Rubberband Woman - Welcome! We love new posters. I'm thinking we're going to need a nickname for you though, as "Rubberband Woman" is a lot to type. RW? Rubby? Berb? You choose!
Glad you have been enjoying the conversation.
To Serve Man - I didn't see the Angel ep, but this is interesting, because Dawn referred to that story as well this Season . . . I'm thinking it was the first ep, "Lessons." She said something, in response to Buffy giving her some advice, something like: "Yeah, yeah, I know - and To Serve Man is really a cookbook . . ."
Huh. What's it all mean?

wooow--woooow--woooow--(siren sounds)
"Lurker decloaking, lurker decloaking"
Well, it sounded funny in my head, and I get to be the first to say welcome!
Do you really want to be addressed as "Rubberband?"
Many of us started out as lurkers, but then we sunk down to the shadowlands and few have returned to the sunlight realms. (okay, sounding more like late Friday night here than 10:15 am).
Anyway, jump right in, we love fresh blood (especially Vlad).

Spring,
It's a classic, classic Twilight Zone episode (was it perhaps based on a sci-fi story, maybe by Ray Bradbury? Where is your resident geek when you need him?)
Aliens come from outer space. They appear to be benevolent. Help to end war, cure disease, etc.
Somebody finds a book and translates the title: "To Serve Man", which is at first interpreted to mean that the BAs (benevolent aliens) want to serve us, as in be servants. The twist at the end is that all the help is just to improve the quantity and quality of the "herd" (much like a farmer would care for his cows) because "To SERVE Man" is actually an alien cookbook.

Wonderful, wonderful report. I'm drooling on my keyboard. I LOVE hearing about how open and real JM is.
And GREAT "trailer/cliffhanger". More! More!

Sue - yes - I agree - I'm familiar with the Twilight Zone ep. I just meant, what does it mean that characters in both shows have now referred to it? Spring Summers

//Was that Vampires hate golf crack meant for me? 'Cause if it was, that was just mean. I liked it. :-)//
Of course it was for you. I couldn't resist. I meant it with affection, of course. Evil, mean spirited affection......

My sister just called, very excited, because she had read a review of X-Men 2 and wanted to make sure I knew "Spike" was in it.
Good Grief. James Marsden is NO James Marsters.

Are they ever going to update at btva-tabularasa.net?
Slayage has a report up on Patti's convention. I like her personal touch, but I would like to get into the audio links and my computer isn't cooperating. Any suggestions? (Is there anybody out there who might be able to send me the link in some other format, maybe via email?)

Hi - I don't see your profile up on the SSS Web site. If you are interested let Vlad know to send you a form to fill out. He can be reached at scubiefan@yahoo.com. We'd love to have you join the group. Purely voluntary, of course.

There's something I've been wanting to ask you, but I think it would be more apporpriate to do it off board. I notice your email address isn't on the Super Sloppy Secret S'cubie Site....or whatever they call that place where the addresses live.
Please understand that I don't want to violate your privacy in any way; if you'd rather not communicate off board I understand completely.
However, if it's ok, I'm sure anyone amongst the S'cubies that you've emailed with would be happy to share the site address with you.
My address is there. Could you please email me? I promise it's nothing freaky....I'm just frightfully curious about something.

I haven't even begun to catch up, so if someone already said this, I apologise - I had forgotten that there was a Twilight Zone based on the story by Damon Knight, which I read as a kid (geekiness starts early in my family). As I remember, the aliens appeared to offer solutions to all of mankind's problems, so maybe there's a direct correlation to Jasmine there. So, is Gunn a reader of SF, or does he just get it from TV and movies?
As for Dawn, it's the kind of story you get handed to read in junior high or high school, so maybe she'd read it recently (or seen the episode on TV).
Or maybe the writer that week just thought it was too good a gag to pass up?
I'd better go read posts, I'm falling behind. You guys are wondrous prolific!
Later, RW
