Sue - my paltry fanfic offering on the S'cubie site isn't part of an incomplete series. It's a stand alone snippet, as, I think I can predict with some certainity, will be any fic that I might do in the future. So, if you are interested, read it - no point in waiting for it to be finished. It's already finished.
My interests just don't lie in creating a long, independent story . . . I'm not sure I have the imagination for it, ala Joshua, Rusty & Rob. And I know I don't have the motivation. My one and only offering is a snippet that fills in what we've seen on screen. For some reason that is what attracts me the most - trying to get a bead on what must have happened in between the times we see on screen, that fits in with what we see.

My only problem with Slayage is that immediately after I've been there I get tons of spam. It's really annoying. I really like the site but I haven't visited it in a long time because of that.

Thanks for posting my latest chapter Vlad. I'm trying to write faster now which means more awkward sentences and grammar don'ts, but it's going to take several chapters to get to the end. And I just misplaced the disk that has half my next chapter on it. Whimper.

I read the review of the movie "Chance" by Alexandra K. in part 15. She indicated that eventually the movie may be available and that her son would like to purchase a copy. I was wondering how someone would know when the movie "Chance" was available to purchase. Just keep reading the boards?

Ok, Vlad... it's in your inbox (hopefully!). I am not sure why you had it but, for those looking, it's in my profile as well.

I know you are all thrilled to be reading yet another of my posts that is asking a geeky question about the essays.
Let's see: I've already asked about footnotes and bibliographies. Now I'm asking about length: is there a page limit? I know the two excellent essays we have now aren't that long so I didn't know if that was supposed to be the general length. I'm working on my topic of the series' scariest Big Bad and suffice to say, it's not going to be short. It's not going to be extremely lengthy but it will have some length. If there is a page limit, I can whittle it down.
And yes, I am a big academic dork (feel free to laugh and point. Just know that I am laughing and pointing right back at you). I was always the kid in class who would argue with the teacher about how long our papers needed to be. I always wanted to write longer papers. For my senior paper in college, it was supposed to between 50-75 pages - I wrote 120. (And on a boring topic too. Imagine what it could have been if I found the topic even remotely interesting!) I like to know what the limits are (so I'll know when I'm breaking them) when I'm working.
Sorry for the ramble - OK, bottom line: are there page limits on the essays?
Thanks!
-L

Lee, I wouldn't mind beeing labled a bitch because:
* Buffy's been CALLED one * Cordelia makes a career out of BEING one. * Willow's capable of turning anybody INTO one. * Bitch stands for Being In Total Control of HERSELF.
Feel better?

Vlad said, "I don't read as much fanfic as some of you affecionados."
I think that's a wonderful word for us - affecionados. The word describes the S'cubies as a group perfectly with that particular spelling. We need to start a web page with our original words and their definitions:
affecionados - a group of people with similar interests and much affection between them, e.g., the S'cubies
ebulgence - Spring, you can define that one
ebulgeometrics - Spring - ditto
Nosferoanatomy - study of the anatomy of vampires
Nosfero... all the other words starting with that prefix
Is Spikeaholic in general use?
====================
What other words have we created?

Diane said, "Spring, an amazing analysis, of course! Even without any Spikeage at all."
Spikeage is a good word. Diane - can you make a definition?
And duh! I forgot the word S'cubie. A member of the Soulful Spike Society.

Diane,
Because of your post, I am now proud to say I am a bitch (Being In Total Control of Herself - I like it!).
Normally I don't care what people think of me (it's their problem, not mine) but when you're called a bitch by your friends - that doesn't sit well and doesn't do too much for the old ego! Since I am very sarcastic, I have a tendency (a bad one, I admit) to make fun of my friends (and they give it back in equal measures). I joke with them about everything, purely out of love, but I have some friends that are way sensitive. Most of my friends can take my ribbing but a couple can't. And it took trial and error to figure that out! After being labeled "mean" and "bitchy" by some friends, I always try to watch myself when I'm around people who don't know me that well, who don't know that I am sarcastic about everything and I mean everything!
When I first started posting, I was afraid my sarcasm wouldn't come across. I would read everyone's posts and would know when people were being sarcastic or not but I was still afraid that mine wouldn't come across that way. I didn't want anyone to say, "That Lee is such a bitch! I wish she would go away." Now I know no one would ever say that, right?
Well, long post short (I swear, can I write a short post at all?!?! Maybe the next one) - Diane, thank you for reassuring me. I really appreciate it.

Since my last several posts have been kinda long and rambling (me ramble? Never!), I'm going to make this one short and sweet.
Short and sweet.
Whoo-hoo!! I did it! A post where I didn't ramble on and on about nothing. Yay me!! To anyone who thought this couldn't be done - nyah, nyah, nyah! Yep, there I go, reverting to a 5 year old's level. Just call me Ms. Maturity.
Damn! Here I go again! Why can't I throw out snappy one-liners like Patti? Why can't I just echo someone's sentiment with a simple "Great post" or "That's exactly what I was thinking." WHY, GOD, WHY?!?!?!
Leaving now to figure out: (1) where the hell this lame-ass post came from;(2) why I can't write a short and sweet post; and finally, (3) the best strategy for an upcoming trial

Lee says: "I know you are all thrilled to be reading yet another of my posts that is asking a geeky question about the essays. . . . And yes, I am a big academic dork . . ."
Lee, if you keep calling yourself names, you won't leave any room for the rest of us to have any fun!
But seriously, I cannot imagine anyone thinking of you as bitch, geek or dork . . your posts are always fun, and of course, the help you gave me on with that restraining order and finding a bail bondsman was invaluable! :-)
Having said that - we don't have any particular rules on the essays, as far as length goes. Use your best judgement; submit to Vlad.
This is not at all necessary, but IF you feel more comfortable with someone first reviewing a draft of what you've done as far as giving you an opinion on its quality and "fit" for the site, I happily volunteer for duty. My email address is now at the S'cubie email site.
I'm guessing others would volunteer as well, if there is a S'cubie you'd feel more comfortable with as far as review goes.
Other than that, I think Vlad would surely let someone know if they submitted something that was in some way entirely inappropriate - truly obscene (I'm guessing that's not going to be an issue with you, Lee) or totally off-topic . . . or way too bitchy, geeky, or dorky. :-)
Seriously, just go for it!
