I think the Others came to the island on the Black Rock in the distant past (17th, 18th, 19th century) and that the island has "preserved" them somehow. Oh, that's an intriguing idea. So, they're still pirate-y slaver guys, just with a slightly more updated boat? Which I bet they stole from someone else who crashed on the island.

Good that Jin and Sun are talking. They're getting to issues they need to talk about. They need to find a new way of being together - each of them needs to change and adjust. Wow. Hawaii very pretty. (Locke and Sawyer and Jack and Kate walking down the grassy hill - very pretty.) Ah, the uncomfortable chat with the wife. Points for telling her about the kiss right up front. Ah - this is a comparison scene! Comparing Jin and Sun with Jack and whats her name! But I don't think Jack's getting a happy ending. Yup. Mom was helping her pack. Ooooh! She's been seeing someone else. You will always need something to fix. Ouch!! Very true and very very ouch. Now, Kate's gonna blame herself and I think Jack will blame her a bit too. But I don't know that there would have been a radically different end result without her. Yes!!!!!!!!! Jack!!!!! Now that is an organized response to being on this island, threatened by unknown forces!! Did bearded guy ever say they had Michael? Or did he just imply that? 'Cuz I think they don't. I think Michael is still out there heading after Walt. I'd disagree on that, with the tenseness that they've been having. Confess it, yes, but not in the middle of the awkwardness and everything going on. They BOTH confessed to feel better in themselves, not out of concern for what the partner was feeling: While I agree he needed to tell her, I don't think that was the time: turns out the point was moot, but.... Well, yes, the blurt was not done well. But, if things had been bad between them and then they did patch things together and then he told her . . . Well, that would have been not too good too. Best would have been a "let's really talk - let's take the time to just sit down and really talk to each other" thing. But that would be too sensible and if they were able to do that, well, they wouldn't have been in the spot they were, I guess.

How do you know for sure? You should try asking. ;D OK. I tried asking - but both poochies had fallen asleep. They tell me that unless Vincent's on screen, they're totally bored. #chuckle#

Kate needs to stop puppy-dogging Jack. Oh, that's such a cute little baby. Ana is a better match for Jack. She hasn't got the starry-eyed "you're my hero" thing going, and he's already had that with his wife. I think that's what he's rejecting in Kate. He knows if he's a white knight on a horse, he's eventually going to fall off the horse. Good point. I also think that he's most likely very wary, given Sarah's betrayal, of competing for another woman's affections--especially since he didn't fare so well the first time around. Hell, he might not believe, in his heart of hearts, that he has a chance of making the story end any differently now. Very good points.

Perhaps the castaways have finally learned an important lesson here: when you're headed into enemy territory, you don't do it with a surgeon, a middle-aged Johnny Quest wannabe and a wounded smartass. You bring every decent gun-hand you've got: Ana-Lucia, Sayid, Mr. Eko (if he were willing, which I doubt), Jin...and, yes, Kate. There was no decent reason to keep her from coming along. Also? I have a strong impression that Ethan might not have been affiliated with the Boat People (which I choose to call them, since I don't think they're the Others). In fact, I don't know if we've yet seen who Ethan was affiliated with at all. Whatever the case, I'm convinced there are multiple groups at work here, with various reasoning for their actions. **nods very very very much** #metoo#

I wonder who Jack's wife's been seeing, and if it'll tie into the story somehow.....//thinking way too far ahead// What BOG (Bearded Other Guy) said was that "Michael won't find us". Implying that the Others are so orgainized and have been there such a long time (see speculation on Black Rock) and are so wood/island crafty, that they can make themselves near invisible if they want. Thanks! I wonder if Michael is even going after BOG and his buddies. 'Cuz if the Clan of the Teddy Bear is a different group (and I bet they are), Michael might mistakenly be heading for them, since they are known to have taken the other kids. And as for the nic-name? I like it! BOG just kind of sums him up, doesn't it. ;D

There might well be multiple groups out there. Are the bearded grungy buccaneer-Others the same more sneaky-Others who infiltrated the Fronties with Ethan and snatched Claire and (presumably) the Tailie kids (and infiltrated the Tailies with plans to snatch the good people)?
Actually, yes, you do bring along the middle-aged Jonny Quest wannabe if he's the only tracker you have and he can also shoot well. And you leave the trigger-happy cop and the former Republican Guard behind because you can't leave the rest of your tribe bereft of soldiers if you and your posse don't return.
But, yay Jack - forming an army, or at least teaching Fronties and Tailies how to defend themselves, is a good idea.
Kate has serious authority issues; she's got to learn that sometimes one has to obey orders instead of haring off on her own. But hey, did you catch Sawyer getting all macho-bristly on her behalf when she was Evil Zeke's captive?
I still wonder what the heck Vincent is living off, and evidently living very well; he hasn't lost any weight. He's got to be merrily hunting and killing small animals somewhere...But he could go wild if no one pays attention to him and spends time with him; Ana-Lucia seems undecided about befriending him.
GAIL

GAIL I didn't say not to bring Locke; I said to bring everybody! The castaways continue to do the equivalent of bringing a knife to a gun fight by rendering themselves outthought and outnumbered. As for your opinion of leaving a few valuable people behind, well....that rationale works better if they'd been informed of what was going on. They were not. If they're truly going to be on a war footing, Jack isn't the one to be in charge. I guess that was my major point. This is more Sayid-Ana-Lucia territory...which would certainly create an interesting dynamic.

One of the initiatives of Hanso Corp. is a life extension project according to their enigmatic website. www.thehansofoundation.org/

Stayed up for Jimmy Kimmel. Mr. Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbajeh) says that Mr. Eko survives the encounter with the smoke monster because he is good. The lost monster only consumes what is evil.

Ooooh. Sawyers real name - or at least the name he booked the flight under. Locke always has a way of . . . just tossing information out there to see what the response will be. Yep. I love that.
