So it looks like we have more people pretending to be what they're not this episode, eh? And . . . . what did you do, Celeste? Hmmmmm? Perhaps some of our Celeste speculations might be on target, eh? Lola Posting from HOME! ;D YAY on your fixed computer, Lola! Sadly, I was unable to join in last night. I'm really liking the double mystery format and how both come together at the end of the episode. Adds another nice layer. Pretty episode. Everyone dressed up in their finery for Christmas, except for the kids, who only come to the party to eat. The picture of Weevil holding the two trays that Veronica gave him and being unable to sample any of the goodies made me sad for him. What do you think? Did Weevil split the take with the butler's son? Or am I just blinded by a pretty face? ;D Also, don't you think that Weevil should've also had to strip when the money came up missing after he won the pot? (How awesome was it that he won with a pair of 2's?!) Everyone there must have just assumed that Weevil didn't take the money, otherwise don't you think they would've made him strip, too? I like that this shows that they respect him, subconsciously, maybe. But he should've had to strip. You know, unless that's the point they were trying to make. Loved the "fake" snow machines shot at the end. Adds to the whole "not everything is as it seems" feel of the show. Very nice episode. I wish more people would watch it.

I think Celeste had the security guy take those photos of Veronica, to chase V's mom out of town....even more hint that Veronica is Duncan's sister... And raise your hand if you're sorry Logan's dad got stabbed/possibly killed..... *looks around* waiting....waiting.... nope, me either. I thought this was one of the best episodes so far. I enjoyed the locked room type of detective work, and 'the worst strip poker game ever'...LOL - Logan and Duncan...awwww.... Lots of good stuff, despite the very dark ending and Veronica's well-earned cynicism. (is that spelled right?) I guess I did feel kind of sorry for Logan's dad when he got stabbed. More sorry for Logan that his dad, tho, because I think this is going to shake his world The Logan and Duncan moments were very nice.

I'm also thinking though, that the bit with daddy Kane yelling at Celeste could be taken a couple different ways. That she is the one who set the detective on Veronican and sent the pics to her mom, yes. But also, could he have been yelling because it was her that started the story that Veronica is his daughter, so when V said the thing about him being her dad, he immediately thought of Celeste. And the story could then also still be a lie. I was a little sad for Mr. Echols. Well, the kind of basic "no human should get stabbed except in self defence" kind of sorry. But that's about it. 'Cuz everytime we get another bit of info about him it ain't good, is it? The two cases - Veronica's and her dad's - I really liked both of them. They each had me trying to figure it out. For a while, I was thinking that Mrs. Echols was the one, 'cuz she was mad about him sleeping around. It made me totally forget about my first thought of "what about the girl he had fired". Of course it was a nice touch that he'd slept with her too. Lola Logan and Duncan were just cute as the dickens. And the strip poker was . . . niiiiice. ;D For some reason, I never thought it was Mrs. Echols. She seems so closed off emotionally, and is probably used to her husband's philandering. (sp?)

I also thought it was a good episode. Have some review ideas. Just need to get some time/privacy to write. Going to bed and hope to get up early to write. Lots of thoughts. Strip poker--high school kids in boxers--not hot, just cute (remember, I've got a kid that age). But the actor guy with the sweating abs--that was nice. Good luck with the writing, Sue. Yes, the kids in boxers were just cute. Good thing they didn't have Weevil strip. I have a couple of young guys, too. The sweating actor didn't do anything for me. His abs were nice, tho.

Uh - this episode was called "Silence of the Lamb." The next ep is supposed to be called "An Echolls Family Christmas." This seemed more like it should have been called "An Echolls Family Christmas," no? Because the "Silence of the Lamb" title . . . I thought for sure it would include at least a peek at Sheriff Lamb, no? And. . . how does that title fit this ep? I liked the episode. I liked the Jake/Veronica confrontation, and he was obviously lying to Veronica - he had an idea, anyhow, what Clarence was doing spying on Veronica, thought Celeste may have had to do with it . . . he knows something. I liked the "Agatha Christie," gather the suspects together thing. I liked the stabbing, and the way they cut from the carolers to the wounded Aaron to Logan, etc. Have had no time to think about it overall, and must get to bed. Later, S'cubes. Ooo, Sheriff Lamb! Yes, he is someone we should be watching closely.

Veronica said something about Jake being her dad? Are you sure? I don't remember her saying a word about it. I've got it on tape, but am too lazy and tired right now. Will check. Mrs Echolls - that actresses' fakey lips are so horrible I could hardly stand to look at her. Hard to get past. OK. Really bed now!! She used to be so beautiful - I just love her hair. Her lips are very distracting, tho, and not in a good way. What WAS she thinking? I'd sue the plastic surgeon.

I think I was going with the same assumption that the guys at the game generally made, that being there was no reason for Weevil to steal the money since he was the winnner. Then again, as one of them pointed out, he was losing earlier, so he would have had just as much motive as the others then and wouldn't have necessarily known he was gonna win. Or figured that it looked better to have it stolen when he was the winner because it was less suspicious. But once we found out who did it I am more sure that Weevil wasn't in on it, nor any of the other guys. The real circumstances of the guy were such a surprise to everyone that I can't see him being close enough to anyone to have had a partner. Now, it did cross my mind that Weevil might have cheated to win the game, because he was being so scornful of their playing ability and so sure he was gonna win, even though his hand was really not good at all. I loved how Veronica unmasked Duncan's little con - pretending to be drunk to lull the others. Seeing Weevil with the double plates cracked me up. I was thinking if it was me, I'd be heading right back to the poker room or else finding a place to sit so I could dig in. And if Veronica kept me waiting too long, I'd eat hers too! ;D I agree that the fake snow machines at the end, right as Veronica was doing her cynical voice-over, was the perfect image for the theme of things being not what they seem, for the "fake-ness" of this family in particular, but also so many of the Neptune folks. So "Hollywood", as it were - was the perfect finish to the earlier shots of the "snow" coming down on the decorative carolers singing away as daddy is being stabbed inside by one of the women he was cheating with. But it gives her (unfortunately for her) the perfect look for the role she is playing here, doesn't it? Overly done, fake looking, very "Hollywood". Lola

I really appreciated the snarky, slightly slashy interplay me got with Logan and Weevil, and then Logan and Duncan. ;D I know, that's just my evil little mind - but I have to take my giggles where I can get them. She looks like she could suck the life out of your with them. Which makes me wonder if they overemphasized her lips with makeup, because she doesn't look quite that bad as the host on her soap-opera show.

Lola Mmmm, I meant "split the take", as in being generous - because 'it's Christmas' and maybe a little 'us poor folk should stick together'. I forgot about V taking a big swig of whiskey. The look on everyone's faces were all so different and priceless.

I rewatched.
Regarding the conversation and Jake what Veronica said was, "Why did she tell me or my father....."
(But it did sound a bit like "why did she tell me you were my father...")
Definitely did not call jake her father, but have to wonder what Keith was thinking when he saw them thru the window.
Lots more thoughts, but might use some in my review.

Definitely did not call jake her father, but have to wonder what Keith was thinking when he saw them thru the window. Lots more thoughts, but might use some in my review. Sue Ok. That makes sense. It seemed that Jake immediately believed that his wife must have hired Clarence to photograph Veronica, though why he thought this, I don't know. The pics were used to scare Lianne, right? All we really know from this scene is that someone tried to scare Lianne in regard to Veronica's safety. And Jake thinks it might have been Celeste. He thinks this because . . . speculating, speculating . . . he knows that Celeste wanted Duncan and Veronica to break up? So she was trying to threaten Lianne into forcing Veronica to break up with Duncan?? But no - that makes no sense. Veronica and Duncan DID break up, due to something that was told to Duncan, and later to Lilly (we aren't 100% sure what was said, or who said it.) So why would Celeste need to scare Lianne in regard to Veronica's safety? The break-up was otherwise accomplished. And Lianne looked perturbed by Veronica dating Duncan anyhow . . . so why would she need that kind of over-the-top persuasion technique? ACCCKKK!! I must think harder here - we are really missing something major pieces on this puzzle. Nothing fits together very neatly at this point. --------------- Good point about Lynn Echoll's fakey lips really fitting the part. And the actress . . . I forget her name, but yes, she was very naturally beautiful and I have no idea why she messed with her face. It looks bad. It does fit the role, and she is doing a nice job in the role, as is Harry H. I loved the scene between Aaron and Keith, when he asks, "circle the name of the one you slept with" and Aaron circles one. Then another. Then another.
