On slayage.com today is posted a great series-end character analyis of BtVS. Everyone gets some coverage but the focus of the article is on who, Angel or Spike, has "the greater capacity for good." It takes a very thorough look at what we know about all of the different incarnations of Spike and Angel as both humans and souled and unsouled vampires and builds a very strong case for Spike as the better candidate to shanshu. It's great food for thought as we speculate about the next season of AtS.

Becky: Not only did I post this to Matthew but I emailed to him as well (wanted to make sure he knew how much we appreciated him and the wrap-up). I won't post the whole thing (but if you do want to read it, it's #2 on his wrap-up ;-) ) but I thought I would let people know I did invite Matthew to join us sometime on the S'cubie site. //... Your insights are the aspect of the board I will miss the most. Matthew, if you ever get in the mood to come talk about Buffy, come visit us (the S'cubie group from the Miscellaneous board) at www.geocities.com/scubiefan. When ScoopMe closes its doors, we will be moving over there to a posting board to continue our discussions of all things Buffy and Angel. Yes, graduation is hard. Friends are forgotten, contact is lost but sometimes....sometimes, you have that friend you keep in touch with. That you see on a regular basis. Perhaps, Matthew, this will be one of those times. Come visit us and keep this connection to the show and to your friends....// -Lee Hollins

Thanks, Lee, that's just what I would have said and I'm sure you spoke for most (if not all) of us as well.

Just posted this on the Ep. board under Matthew/Hunter's wrap-up. Sound ok? //Like I wrote to Matthew in my above post: //Your insights are the aspect of the board I will miss the most. Matthew, if you ever get in the mood to come talk about Buffy, come visit us (the S'cubie group from the Miscellaneous board) at www.geocities.com/scubiefan. Come visit us and keep this connection to the show and to your friends.// ScoopMe has been an absolutely fantastic site to discuss, post, read, etc... and I am heartbroken to see it go. However, a group of us (the S'cubies) that "meet" on the Miscellaneous board are moving onto another board when ScoopMe closes its doors in mid-June. Yes, our name is "The Soulful Spike Society" (or S3 for short) but you do not have to be a Spikeaholic to come play. We have Xanderphiles, Willow-fanatics, even a Kennedy-lover! We have a great time posting on all topics regarding Buffy and Angel. We do ask that everyone show common courtesy and respect to all posters. No "baiting" of anyone or anything like that. If I do say so myself (and I will), we have a GREAT group of people who are some of the funniest, warmest, most intelligent people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. On our website, we have analyses (Spring Summers does an amazing job - go read them. They're fantastic!), fanfiction (all of our writers are absolutely superb!), essays (very thought-provoking), and so on. So....if you want to continue discussing Buffy and/or Angel come visit us on the Miscellaneous board or on our website: www.geocities.com/scubiefanPlease come over and play!! -Lee Edited By Lee Hollins at 5/28/2003 12:37:00 PM.

Lee- great job. Thanks for representing us so well. I hope Matthew joins us now and then, and even as a contributing essayist.

Patti T. #353 It's weird - I have all the eps. But it feels more 'comfy' when I know some of you are probably watching too. I know the feeling. I think of myself as more connected when other people could be watching at the same time. They're carefully watching the same scenes, reacting to the same plot twists, and sharing my excitement. Simply put, I know I'm not alone. It more than makes up for not being able to pause, rewind or fastforward.

In Pangs, didn't Willow say something about her mom criticizing Thanksgiving Day as well, saying it was hypocritical? Maybe they just don't like any holidays at the Rosenberg residence. I'm very surprised Willow isn't more cynical.

Hey Lee, Sorry - Our email servers went down a few weeks ago here at work and, ever since, I haven't been able to send email from my personal account. It's only a problem when I want to answer emails like yours . To answer your question, I say just start with this last season and we'll go from there. The last season would be the most important and I want to make sure we at least get those. Thanks again , Rae

This is my piece of weepy, choice prose contributed to the comments on Matthew's sob-inducing final commentary: #24 Matt/Hunter--Thank you for your light Posted on 5/28/2003 2:24:58 PM By Nan Dibble Matt, the reason you can leave the light burning is that you lit it in the first place. Through Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the ScoopMe boards, a geriatric cranky grammar nazi ancient hippie pro fiction writer found a home, and friends, and a place and way to be and think for years to come. I echo the invitation of the other S'cubies to you (in particular) and all other posters for whom the series finale of BtVS is the end of an era but not the end of a special kind of love and thoughtfulness and relatedness. Come to us. Our light is still on too, and it's staying on, and we've made snacks. And we post up a STORM! www.geocities.com/scubiefanNan Dibble, Ph. D. Nan - What's this with the "honorary" janitor thing? You mean you aren't actually going to clean up after the snacks? Nice post to Matthew. All you S'cubies just do us proud, wherever you travel - electronically or by common carrier. Yes, when you post elsewhere you're polite, succinct, intelligent, generous . . . when you travel you're fun and adventurous and great at sharing when you return home. How'd I get so lucky? Spring, I know that when I love something and someone I really like doesn't love that thing, I am 'sorry' about it. I am sorry that I can't share that enjoyment with them, just like I am sorry that most of my RL friends don't like Buffy. I'm 'sorry' they don't get how cool I think it is.
THEY aren't the least bit sorry however. They're happily watching 'West Wing' or 'Friends' or 'Malcolm in the Middle' or some other show I could care squat about and being sorry I don't want to watch it with them. I think some of us were just 'sorry' we can't share our enjoyment of this aspect of the Jossverse with you, because you are so damned important to us and your opinion is so respected. You are the one who has given us such insight into Buffy with your wonderful reviews, and I'm 'sorry' and maybe a little scared, that maybe you won't feel that same spark about Angel. Then again, maybe you will, because it will be a new show, new feel, new place, new blonde vampire - or not vampire, whatever... Anyway, I don't think anyone here would want to or mean to be patronizing to YOU of all people. I mean, suicide, much?

We finally got the internet here in hell, and I just wanted to say that your recent analysis of Doomed and Hush are fantastic. Not only do you continue to find completely supportable threads in these episodes that I had never considered, but you have developed (perfected?)an incredibly enjoyable writing style that is clear and entertaining.
