I think she's resisting temptation. Which is silly, she should just delete it. And maybe Keith didn't look beyond "three years in Lompoc" and felt no need to dig deeper. Can you become a cop with a prison record? Or was that fake? I think that was a fake: part of the "Carl" persona.

I think Lamb gave a different name for the guy as well. I took it as he was a Chicago cop and he had an undercover alias with associated criminal record. Keith probably used his PI resources and found the warrant on the fake identity. Lamb, being a cop, was able to get access to government databases that revealed his true identity as a cop. BTW, isn't Lompoc a California prison? yuppers!

I think that was a fake: part of the "Carl" persona. I'm thinking Witness Protection of some sort, perhaps? I thought that at first, but through a bizarre set of circumstances, my dad was trying to find some bona fides on a guy whose house he was appraising... and dad has resources. He didn't exist prior to three years before. But this is TV land: it's quite possible they make the locating thing easier, so "insufficient data".

I've posted my thoughts on this episode in my LJ. Normally, I'd just ramble some more here or repost but I got kind long-winded and used some formatting. Since I don't think it'll fit into one post here, I figured a link was probably better this time around. That way only the few as obsessed as I am are subjected to it. www.livejournal.com/users/siklilgrl/178536.html

She has visiting hours? Is she out of a coma? "FOUND it in his gym bag.." Collin Nevin Man, if you need to know that much about someone, you really shouldn't be thinking about it. Yet. That's sorta pathologicial. Well, sorta pathological really sums up the client well, I think. ;D Yup. We saw his little brother last season in the ep where Keith helped Alicia get rid of the icky tenant. Or is he evil . . . . ? Jury's still out, but I can't believe he's Mr. Wonderful or Alicia wouldn't be avoiding him like she is.

I swear, that telephoto is so inconspicuous. She's a little intense. They are SO sweet together.. UNTIL SHE just CASUALLY ASKS to BORROW a GUN!!! Yeek! Yeah, that kinda stands up and screams . . . WTF is going here. Loved how they still keep trying to fool the kids, the kids aren't fooled at all, and I'm not all that sure that Keith and Alicia think they are fooling them, it's just . . . candles and pretense. Yup. This is where I really perked up. I mean, now that we know he is (or is saying he is) Wallace's dad, maybe he just means she "took" his son, but . . . I dunno. Yeah. Not like he or V knew it was gonna go over a cliff. But parents are often not logical when it comes to their kids being harmed. Perfect way of putting it.

Two middle of the night thoughts: We never did see what decision Veronica made about looking at Meg's files, right? If Lamb could find out that the guy was a cop, why did Keith only find out about his record? Undercover? Guy planted fake prison record knowing Keith would look? But Lamb had no problem identifying him as a Chicago cop. I'm confused. I think it shows that he is an undercover cop and has a false criminal background, which Keith found first and took at face value because he was expecting it from what Alica said. Also, might be showing us that Keith's contacts might be slipping a little since he's not sherrif anymore.

So very true about Wallace as the voice of reason and V. not being very good at spotting or owning up to her own jealousy. Not when it comes to Wallace, not when it comes to Logan, and barely when it comes to Duncan. I wonder if she's only able to see it a bit with Duncan because he is the actual boyfriend just now and so she thinks she "should" be a bit jealous.

Wow. Are you telling me no one was disappointed in this episode? I was sure I'd get on this board and on LJ and find tons of negativity. Go figure...
I'm just going to cut-paste my initial reactions that I posted on my LJ, for the sake of rewriting basically everything over again.
I wrote this right after watching last night, so it's a tad bit harsh. But I really did think this episode was one of the weaker, if not the weakest VM episode we've seen to date. Yes, those are fightin' words! And yes, I still have to rewatch before I can clearly state my opinion. But under first watch, in my eyes, this episode just did not stand up to the VM standards...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have one thing to say...
WHAT THE FUCK WAS LOGAN DOING IN FUCKING BLUE!!!
Yes, that was the most important thing I had to say about this episode. Yes, that was my WTF moment this week. Seriously, JD alone saved the episode from plummeting to its death. The script was just really bland, and, well, all over the place. There were way too many random little things going on. Scenes that didn't fit in the episode. I didn't see hardly any organization to it other than the heavy-handed jealousy theme. Marti Noxon, step away from the VM writers. Add in a newbie director who wasted WAY too much time on stupid things, letting the episode drag to immense proportions, and you have Shannon actually thinking that the sleep she lost to watch this wasn't worth it. That's serious. The whole time, I just felt like the episode was dragging. Immensely dragging. Sluggish even. Even out of the actors. Where was the energy this week? I love Alicia, but that storyline was so damn predictable. I was almost wishing for a Witness Protection Program storyline and I said last week that would be too predictable. And I loved the portrayal of the fractured, all not as perfect as it seems Dun/VM relationship, but ultimately, snoozeworthy. Nothing makes me happier than to see VM 2.0 making a comeback which was ultimately the purpose of this episode, but did we really need to go through all of that to get there? Case of the week? So very very sluggish. Really shouldn't have taken up so much time.
The only scene worthy of a rewind was that little Logan scene. Without even trying, it was the best scene of the episode. All of a sudden , I was like, 'Look. Energy!' Line of the night, hands down, goes to Logan's "My day is complete! Veronica Mars has accused me of E-vil." Simple line, but priceless delivery. Second prize would have to go to Rico and his performance. He tried to do as much as he could with his lines…
I guess the last five episodes have been so crazy and insane that I'm just spoiled. But I'm sure hoping this was just a little slump. Because I don't want to see this quality become the norm. Nope, not at all.
I do need to rewatch, but I don't even have the energy to right now. I'm quite abit upset about how mundane this one was. I hope it can get better on rewatch, but I'm kind of worried to find out.
Oh, well. Now I guess I can get some work done this week, since RT refrained from exploding it. I suppose that's a good thing for my GPA.
What did I like? - MARS INVESTIGATIONS!! Pretty windows...although storing Keith's sheriff posters in there is just plain blasphemy! - Wallace all worried about Veronica inside Scottish guy's house? Aww. - Darryl's back! Ain't he cute? - The little throwaway line from 202, with the little detail of Logan's "Life Short" party ends up being important. I love when little things become important later on. - Mac back! And her new hairstyle? How adorable was that? Even if she was only on screen for like two seconds in one of the most random scenes of the night… - Lamb vs. Keith! Let the games begin! - Getting some backstory to understand Duncan's weird happiness. It was all a front. Kind of a theme in this show, eh? - Huge number of Season One references again! Inga, Vinny Van Lowe, Kane scholoarship, that Beaver-like clock pan-down, Lamb collecting the kegs. See, I told ya! Those writers are having a huge contest: Who can fit the most Season One references into one script! - I think it's sufficient to say that Veronica 2.0 is making a comeback! This week she was busy going behind Keith's back, annoyed at Duncan for his evasiveness, pessimistic on love, and finally, she's coming back to work! Woohoo!

Um, holy crap? So...Dad's not dead? Whahuh? Side note: Alicia's got a thing for the cops, it seems. First: Mac! What the hell is Meg doing that she has to hide from her parents? Dim sum and then some? Yikes! Logan's moustache twidling line is just 9 kinds of delightful. ' Oh yes, yes, yes. Not enough Logan for me though he wouldn't have logically fit in anywhere in this episode so I'm fine with the little bit they included. Sodapop on TWOP posted a very nice analysis of the way Logan uses his hands and theatrical gestures whenever he is being snarky and yet when he is serious as in I'm in love with you and his confession about the drugs he gets very still. I think he is trying to keep his feelings and hurt away from Veronica by reverting to his snarky words and theatrical gestures. Really loved them. But he did look tired and worn and I've seen all kinds of discussion on why his shirt had pit stains. And why he was wearing Duncan clothing. To my mind it had to be deliberate so why was Logan sweating? Why so worn and tired looking? Also noted on TWOP was that the day of Logan's Life's Short party was the same day as Aaron Echoll's birthday. Interesting!!!!!!!! Anyway - the whole point of this was I agree Erin - the mustache twirl - marvelous!!!!!!!!!!

That's sorta pathologicial. She really DOES work at a place called "Java the hutt"?Dang. Time and temperature? "Only way I'd earn $2,000 in a week was if they installed a pole" And the Happy Place just keeps getting happier... NICE evasion. "Never get tired of hearing that" "Lame excuses" being what? Alicia!!! Wallace!! Short person I've NEVER seen before!! Wallace has a brother? Evil guy from Chicago! I know the pole line and did you catch Weevil's earring line? As in must have got caught in some girl's shag carpet? I was like - whoa, they let that line through? Lots of Hooker, sex for money references last night. Wallace's little bro was on in one episode last season Matthew and now we have a name - Charles.

I swear, that telephoto is so inconspicuous. She's a little intense. They are SO sweet together.. UNTIL SHE just CASUALLY ASKS to BORROW a GUN!!! Yeek! Twenty years is a loooong time crazy... Where the hell did the seven-year-old come into things? "Keith Mars for Sherriff!" "Dad spend the night at your house last night?" "yep." "he do the morning donut fake-out run?" "Want one?" hee!!! "smacking the ass of some Dungeons and Dragons geek".. man this show just keeps pushing my buttons.... "Light's much better where you're standing.." What in heck was he doing in Lompoc if he was living in Chicago? "Your old lady took something of mine. I'm not leaving till I get it back" WHAT? Duncan is here to visit Meg too.. hmmm.. "If you really cared about Meg you wouldn't have let her be on that bus" WTF?! And what was the other daughter gonna say? "Meg was important to me?" Oh, Colin's got a honey on the side... Well, he could still be playing tennis.. and you should NOT have given her the address..... But on this show, nothing is as it may seem...skim milk masquerades as cream. Huh.. female condoms advertised on television. Cool. I found the whole Meg/Duncan/Veronica scenes very interesting. I've by now read spec out the whazoo that people are thinking Meg maybe got pregnant, had an abortion or miscarriage or in some way had sex with Duncan and that was on the computer. Interesting how the sister - Lizzie had a very Megish look going at the hospital (remember she is the wild one). And why oh why show up at Duncan's motel room at 2:00 a.m. Loved, Loved, Loved -Veronica's hide in the hotel room like a hooker line. Duncan refusing to answer a question that was not confrontational equals Duncan back to avoidance land.

Which plays back to her not looking at the results of the Paternity test in Season 1. Though this decision has much less emotional impact than that one it is still consistent with Veronica's character.
