OK! I made a mistake in the previous subject line. I left out a word. It was a mistake. Enough.

Becky said: "This is probably a rhetorical question but, for those of you lucky enough to have seen JM in person at conventions, does that favorably influence your view of Spike?" Becky, don't know how much more favorable my view of SPIKE could get...it's pretty up there at the top already. But having seen James Marsters in person certainly did nothing to create any UNfavorable view of either the character or the actor. (And I still think, even after his protestations that it is the writing, that the character is made up of pieces of James.) He was lovely to us. I wish I had been at the cocktail party, because I read all about that later on another website, and James did a lot of talking politics and stuff, that he didn't do in any of the other venues. Also, he stayed 3 hours, double the time he was contracted to stay. He was very generous. But he and I have pretty much opposing political views, and it would be interesting to know if his incredible charm would have kept me enthralled if he were saying things I disagree with. Because, in the Q&As, at the dinner, and in the autograph lines, he assured us that his 'giving' to us was because he perceived us as 'giving' to him. There's something very charming about being charmed...and knowing it's intentional. (Knowing he was chosing not to act like a b*****d, that he felt 'safe' with us. VERY charming.) So...if he were saying things I disliked? It would just have been an interesting experiment. Wonder if his charm could have convinced me of opinions my reason can not. Very long answer, sorry. But it got me thinking.

I've been around. Outside of writing Triangles I've had little to say. Vlad, I fully admit that I wrote the goofy chapter 6 to make myself smile. Clearly that didn't work for anyone else, but it made me feel a little better, and it made sense in the context of my storyline. Xander's mind is going to have wackiness. His wackiness went a long way toward keeping everyone sane over the last seven years, so I decided I wanted to see it one more time before I never saw Xander again. I'm going to try to have Chapter 8 finished by tonight. Happy Mother's Day everyone. Oh, and Vlad....you deserve that gift. You gave us one just by doing the things you do.

Ellie said "that was pretty funny- thanks though I have to concur with Patti- as to preferring the lean and lithe look. " Ellie, I didn't say that, Sue did. You don't want to get my posts mixed up with Sue's. Oil and water... I hope that subject line was clear and informative and all.

Sue said: "(Did anyone predict the Wood/Spike scenario?)"
Yes, I did! I think it was from the time he said something like 'when you see evil, you can't un-see it' - I thought - he's related to the black slayer Spike killed. But I thought he was maybe her younger brother or something. From that point I knew there'd be a showdown. I just hoped he wasn't going to KILL Spike, or that Spike wouldn't end up killing him and the soul be for nothing.

I believe it was Alexandra who mentioned that she had received this week's Entertainment Weekly, and an interview with Joss included his comment that James Marsters 'owned' much of the final epiosde.

Spring said "God knows I wouldn't want him to regain it (his soul) via a "Willow spell" ala Angel. Spike, unable to have sex, is no Spike at all." Or...no, I will just this once, refrain from the obvious. I'm with you Spring (as is usual) on this. I want Spike to keep his soul, with no strings attached. (Not even kite strings!) I want him to stay a souled vampire, but IF he's gotta be human, so be it, James (and Joss) can make Spike interesting even without the fangs, but maybe he could retain the fightin' abilities? Would be a shame for James not to get to do what he likes most - fighting. I'm going to miss the coat though...maybe he could get a NEW one!

Hi Sue. I'm a sucker for understanding the mystery of the Edit button too. My previous experimentation with it has shown no time-limit (i.e., I can't alawys edit something even immediately afterwards). I had also hypothesised that it was related to the post being quoted or replied to, but the immediate disappearing of the Edit button blew that out of the water too. I have heard rumours that it is related to the computer, but I once saw the Edit button and nothing about the computer has changed even though I have never seen it again. So, sorry I only have negative information to provide. I still can't tell you how it works, but I am thinking of actually asking the ScoopMe people how it works, but . . .

Kerrie said: "I am thinking of actually asking the ScoopMe people how it works, but . . . " Kerrie, its been asked before, and it remains one of the mysteries of the universe. Some of us (ME) have never seen it. But soon, no one will, as Scoopme is going away in late June, or July, sometime like that. However, The Soulful Spike Society will remain! Never fear. And we will have an edit function that works for everyone. So promises Vlad.

I know that Alyson Hannigan turned 29 earlier this year. Her fiance, Alexis Denisof, is in his early 30s (33-34), as is David Boreanaz (31-32). Charisma Carpenter was always the old woman of the group, she's mid-30s (34-35). Sorry, Don't recall specific ages for most of these folks (only Alyson I know for sure, the other specific ages are a rough estimate). Angel is approximately two and a half centuries old; in season 1, Buffy was 16 and Angel was 224 years older than her. I'm sure there are those who would know Spike better than I, but probably at least a century old, considering Angel came to America and stopped feeding on humans 80+ years ago. I've always understood Spike to be about a century and a half, but I can't back that up. I don't think any statement has been given on Giles' age, but considering he was a rebelous teen/young adult in the early 70s (or so he told Xander in "Beer Bad"), he's now in his late 40s, early 50s.

//Well, it's clear to me that the edit button last for an hour (at least mine does) and in fact you can go past the hour time limit if you leave the message up.// For some people. I never get an edit button, not even on a post I just immediately posted. Nada, zip, bubkis.

Please forgive me if this question has been asked before and/or if I offend some people by the implied criticism of Spike. It just has been playing on my mind for a while and when I try to talk to my husband about it (my only other BtVS viewer) he tells me nothing except Spike is evil. Now to the question. Given that fighting makes Buffy horny and Spike knows that is the case, did Spike manipulate Buffy into having sex with him by picking a fight with her and making her emotionally vulnerable? To me it seems like a soulless thing to do and doesn't really sit happily, but it is possible. On a related matter. When I first watched "Smashed", Spike makes preparations for his desired date with Buffy. He lghts some candles and scatters rose ptals (I think) in his crypt, before leaving to ring Buffy. I read a description of the eoisode on the official Buffy web-site (before it changed name) and it describes Spike's preparation and also said that there were hand-cuffs and a stun-gun in the back-ground, which I had not noticed. At the time of viewing I was not a huge BtVS fan so I did not tape the episode. However, I got the videos for Christmas (I couldn't wait for DVD)and there was no scene of Spike making preparations. I read Leoffonline's wild-feed and he doesn't mention it either. What happened to it?

ok, let me get this straight -- you can't French? you have got to be the first person I've ever known .... Ad do you think Spike would be interested in a g/f who can't French? Darlin, I'd be looking to take some lessons at some point if I were you.
