Because we haven't seen or started talking about the episode yet, I'm going to share an interesting theory someone posited to Doc Jensen of EW.com:
Remember what Ms. Hawking told Desmond, in "Flashes Before Your Eyes," about why she hadn't save the man killed by the scaffolding? Had I warned him about the scaffolding, tomorrow he'd be hit by a taxi. If I warned him about the taxi, he'd fall in the shower and break his neck. The universe, unfortunately, has a way of course correcting. She's not only saying that in the end the outcome (the man's death) will still come to pass, but also implying that any action she takes will have additional repercussions: suddenly a taxi driver has a death on their conscience, whereas in the first timeline the driver didn't. And we already know Desmond's done things differently in this timeline than before: buying the ring and pitching it in the river, as opposed to never buying it at all, and seemingly not enlisting in the Scottish army when we know he'd received a dishonorable discharge.
So, what if the reason we suddenly have Nikki and Paulo mingling with the group but have yet to see Rose and Bernard is because something Desmond did resulted in Nikki and Paulo being on the plane instead of Rose and Bernard?
From there, I had this additional thought just a little while ago: given the similarities in their look and personal dynamic, what if Nikki and Paolo didn't replace Rose and Bernard, but Shannon and Boone?
Things to ponder, at any rate.

Ooo...I like that!
INVISOTEXTAren't the actors who played Shannon and Booth supposed to be in an episode later in the season? Is it the Nikki and Paulo one, maybe?INVISOTEXT
I think that might be neat, if we see that Shannon and Booth, in this timeline, do not board the plane, and are safely somewhere...
Interesting...

Tallahassee?
Great. The guy's freaking out and you cut off his disabillity payments. Fixes EVERYTHING. And he's still walk-able.
Back to the Village of the Darned.
Kate is gonna be jealous of Juliet, of course.
Rolling Benry.
Handshaking!
heh. Nice understatement, John. "This is going to be more complicated than we thought"

John getting SSDI for mental health issues? If this is after daddy did a number on him, I'm not surprised he was depressed. Suspended. Yeah, if you don't comply with treatment, they'll do that. Now we're back to spying on Jack. Heee! I love how shocked they all look at him being all cosy with Juliette and Benry. ;D Rousseau sneaks off and John make the lovely statement "this is gonna be more complicated than we thought". Ya think?

Tallahassee? Great. The guy's freaking out and you cut off his disabillity payments. Fixes EVERYTHING. And he's still walk-able. Well, an argument can be made that sometimes stopping benefits is the trigger needed to make a person get back into treatment that they need. Of course, another argument can be made that it is a potential trigger to send a person over the edge . . . Sooooo jealous. But I think the little "Juliette hand on the arm" moment had something else going on there too. ;D

Huh. Locke is talking sense.
So who is this kid? And how does he know about the kidney?
Well, Daddy is a con artist, after all.
I'd be worried that this is some sort of scam, too.
So is Locke...
And back to the Village..
Oooh! Are they gonna canoodle? Or just stand there and flirt?
Durn. Just the flirting.
"better if you're the first one he sees" my tuchus. he's gonna be PISSED. All "I gave up my freedom for you, and you WALK BACK IN?"
Piano music.. nice cottage. Wonder who he inherited it from. Ethan?
Jack plays PIANO?! (hears the sound of a thousand hearts, not just Kate's, swooning)
And she didn't check for CAMERA surveilance? What kind of thief IS she?
Locke as wild card. Which makes sense, as he's pretty gorram unpredictable.
Especially as he's chosen to go in and tackle the Benry in his den.
Oooh! Submarine! Locke wants to leave, now? Has he lost his faith in the island? Or is he being altruistic?

Kate soooo doesn't like Sayid's "he may not want to be rescued" comment. And Locke continues to be Mr. Sensible, with his "It's Jack." He has a reason for acting as he does, and we just need to ask him what he wants. If he wants rescuing, the we get him out. Woo! Kick ass John Locke is back. Kid with mom in trouble. Hmmmm. Sounds like John's dad is being naughty again. Well, unless the kid is conning him, possibly on behalf of daddy dearest. And John must be thinking of these type of possibilities, 'cuz he tries to stay out of the whole thing. Interesting. It's "better" if Kate's the first one he sees. Makes sense, actually. And the "shall we rescue from football and piano lessons" adventure begins! Of course they were watching. And of course they got Sayid and Kate. Because Rousseau and Locke have their own agendas. Well, and also because Rousseau knows these people can't be trusted farther than you can throw them, so she took off to do her thing the way she wants. Oooooh, Benry senses a disturbance in the force. It's Locke! Oh, perfect line delivery! "I'm not looking for Jack", with that grin. ;D Yup. He's after the sub.

Huh. Alex lives with Ben? Well, sorta makes sense. "The man from Tallahassee" "We don't have a code for 'there's a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter's head' though we obviously should" HA!!! Daddykins!!!! Subtle.... Oh GREAT, Locke. Sell the kid out. Now the son's gonna die. Locke, he didn't get to be this good a con man by bending to the wishes of other people like this. Shame doesn't enter into it, like it would for you, John. It's a chess game. John's gonna get hit by a car. Maybe he'll get it while trying to save the son. "dignity" button. Don't get TOO close to him. He hasn't seen "24" recently. Huh. Benry nailed it right on the head, there. with the "blow it up" bit. A company owned by a guy named Hugo.... "How you wound up there" "I felt my back break" Owieowieowie Nice on getting the cuffs/shackles in front. "Be careful in here" pointing to his head. What, beware of mind games? Nothing she could do would be a quarter of what the Others do to each other daily. Try and explain, Jack. See. Said he would be pissed. "I didn't think you meant it" What, you didn't think that he MEANT his grand self-sacrificing gesture? what kind of messiah figure would he be, then? Wow, the emotions show through: they both look like hell. Made a deal to go home. Whoa. Putting the burden of it on her. "When you asked me to save Sawyer's life" True, it's their best chance for rescue, but it's gotta rankle on him to leave, even if it's for help. Fortunately John the Gremlin will gum up the works. Hey! They got rolly-spinny-soccer-ball!

You are so very very right my friend. Serious tactical mistake. Good point - is he convinced that leaving won't re-paralyse him? Or does he have other plans for the sub?

Still has his red Beetle.. The son's dead. Figured. *Sigh* Actions have consequences, John. Benry is such a CREEPY little weasel. "That's what 'immediate' means, Ben" Heh. wondering why he isn't fixing miraculously. Benry still has his number. Anger-management courses have been good to John. And no-one comes up to visit Sayid? poor woobie. "Because you look like your mother" kerBOOOOOOM!!!!!!"Two giant hamsters..." He was BORN here? "Need to know they can leave if they want to" yep, it's not prison if the door isn't locked. Tempting John with the Wonders of the Earth.. He's got a calvin-and-hobbes replicator!! "Cheating"? No, no problem with his faith in the island, at all. "Because you're in the wheelchair, and I'm not" John asserting his rightful place as the Island's shaman, its voice. But I think that John is the pharisee, here. Follow the right rules in the right ritualistic order, and don't vary from it.
