I caught up (temporarily) and actually have something to say which I think has not been covered yet! Yeah me! (also, apologies if I went thru the posts so quickly that I say something that really was already covered)
1. Where was Wood? Nobody asked, but I know--by the phone where Faith told him to wait. Wonder how long before anybody remembers to call him?
2. Props to Kennedy (well, actually some of this has been said, esp one post by Anne D. that I recall). I still don't like her, but she kept her head in a crisis and put her life on the line.
3. minor, minor: I thought Caleb's accent was somewhat lessened, making him easier to understand.
4. Where did the additional Turok-Han come from? (No need to answer, it's really irrelevant, its' just that such a big deal was made up 3 previous eps about Spike's blood allowing the seal to open and the first one get out, then Xander's blood, then closing the seal with Andrew's tears. Now we find they have an alternate exit.)
5. Please do respond to this IF it also happened to you: (This may well have been a local affiliate glitch, but I'm curious). As Dawn and Xander were talking at the car, just before he chloroformed her, the ep was very briefly interruped by a Chevy commericial (about 3-4 seconds). Did anybody else see that?
6. Not only did someone repeat the "everyone is alone" mantra, the old lady also said, "now I'm alone."

DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! (this is funny to anyone who's watched Good Times or Martin, but oh well). I love CC. I understand her wanting to spend time with her family, but why oh why couldn't she work out an ASH deal (is it obvious that I love CC?).

If there's one thing I've learned lurking here for the past few months, is that you are not a shy woman!

Mary said: I may have said previously on this board that I find the crypt door scene from Dead Things to be one of the most powerful in the history of television, and one that sums up the B/S relationship so well. "- and the barriers are all self made..."
Yes, you did, and I agreed that it is one of my favorite scenes. In fact, I went out and ordered 'Golden State' because of that scene. I not only have to thank Joss for the best TV I've ever seen (such a small way of putting that) but also for introducing me to some of my favorite music.

David said: 'That's why we generally type two hard-returns, like I just did, to seperate paragraphs.'
Ohhhhhhh....duh. The other way is the way I"VE been doing it, with the cumbersome html.
But

There is not enough irony in the universe to encompass UPN's scheduling of the Buffy finale (the TV show which "wrote the book" on female empowerment) to be followed immediately by the premiere of "World's Top Model." Gag.

Okay, so it was handled differently in last night's ep, but as soon as I saw Buffy asking Xander to forego being part of the battle in order to protect Dawn, I thought of your story.

Nan said: 'So thanks, Patti. Good to know all my speechifying was not entirely wasted...if it gave you a laugh. (NOT being sarcastic!)'
But Nan, it didn't make me laugh. It made me CHEER, but not laugh. I took it very seriously. It was my own response (worded oddly) that prompted my Xander imitation.

In one respect can't believe I'm writing this) I find myself agreeing with James or at least I think I understand his point of view. At the time she was with Angel Buffy acknowledged him as her boyfriend to herself and the outside world. But when she was with Spike she treated him and their relations together as her shameful, dirty little secret. Of course it was still technically a *relationship*, albeit an unhealthy, disfunctional relationship that she was in denial about having. When Spike asks her what it is they have together (can't remember episode but think it was in the scene when he asks her if she even likes him) she tells him that they have no together, that what they have is 'just this' (bad paraphrasing from memory). When Clem asks Spike if Buffy has broken up with him again when he comes to his crypt after the AR Spike tells him that they were never really together.
Buffy gave herself completely to Angel. Yes, it was an immature, ideolized love. I entirely agree with Spring's characterization of Buffy's relationships with both Angel and Spike. I'm just saying that I can see how someone could say that Buffy and Spike were never in a *real* relationship - the kind of healthy, adult, mutually giving and taking relationship I'd hope they would eventually have this Season - but I guess it's not to be.

Mary said: 'Mary replies: Exactly what I meant! It IS a two way street. Thanks - oh, and I hope you saw my gushing post about JM's acting abilities after you (briedfly)thought I was questioning them last night with my Shatner-esque comment! :-)' I did, and I responded to your response. Now...you don't have to respond to this response to your response to my response to your post or we'll never finish this! Patti T.

AMEN Sue. (iron in 'Top Models' airing after Buffy finale) I'm going to try to cut the tape off really fast so it doesn't bleed over.

James,
I'm not going to attack you for your question. But....this is the second time (first was originally on the ep board in our oh-so-friendly-initial exchange: the poster (ha!ha!) child for how to recoup a friendly posting relationship after a disastrous start. Well, almost as good an example as Dave and the dog.) you have referred to yourself as "an old man."
So, did you lie about your birthdate on your ScoopMe profile (1974) or are you insinuating that 29 is "old?" Be very careful with your response here, Buster. (And you might want to check out my birthdate and some of the other regular posters before answering--our average age is well up in the thirties, although I haven't recalculated since we added several profiles.)
See the (mock) stern expression on my face? If you are old, what does that make me? You are a youngster, a stripling, you've got a 15 month old kid for heavens sake! You are Buffy to my Giles. Old man, indeed....I'm muttering and cleaning my glasses. (Reading glasses, which I have to wear on top of my contact lenses. Because that is what happens when you really get old.

Pay me no mind, Patti. I have Spike approaching an exploding airline fuel tanker with Kennedy inside fighting with the driver (in my story). I guess I didn't get all the fluff out of my head either while, or after, reading your post about my post, if that makes any sense at all.
No complicated disputations for me tonight (not that you offered any, and I am going away now and get Spike the hell away from that tanker).
