David said: "I'm sure there are those who would know Spike better than I, but probably at least a century old," Ok, I can do this one...in Season Four, 'The Initiative', when Spike couldn't bite Willow, she asked him 'Maybe you're trying too hard. Doesn't this happen to every vampire?' and he protests, 'Not to ME, it doesn't!' and later he complains, 'I'm only 126!' It has never been established on the show whether vampire age includes the age of the human before turning. So, we just know that Spike is 129 in vamp years. James Marsters is 40, turning 41 in August.

//Never fear. And we will have an edit function that works for everyone. So promises Vlad. // The current board functioning on the S'Cubie website has functional edit capabilities. Now, Vlad has insisted that the proboard is a test, that he hasn't 100 percent decided that's the way we're going (although he hasn't replaced it recently with any different test platforms, to note). However, do know that now that we've experienced a board with edit capabilities and he were to go and do something really boneheaded like replace it with a board that didn't have one, well, he could probably expect his castle to get stormed by a mob of angry peasants. Oh, Vlad, not that I think you're boneheaded enough to consider doing such a thing, just making the point that it would be very boneheaded if you did. That's all.

Patti, That was a lovely and helpful post heading (my husband is an educational psychologist--he's big on positive reinforcement). I hope I didn't offend or hurt your feelings? I just wanted to back Nan up and explain why I found specific headings to be helpful. Sue

Kerrie asked: "When I first watched "Smashed", Spike makes preparations for his desired date with Buffy. He lghts some candles and scatters rose ptals (I think) in his crypt, before leaving to ring Buffy. " Kerrie, I don't recall ever seeing that scene, and I THOUGHT I'd seen that episode when it first viewed, perhaps I am wrong. I do know that the original script called for Spike making elaborate preparations for his 'date' with Buffy, including the candles and rose petals, setting out handcuffs and a stun gun, etc. all the stuff he would have assumed meant 'romance' after his 100+ year relationship with Drusilla. The writers thought that would be a funny scene but the network censors were horrified and that scene got cut. I thought it was completely cut, but if you saw rosepetals, I'm wrong.

//Given that fighting makes Buffy horny and Spike knows that is the case, did Spike manipulate Buffy into having sex with him by picking a fight with her and making her emotionally vulnerable?// When did we establish that Buffy got horny from fighting? I know that Faith was always open about it having that effect on her, but I don't recall Buffy being so forthcoming. As for the rose petals, don't recall that scene either. I do recall Angelus doing it in Giles' apartment, when he left Jenny Calendar's body on Giles' bed (S2 "Passion").

//It has never been established on the show whether vampire age includes the age of the human before turning. // An interesting question, whether or not vampires include their human age when calculating their vampire age. I'd never really thought about it, but to me it would make sense that they don't since for most, becoming a vampire is sort of a re-birth and they see the clock as restarting. As for Spike's human age, well, he did say he'd been alive a bit longer than Buffy, and dead alot longer than that. I suspect William was mid-20s when sired, probably 24-25.

Patti, Does anyone remember the year when Angelus was cursed with the soul? If William was about 26 when he was vamped and that is included in the 126, then he would have been turned just about 1900. Something tells me this is after Angel was cursed. By indirect proof (is it inductive or deductive reasoning....who cares), the 126 probably does not include his human age since Spike knew Angel for some interval of time before the curse. I'm pretty sure Charisma was 25 when hired (32 now--playing a 22 year old, esp after pregnancy--it's a stretch) and DB maybe was 24--31 now. That's a good deal younger than JM. (I've also wondered whether his actual age may also be one of the reasons Spike appeals more to the older fan, and Angel to the young fan. Although, I don't think his actual age was known until recently and you said there were lots and lots of young female fans at the convention.) I'm looking forward to hearing from Miss Pamela and deborah. My son called from NOrthwestern to wish me happy Mother's Day and I told him if he really loved me he'd be down at the Radisson stalking James and getting me a personalized photo. He laughed.

Too many fans have re-done the math and asked, "Ok, if Liam was 20 on XYZ date, and Angelus was 100 on ABC date, at what point did he get into the time machine and go backwards 400 years?" Here is Angel/Angelus' history according to the watchers journals that Giles read in BtVS S1 "Angel": GILES: There's mention some two hundred years ago in Ireland of, of Angelus, the one with the angelic face. BUFFY: They got that right. XANDER: I'm not saying anything, I have nothing to say. GILES: Does this, uh, Angel have, um, a tattoo behind his right shoulder? BUFFY: Yeah, it's a, it's a bird or something. XANDER: Now I'm sayin' something. You saw him naked? WILLOW: So, Angel's been around for a while. GILES: Not long for a vampire. Uh, two hundred and forty years or so. BUFFY: Huh! Two hundred and forty. Well, he said he was older. GILES: Angelus leaves Ireland, uh, wreaks havoc in, in Europe for, uh, several decades, and then, um, about eighty years ago, the most curious thing happens. He, he comes to, uh, to America, um, shuns other vampires, and, and lives alone. There's, there's no, no record of him hunting here.

Kerrie said: //Given that fighting makes Buffy horny and Spike knows that is the case, did Spike manipulate Buffy into having sex with him by picking a fight with her and making her emotionally vulnerable// I'd vote no. I think he was just so pleased to 1) be able to hit Buffy and 2) surprise her with the information that he could hit her that he hadn't thought beyond that. Also, I thought he was surprised when she initiated the liplock. I also agree with David that we've never been told (explicitly) that fighting made Buffy horny, and how would Spike know that? In fact, when Riley apparantly left her unsatisfied she used fighting to work off her sexual tension. The only thing that argues in favor of the possibility is that is would be just like one of Spike's plans: "Maybe if I pick a fight with Buffy and beat on her, she'll want to have sex with me."

ARRRRGGGGHHHH! Slaps self upside the head. No, no, no--I just wanted you to head your post: "Innuendo Inside" so I would know to be sure to read it!!!!! Now give, what was the line? . . . . . Three times since I have begun posting I have typed a post and then said to myself, is posting this really a good idea? Unfortunately in all three cases I went ahead with the post. All three have turned out poorly. You'd think I'd learn. (The first was when I made a thinly veiled reference to one of James' posts and he took it (as it was meant) personally and I had to (appropriately) apologize. It's nice that we are posting buddies now. The second was when I quoted another poster and included (her) word for a body part without euphemizing and was chastized for my language by another poster--on the Angel board. Another apology. Third time: Patti, I'm sorry. I never met to stifle you in any way, or make you self-concious about your posts. The rest of the board will string me up by my thumbs if you start self-censoring!) P.S. Now I've read your post #90, and as a possessor of the wonderful edit button I will add: (bitca) too. Please ALWAYS tell me when I have stepped over the line or on toes so I can make it right. Sue said: "I hope I didn't offend or hurt your feelings?" You did, actually. But I'm SO over it now. I'd love to do that Willow/Buffy scene at the end of 'Dead Man's Party' where they insult each other, but it's hard to tease with insults on a message board because you can't see the expressions or hear the tone of voice, and feelings get hurt unintentionally so I won't start.
