not gonna get my smokin' hot threesome (and let's face it, this is network TV - it's so not gonna happen), then she needs to figure out what, and who (if anyone) she really wants. Jack can't be the white knight (although if he starts building an army, a knight could come in handy). And Kate can't be the simple "good person" that Jack wants her to be. Neither one of them is very realistic when it comes to the other. Ana-Lucia is a much better match for Jack. Hey, they can get all cozy while they build an army! ;D

Oh training an army! Intriguing! Should be interesting to see how that pans out. Maybe not so much about miracles after all. Very intriguing. More about how the miracle didn't happen, maybe? Showing us that our little gang doesn't always win?
