Yeah; smells distinctly of hope. Resist, must resist, too much danger there. Still, so much fun to beat the Yankees. And I am absolutely going to kill Dave Niehaus. That was one too many "A high fly ball, DEEP TO LEFT FIELD, AND EDGAR MARTINEZ HAS not done it again." Grrr, ARGH! Neihaus is way overinvested in Edgar getting his 3000th hit this season, and what is it 400th homer? Julia, went to bed, went to sleep, got awakened at 1:30 by what sounded like a werecoyote, and still got more sleep than any night in the past two weeks

Oh, hey, check this out: Two nights ago, Jeter was out (something about his back), and they DIDN'T play A-Rod at short. Nope. Third base. Best in the game, but wouldn't want Jeter to feel threatened. ;D No, not Captain Intangibles--wouldn't want anything to interfere with his peace of mind. Truly, how sweet was it to see that baserunning fiasco? I considered taping ESPNnews just so I could watch it over and over... Needless to say, I'll be cheering harder than usual for your Ms again tonight.

Game's not over yet, but can I just reiterate how much the M's relief pitching SUCKS?
Grumble. . .Joel comes into the bottom of the eighth with a 6-2 lead, and the bullpen immediately lets go two runs with no one out?

Misery, thy name is Mariner... well, at least Edgar has 300 homers; nothing quite like round numbers.

16 flippersmackin innings, thanks again Eddie... Sometimes the Twins take their name too seriously: no, it doesn't mean you can have two runners on base, dear. Sorry, Rob. Not very sorry, though. Julia, two wins in a row is good, 16 innings is PAINFUL Aw, that's ok. I spent most of yesterday looking for that blasted broom.... I believe I said the Twins were a far different team at home.

No matter how bad things get this year (and my day started with the local NPR announcer saying "The last-place Mariners have a home game with Toronto tonight") all I have to do is cast my mind back to the days when our bullpen consisted of Bobby Ayala, and my mind clears...
Julia, the man knew an amazing number of ways to come up with a blown save

I don't remember him well, but I do know that ALL of my long-time baseball buddies in Seattle use him as the "it could SO be worse" example.

Can I just take a moment to be massively displeased with Gil Meche?
Who walks in a run in the second inning?

Can I just take a moment to be massively displeased with Gil Meche? Who walks in a run in the second inning? And is out of the game. The new guy with the hard to spell and proounce name is doing well, though, and let us give it up for John Olerud, Pat Borders, and Raul Ibanez, who are swinging actual bats, tonight, and Johnny O, running out triples two nights in a row. Of course if Toronto had anything like defense it would be more impressive. Julia, SCARY long second inning

I mourn the passing of discussion in Part 188. I waited and waited and finally lost my response to Nan, and now I have to leave.
I grieve.
