Just got it done and off, and Vlad will post it when he has a chance. At least it resolves part 10's cliffhanger. Now I'll actually go and do something on this nice, sunny day.

I don't know whether to be relieved or bummed that ellie broke up my posting spree. A few meaningless numbers: Tracking 12 hour time periods (8 am to 8pm as "day" and 8 pm to 8 am as "night"), when there is no new episode discussion we tend to average from 70-110 daytime posts and 60-80 nighttime posts. Sat. between 8 am and 3 pm we had 17 posts in 7 hours. This may be a record low. From 4pm to 11pm (as people got in/back from morning chores/activites) we had 63 posts in 7 hours. Then: Sat nite posting explosion: 11pm-12am: 12 12am-1am: 38 1am-2am: 36 2am-3 am: 22 PEOPLE! WAKE UP! I mean GO TO SLEEP! Don't you know that sleep deprivation is an epidemic in this country!!! (Again, I've got 3 teens--this is THE MOST ignored lecture in my entire repertoire.) I'm not breaking down the numbers according to poster--you know who you are! Just kidding, truly. (Posted at 3:28--edited at 4:21, proving the edit button lasts at least 53 minutes. Anyway, I've just contributed 10 posts out of about 20 over the past 90 minutes so I'm the pot (calling the kettle black)).

Well, I was channeling Patti's posting style. Besides, I'd be honored to be confused with her (except I'm not usually up at 2 am--see previous post.)

I do NOT want to see a repeat of Big Bad evil soulless vamp Spike. Been there done that. I think there's enough of a difference between Spike and Angel for them to be on the same show doing different things. Angel broods, considers, tries to do the right thing and help people, work towards redemption, revive Cordelia. Spike goes out, has fun, tries to do what he wants without killing innocents (but what's a demon or two), raises hell in the local demon bars, gets in trouble, considers himself souled so who needs redemption, etc. Heck, whether he's human or not, I can see Spike joining a band, maybe hanging out with Lorne, busting some heads with Gunn if Gunn is still in the head-busting business. (or butting heads with Gunn, or Wesley, or practically anyone).

Gail said: //I do NOT want to see a repeat of Big Bad evil soulless vamp Spike// I mentioned the possibility of Spike having to give up his soul (this is based on the theory that there is a disturbance in the forces surrounding the slayer line (Beljoxa's Eye) and having a vampire who sought out a soul might be one of those disturbing forces). I in no way meant for him to return to season 2 Spike. He was doing good things in seasons 5 and 6 without the soul (altho, he was clearly still lacking moral guidance). I meant it would be interesting to see whether he could continue on that path without the soul--or a chip. Farfetched, I know, but one of the possibilities. How is it that no matter how many theories I/we concoct I have the feeling that ME will come up with something surprising? (Did anyone predict the Wood/Spike scenario?)

ellie: Someone - somewhere in either yesterday evening's, or early this morning's, posts (I'm not sure if this Part 26 or 25) mentioned Joss making a comment about "Marsters owning" a good portion of the finale. I couldn't remember who said it, and couldn't find it again in the mess of stuff from last night/this morning. I can't remember where he/she saw the article --- can the person who posted this originally please speak up?

Hi, I was the original perpetrator - it's from the Farewell To Buffy article in next week's Entertainment Weekly (we subscribe so got it Friday). The quote was from JW, that in the final episode, JM "owns a lot of this episode". ***Possible Spoiler Warning*** Please note that those wishing to remain unspoiled should avoid the Entertainment Weekly article, as there was at least one thing about the finale that I hadn't read anywhere before.

I definitely want Spike to keep his soul. I can see where it might make for some interesting story lines for him to lose it again - but no. He worked so hard to get to the place where that he was in a position to even think to go after it, then he actually got it against all odds. So it would be horribly sad to see him lose it. God knows I wouldn't want him to regain it via a "Willow spell" ala Angel. Spike, unable to have sex, is no Spike at all.

Spring said: //On the Shansuing - I will be upset with Joss for allowing such a thing - a major development to a central character with no groundwork laid in BtVS itself// You know, that situation: "a major development...with no groundwork laid," has been bothering me somewhat in reference to the somewhat sudden appearance of the enchanted sword, and the amulet on Angel. I wish Beljoxa's Eye had given some hint to those developments instead of the (still totally ignored--it really bugs me that we haven't seen Anya, Giles or Buffy refer to that info) stuff about the Slayer line. Did they even tell her? With all the sniping Anya's been doing you'd think she'd say, "well, it's all because you're alive, all we have to do is send you back to heaven..." On the other hand, maybe one reason Anya has been so anatagonistic is guilt over her part in bringing Buffy back and the consequences. Oops, got off track. Back to my point. Both the sword and the amulet seem to have come totally out of nowhere, no foreshadowing, etc. Bugs me a little. It's not quite as bad as th PTB suddenly showing up, or finding out that there is a "First Good", but still...

If you go to the ScoopMe home page, there is a nice essay by Kara Vichko listed under "Extras." There are no spoilers at all, so feel free to read it. (On the other hand, I'm guessing you should avoid "Inside Dish.") Edited By Sue P at 5/11/2003 4:20:00 PM.

Vlad said: "Diane sold her inflatable, life size "Spike" doll, the one with the "real textured lips" and the "action kung-fu grip"? Oh my! Diane, darling, what were you thinking?" She was thinking of me, Vlad. And Diane, don't worry, "Spike" is in gooood hands.

Well, it's clear to me that the edit button last for an hour (at least mine does) and in fact you can go past the hour time limit if you leave the message up. (I posted something at 3:31:58, then came back to it at 3:28. The edit button was still there, so I let the message sit and accessed it, as if to edit, at 3:34. It let me in, but after I "updated" the edit button had disappeared. So: one hour, plus you have to make a "transaction" on the board after the hour expires and then the button disappears.) I'll be back when I can think of more fascinating but useless information for you.

Rob, I miss you too! Give up that silliness called real life and come back to your bosom buddies. And you can come visit Vlad and Dave too.
