Interesting review, Havoc! I'm glad you reminded me that it is Galactica!Boomer that found the fuel ore. As you said, rather a coindence - and perhaps too big of a one. Although we are starting to suspect the allegience of the Boomers (are they perhaps a bit too human), it does make me continue to suspect that the sucessful fuel raid was perfectly OK with at least some of the Cylons. Because the (also) coincidental ability for Baltar to pick the exact right spot to hit - - well, I'm thinking Six had something to do with it. There's a larger plan afoot with at least a subset of the Cylons. The "lighter" scene between Apollo and Adama was interesting to me not only because of the typically (for these two) awkward, yet sincere, bonding. But also because, as you point out, how it highlights the doubts and insecurities that Apollo displays. Starbucks comment earlier didn't help. Although, oddly, it may help later when he (rather uncharacteristically) takes the extremely risky and unusual tactic of flying through the ore transport tube. Perhaps the combination of "don't overthink" advice and the pressure of knowing others weren't sure he could do it were the extra push he needed. Also, of course, it is one more confirmation of Vlad's (and a lot of us now) theory that Adama is grooming Starbuck for a command position. We certainly got a lot of preparation for the trip to Kobol. But, thinking of the original series, that doesn't mean we'll get there soon. References to it, to finding "Earth", to the "lost" other humans was present from the beginning then and yet we had a lot of adventures in between. I am finding the different versions and interpretations of prophesy and so on very interesting. One more way to compare the Human and Cylon way of thinking. Your ideas about Baltar and possible avenues to more power, second to Roslin or succeeding her, etc. were very scary and thought provoking. I do find it interesting that while many are intrigued by Baltar and still think of him as a genius who is doing the most to help humanity, everyone seems to pull back from him. Mostly because of his odd behavior due to Six, but also I think he just set up a . . . wrong vibe in people. Some are a bit fascinated - Starbuck for example - but fascinated and a bit repelled, I think. Loved your ending thoughts about Boomer and Helo. Eetah! The Caprica stuff has really got me wondering what the heck is actually going on! Lola Thank you again. The raid on the outpost did feel like cheese for the rats. The Cylons have a vested interest in finding earth; but, it ocurrs that they may not be able to do so on their own. My take on Starbuck up till now with all the drawing out led me to the conclusion that a lot of this was being done to get her over her physical and emotional ailments by engaging and challenging her. She has been growing to be sure. The relevance I put on it was the parallel between her and Baltar - both growing; but, in polar opposite directions. Vlad's commentary tends to give my feelings on the matter more teeth, and more relevance. So, I may have to look more seriously at fleshing out my observations in that light. Caprica, while starting out as a blip on the radar, has become something of a formative focal point in the story that just can't be ignored. I was initially thinking it was lending to the further subversion of Baltar and the humans in general by examination of the Helo lab rat; but, that just seems less and less likely. What seems more likely is that the Cylons are using Helo to gauge the Boomer model while trying to accomplish some tactical end with Helo himself. It seems well established that Boomer is the Judas model without a doubt. And even they seem aware of it. The question is what will they do with that? But that question doesn't by far answer the problem of Helo in general. There's gotta be a reason for Helo's use beyond Boomer or they'd have ended this long ago IMO.

The article has a few spoilers, but not huge ones (I read those). The big spoilers seemed to be in a separate column specifically labeled as "want to know what happens?", so I didn't read that one. I'm kinda hovering on the spoiler edge, I guess. ;D

I liked all the parallels that you have drawn between the characters. You're right when you say And there are no end of other parallels to be drawn.I like the set up that's been made for a show down between Baltar and Roslin. The hug between Starbuck and Roslin maybe showing which side Starbuck will chose? Starbuck seems to be a key player in the Cylons' Plan. We've been shown that Leoben and #6 are both intrigued with her and I'm sure her allegience is going to be a factor, altho I can't see her going against Adama or Apollo if sides are chosen. It's going to be fun to watch!

It's going to be fun to watch! Starbuck and Roslin looked like mother and daughter at that point. When it happened, in the back of my mind I was sayin "yup, there's that married thing again." LOL. Adama and the Pres just need to get it over with. Then again, might ruin the show.. Starbuck is pretty strong willed, so I'd say she could be a wildcard depending on the situation; but, I think whatever is the right thing to do will be the side she lands on. She wasn't real withdrawn from the notion of knocking Lee's lights out in that first meeting when she was in the brig.. So if the Adamas were in the wrong or in the way, I can't say I'd see her doing any different then. On the other hand, if she did buck them, I don't think it would be done lightly. She jabbed at Apollo pretty hard this time out; but, I think her gut will have her making up for some of that in her own way. The one thing that makes her a wildcard is the fact that she seems impulsive to the nth. Makes her a great pilot; but, add in some mood swings and watch out... Between Baltar and Roslin. I think Roslin has made it clear she doesn't trust Baltar at this point. I know how she's acted since he was jailed and released; but, that old policy of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer seems to be in effect. She rehabilitated him in the press; but, only to the extent that he was cleared of the charges against him. I don't see that she ever backed off of her stance over what her instincts told her about the guy. She may be a schoolteacher; but, she's an adept politico. Baltar is largely an unwitting coward. Roslin is anything but. And I get the feeling that she would gut Baltar like a fish in a fair fight. Baltar has charm to counterbalance his cowardice. And charm goes a long way as we've learned in real life situations.. So his capacity for damage IMO is more related to people's willingness to be charmed than to any inherent capacity for reason. If you circumvent reason, Roslin may lose. And therein is the danger.

So you were talking again about the tv guide itself, not a seperate book.. That's what I was asking.. My only disappointment was that my subscription copy didn't have BSG folks on the cover. It had the article and so on, but not the cover pic. **pouts** Every now and then they do that on the subscription copies (or some of them). I think they want to encourage us to also go and buy the other covers at the news stand or something. ;D Lola I will read and comment on your "Colonial Day" review soon, Havoc! There's just been so much new stuff posted, I can't keep up!
