OK, I just slogged through all 11 pages or so of posts since I left work on Friday. My, you are a verbose group!
Back about a million posts ago, I think Watergal (could have been someone else) had a post entitled sarcasm. In it, she was talking to Lee - was it me? Or Lee P. Whoever posted it was talking about how sarcastic she had been in her posts. If the post was to me (hell, even if it wasn't, I'm still going to respond): I'm glad someone else is kinda worried about how the sarcasm comes across. I'm a very sarcastic person (as if you couldn't tell by my posts) and my RL friends sometimes can't tell when I'm joking so I get a little worried that my sarcasm doesn't come across on my posts. But I promise I won't do that cool little K-Mart shopping announcement that I did on about page 15 in one of my posts. I know it was cool and all but I won't do that again.
Whoever had the question about the airdates of the new Angel episodes: I believe they will be all new until the season (or series, pray God no) finale on May 7th. I could be completely wrong and if I am, I know one of the S'cubies will call me on it!
I loved all your discussions over the weekend - you are a very entertaining bunch late at night!
Diane - I hadn't been over to slayage.tv for awhile, so I checked it out, and noticed they are now on "Section 8" and had some new essays. Did you read that essay about Buffy on the BBC? It discusses the way the show is cut to edit out "graphic" sex or violence, and it sure made me appreciate FX. Ending "Smashed" at the point where Spike hoists Buffy up (before the zipper sounds)? What? It just sounded positiviely draconian.
First off, let me assure you that I am in no imminent danger. It is very overcast outside. *G* (And wet..*grumble, grumble*)
Secondly, I thought I'd check the board before hitting the ol' coffin yet again (had an appointment to keep but need mooooore sleep). Anyway, as I was glancing thru the posts and looking at the website, I realized that no one is sending me fanfic links to post in the non-scubies section.
Now, while I am not going to go to the effort to collect them myself as they are posted (esp. since I don't read as much fanfic as some of you affecionados), if links are emailed to me, they would get included on the site under the name of the S'cubie that recommends them. True, I might let them backlog a bit, letting our own S'cubie fanfic and essays take precedence in my time devotions, but htey would make it up on the page eventually.
*shrugs* Anyway, I didn't want you folks holding back, fearful of overworking me. It's fine. That's what the site is for. Just don't complain about my pace either *Wink*
This has been a public service bulletin from your favorite Technopagan.
The S'cubies made me laugh, the S'cubies made me laugh, la la la la...the S'cubies made me laugh!
And you all did! You had me in hysterics this morning when I got to work!
I wish I could personalize "Lee's Laugh Song" for everyone but that would take a day and a half (and, unfortunately, I must attend to my work). Just know that this is going to each and everyone of you who posted in the last 11 pages of Part 15.
The S'cubies made me laugh, the S'cubies made me laugh, la la la la...the S'cubies made me laugh!
I get it....you can tell when I'm being sarcastic. Well, I won't do anymore K-Mart Blue Light Special announcements - that is, not unless you really want me to.
The reason I'm so paranoid about this is because I've had experiences in the past where I've been labeled a "bitch" (me? you exclaim! Surely you jest!) by people who thought I was being serious when, in fact, I was being sarcastic. I just don't want y'all to think I'm a bitch - I mean, you can think that but I don't want to be because you misconstrued my dry sense of humor. Think me a bitch because I was mean to you or because I mouth off about things I know nothing about (which I pray I haven't done either one). ;-)
So, I'm done with worrying about whether you think I'm being sarcastic or not! I'll let you puzzle it out.
Though I haven't be able to confirm this, I believe we have new Angel episodes until the end of the season from this point out. Back when these new episodes started (early March with the first Faith episode), I got an ANGEL e-newsletter from the WB and it said that we'd have new episodes until the end.
How is it I have a Profile on the S'cubie site for you, but no email addy on the Secret S'cubie Email page? Are you paranoid or just anti-social? (Rings a bell and turns on the flashing lights. That was SARCASM folks...S-A-R-C-A-S-M. *big you-know-what eatin' grin at Lee H.*)
Seriously, if you wnat to be included and get the entire fan package(consisting of unlimited access to the website, plenty of abuse by the rest of the S'cubies, the occasional errant personal request, and a nagging fear of SPAM) then please drop me an email at scubiefan@yahoo.com.
s Vlad made me laugh, Vlad made me laugh, la la la la ... Vlad made me laugh!
Oh, I know you're in bed now but this week's Buffy is NOT new - it's a repeat of "Never Leave Me." Next week's episode is new.
Hello?!?!? (taps microphone, looks around wildly) Is this thing on?!?! Did you not read my post about the new episodes? Well, I'll post this one more time. You got that, Vlad? ONE more time:
April 8 - repeat ("Never Leave Me")
April 15 - new
April 22 - repeat (probably "Bring on the Night" but not positive)
April 29 - new
May 6 - new
May 13 - new
May 20 - series finale (Lee will be sitting home crying, watching the last show EVER of BtVS)
These are the people that are sponsoring the Nashville conference next May.
They are also soliciting essays for a variety of things, this one caught my eye. Any takers?
//Special Issue Call for Papers
In a future number of Slayage we would like to publish essays on each of the six seasons of BtVS. If you would like to write one of these essays--each a comprehensive discussion of a season considered as a whole--please let us know at buffystudies@hotmail.com . Essays submitted will be reviewed by the board, which will select the best for publication in Slayage.(go here to see how to submit ). If you already wrote to volunteer to write one of these essays, please write us again to announce you intensions. (We apologize if we did not respond to your original e-mail.)//
Nan, I'll try to go through my personal list of favorite fanfic, although I would guess that you've read most of it. It doesn't seem like much new (that is rave-worthy) is being written. Rob, Rusty, Josh, Spring--I'm saving you guys for later. (Sounds bizarre, but, like Nan, if I can I like to read from start to finish all at once.)
Vlad, I already sent my favorite fanfics, but I'll see if there are any more
Nan, I'm guessing you saw Annie S-J has finally updated "Waking the Dead" on allaboutspike. (Last update was Nov, so I'd almost given up on it.)
That story has one of my favorite quotes in fanfic (outside of Necessary Evils and Journeys, which I can't quote snippets of because it would turn into paragraphs and pages):
//No passion there, he'd tried to extinguish that in the aftermath of the dreaded bathroom. When he kissed her, she could taste desolation and despair. Kissing Spike was like drinking regret straight from the bottle, and she felt her chest hitch with unspent tears.//
Especially the "kissing Spike was like drinking regret straight from the bottle". I have no idea what that means, but it sticks in my mind.
