What if Juliette has a little I wish mind thing working for her, could be why the ex got slammed by the bus, Could also be why sis is pregnant. I mean I am not saying she isnt a great Scientist but If she really wants something bad enough maybe she can make it happen with an untapped hidden ability. Kind of a Walt type thing, but not to the degree that walt has the ability. After all they did let Walt and Michael go because "they could not handle Walt." I think maybe she has an untapped ability. That or the Dharma Initiative is really that sick and twisted. Which could very well be. I just think there is more to her than meets the eye. Special powers would be cool. And would be an even stronger reason for the Dharma folks to want to recruit her.

It's a good thing the Lost schedule is 15 more in a row, 'cause I'm likely to hang in there until the season ends. If there were going to be all those interruptions I think I'd fade away. I'm kinda hoping a tsunami comes along and washes all the Others away and miraculously spares the Flight 815 folks. That's how little I care about them. If the storytelling shifts away from the Others and back to "our gang" then I'll be fretting in the back of my mind waiting for the plot to derail in the direction of "The Others" again. On another note, did anyone watch the "clip" episode the hour before - the Lost Survivor Guide? I wasn't impressed myself, but was giving it some leeway as it was intended for newbies. I found it very condescending and flippant. But my husband watched it too, having never watched Lost and he was very critical of it. He said the "guide" actually turned him OFF from ever watching...and yep, he went and put on the headphones and listened to the Clash while I watched the new ep. I have been turned off with the "not getting anywhere" storyline for quite sometime, but continue to watch because I really enjoy several of the characters. The last huge hiatus, after only 6 episodes, nearly ended me as a viewer. I thought it was a horrible idea, and I felt very... ambivalent when the show started back up. Thankfully they are showing it straight up all the way out for the rest of the season. I don't know if I will continue watching it after this season. I have heard rumors that it may only be back for one more season. If that's the case, and they wrap it up, I'll be there... if htey jsut keep dragging it out X-files wise, I will be done. I have taped and cataloged every episode of this show since day one. It was originally because I was reviewing it. Now it's jsut a bad habit. So, I did tape the "catch-up special" but didn't plan on watching it, having been disgusted with the several others they have aired over the seasons. However, I took the tape, episode as yet unseen to my viewing buddy's place to watch with him and rewound it a little too much by about 10 minutes. I took the opportunity to use the camode and fix me a drink. When I came back it was nearly over and my buddy looked slightly glassy-eyed (and no, he doesn't do illicit drugs ). Then they commenced to show an even shorter version of "last time on LOST" that showed the same things I had just seen at the end of the hour long program. My buddy managed to communicate to me that I hadn't missed a thing. Vlad I didn't watch it 'cuz I figured I didn't need it. Now y'all are making me glad I didn't.

Sooooooooooooo happy that most of our guys are off that nasty, wet and dark little island. Man, that is a depressing place. I can't wait to see the reunion. **nods** I'm worried about Karl, too. I'm kinda stunned she actually let him go. I mean, he's gotta have all sorts of information about the Dharma people and what they're doing. Unless the Others are really convinced that they've wiped his mind, he's going to be a great resource for the Losties. I think Benry might try to turn him into a Juliette replacement. Well, not in a romantic/sexual way (I may like slash, but Benry? Ick!), but in a doctor-to-do-my-research-bidding way. Dude - when I saw them out talking and the bus was in the background, I was all "here's his bus, right on time". ;D I can't see it as a true coincidence. With these Dharma folks, coincidence is spelled c-o-n-s-p-i-r-a-c-y as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, I really want to know what's happening with Sun and Jin and Hurley and Sayid and the rest. Oh! I just had a thought. What if the Others did the same kind of brainwashing on Michael that they were trying to do to Karl?

Yep - he needs a surgical assistant. Well, it would be nice if it were someone that can stand the sight of blood, but you can't have everything. And I called another one. They aren't going to let Alex go. Seems like a rather extreme case of daddy not liking the young man his daughter is seeing, if you ask me. And so the story he told way back then is all appropriate to now and stuff. The surgery gone wrong, but then he saves the patient, getting over your fear, etc. That was kinda dumb actually, Kate. You should have waited until you were out to sea before talking to Jack. 'Cuz I kept waiting for Juliette to shoot you guys before you pushed off. I mean, you could always have dropped the walkie talkie overboard if you were worried about it being used to track you. Jack. So noble. Promise me you won't come back! Sob some more, Kate! Beat your noble breast and rend your garment, Jack! Sob! Noble! Sob! Noble! Quick, Sawyer, take your clothes off.
OK, that really has nothing to do with the plot, I just wanted someone to give me a little skin. Someone other than Benry, that is. Yep. I was right about lab guy, standing there with Ethan. Um. She doesn't blame herself, but I think she sure has some questions about you. He knows about the pregnancy too. So, did she join willingly and then it got ugly or did they make her join? Now we know they're holding her on the island, so it wouldn't be that surprising if they coerced or forced her originally. *gasping, not able to breathe from the laughing*

Coda
Too much darkness. Can barely see.
So this is a flashback.
Ethan Rom, Juliet only knows in passing. He? Who he?
Anti-cancer drug?
Juliet's sister.
Miami.
Not an Oceanic plane? Weird.
Back to this conversation.
This is fucked up and not very exciting.

Part I
Milettos Bioscience. Dr. Alpert.
Very different personality in during the phone call. Just likes to put on a front or a very different person back then.
Stealing drugs. Not such a different person.
Ex-husband. Do not like this guy at all.
Oh, that's right. Jack didn't know about the separate island thing. But Sawyer does. So you'd think he'd tell Kate.
I feel like I want Ben to wake up and say "I know I'm supposed to be unconscious during this part, but can you believe these mooks?"
question of Jack's oath as a doctor.
Now Kate knows.
Oh, Sawyer did tell her, but Kate didn't believe him. Heh.
Alex to the rescue!
Damn, he did wake up!

Part II
So she's experimenting on her sister.
Women in science issues.
Alex has got a boat.
So Karl really was being kept prisoner. Or was he?
"They've got history." You don't say.
So The Others really only wanted Jack in the first place?

Part III
Is this the DHARMA Institute.
Privately funded means freedom.
Male pregnancy. So how long did he carry the fetus?
Juliet's last name is Burke.
I like the reflection of the slides off the characters.
Whatever you think I am, I'm not. I'm not a leader, I'm a mess. Or is she?
Alex's dad?
Wookie Prisoner gag. Hee!!!!
Rm 23
Techno? Music videos?
Everything changes.
Torture by sensory overload?
We are the causes of our own suffering. Buddhism.
God loves you as He loved Jacob.
Think about your life.

Part IV
The Others are all calling Jack, Shepherd. Or Juliet is.
She's pregnant. Is she even healthy enough? Wouldn't anti-cancer treatment target an embryo (which is also rapidly dividing cells).
Juliet's sister is Rachael.
He really did get hit by a bus.
Showing Tom the tumor. Heh.
Ever since the sky turned purple... Dammit! I want to know more.
So Sawyer was right about Juliet.

Coda
Tom is now Jack's surgery assistant, like Hurley before with the Marshall and ?? with Boone?
So Ben is Alex's father, or Alex thinks Ben is her father. Wasn't Rousseau already pregnant when her ship crashed? Or the father was one of her crew? Why would The Others make Alex think that Ben was her father.
The story from the pilot.
Jack plans to stay with The Others. Why exactly?
Nice music here.
Juliet really cared for her Ex? Or she just feels guilty for wanting him to die?
The surgery was successful.
"Until they figure out what to do with you." Eh?
"They" not "We."
"After everything I have been put through, you owe me an answer." Damn straight.
Ethan Rom again. As a recruiter?
So did DHARMA make it happen?
For six months.
Juliet's been 3 years, 2 months, 28 days.
Ben is going to let Juliet go home. How can he prevent her from going home?

This was not the best episode, but it didn't suck either. It was kind of just there. Which in the long run is not so bad, especially if it becomes more significant in retrospect, and. As a mid-season premiere, would have been better to have a stronger ep, since that's the way things work. I personally see the DVD sets as the true form of TV shows, not the TV airings.
Our plane crash survivors have always been what interests me most, with the isolation and confinement aspects of landing on a deserted island. The Others and assorted wackiness have been of peripheral interest to me. Just who exactly they are has been a burning question since the pilot and this episode does explore that question quite a bit. Though, I'm personally still pretty confused about what's going on.
Juliet's flashbacks weren't exactly what I was expecting, but I am more interested in her as a female scientist, ethics issues etc. And what exactly was she so upset about in the season premiere? Because we saw her crying or close to tears a handful of time in this ep.
And I *really* want a Henry flashback episode, dammit.

Finally watched this episode. Aside from some clever dialogue, meh.
I think the thrall has gone out of our relationship. I'm going to keep taping a little longer, but it may take a few days to get around to watching, and if there was a power failure and I missed one, I wouldn't cry.
I don't think Juliette made her ex get hit by the bus. If anyone caused it, and I don't see how they could, it was Ethan or the recruiter. Maybe Ethan did kill her ex - I always thought Ethan was kind of shifty-looking, and I can believe he could manipulate people and things.
The problem is, we've seen people make things appear on the island and that was almost okay because weird things happen on the island anyway. If Ethan, or Juliette for that matter, made a bus come out of nowhere and run someone down in the real world, that immensely complicates things. That means that the logic of their world does not resemble our earth logic, and magic works, and once you allow that, there are no rules.
Also, now that I think of it, I'm not sure that taking Good Boyfriend Karl back to the other island is such a good idea. They know nothing about what brainwashing process he was undergoing, or how it's going to affect him - he could be a mole for The Others and not even know it.

There was that horse (Pooka) that rescued Kate from the Marshall.

There was that horse (Pooka) that rescued Kate from the Marshall. Good point. I'd forgotten that. Although that could've been a real horse, and the one on the island came from Kate's memories. Too many questions. No real answers. I'm giving it until the end of the season.
