The Sox started using their hitting bats again--wasn't that clever of them... The Mariners keep trying that, but it turns out that there's a time/space distortion in Safeco Field that prevents the use of the hitting bats and the pitches that throw strikes in the same game. Except the ones that allow only fastballs right across the plate. Those always seem to work.

Bob Melvin on Ben being sent to Tacoma: "He wasn't happy about it, but I don't want him to be happy about it." Eye candy is one thing but jeebus, three hits in thirty-three at bats? It's raining, the roof will be closed, and maybe that alone will change the mojo. Julia, wishing that the double A (Anna and Andrew) would get off the fast computer, dern it!

Seriously. No foundation in reality, but there it is. And I wasn't wrong, anyhow. They can send away eye candy, for all I care, since I don't get to look most days, anyway.

While I now always hope to see the Mariners have won when I see baseball scores, I'm sure it goes without saying how hard I'll be rooting for them tonight. Modified to add: I completely understand the space/time continuum thing. The Sox have one of those too, turning their manager into a gibbering idiot in big-game situations.

Julia, well, first inning and we're not behind, nice change The best part is that the ESPN.com baseball page headline, right this second, is "At 41, Edgar Martinez is showing his age". Okay, the best part is the two runs. But I love the "In your face, ESPN!", too. Or, hey, three, whatever.

Julia, unfortunately Sam's watching "The History of the World Part One" and I can either have baseball on TV or computer but not both.

Feeling the Ichiro-love. . . .
. . . .and the umpire-hate! Danny SO got that tag.
Okay, I didn't see it, but the announcers swear that the call was wrong.

Oh, hey, check this out: Two nights ago, Jeter was out (something about his back), and they DIDN'T play A-Rod at short. Nope. Third base. Best in the game, but wouldn't want Jeter to feel threatened.

Oh. My. God. Jeter's that flipping fragile? What BS. Julia, A Rod's gotten all filled out and a bit pudgy of late. Ruben Sierra still has a face out of a kindergarten picture.

See, that's what I thought (about Jeter being a little girly-boy, no anti-feminist meanings intended ). I mean, WTF? You're gonna play a second-string backup at short, and leave A-Rod at third? Freaks.

Julia, inching up out of direness Yeah; smells distinctly of hope. Resist, must resist, too much danger there. Still, so much fun to beat the Yankees. And I am absolutely going to kill Dave Niehaus. That was one too many "A high fly ball, DEEP TO LEFT FIELD, AND EDGAR MARTINEZ HAS not done it again." Grrr, ARGH!
