David- That is precisely why I have been at this board, the Buffy tapes, the email and the pharmacist( still sick) all day- i am hoping that Joss will manage to develop a movie that incorporates many of the ideas we have seen bruited about on this board today ( and re-unites all the cast *living and undead* to wrap up so many of the threads left dangling oh- and defeating that pesky Hellmouth in Cleveland It helps knowing there are others out there (like you) who are going through the same sense of incompletion and mourning and disconsolate loss that i am experiencing. ellie

I was thinking something along the lines of the fire and water elements myself, and the cleansing/purifying qualities of both. I don't think it would be very Joss like to waste a good nightmare on something that happened in the past -- much more effective to have it be about the future. Others have reported that Spike mumbled that he was drowning in footwear, which got me thinking: shoes--soles--souls? Sometimes, I think too much.

And it doesn't help that the weather is so ugly. Today is a day to just sit in bed under covers and watch your favorite episode/season of Buffy. I wish we were like England and had all of the seasons released on DVD already. Would be so nice! Today is an ugly, dragging day!

//If I had to choose, I would choose Harmony over Amy. I want Dawn. // Dawn I wouldn't mind. But god, I just can't see Harmony contributing much. She has nothing between those ears of hers but air, and then I don't even think she much of that.

Yes, I am in total agreement Dave - I liked Matt/Hunter's review except I also would rather have experienced Spike's death thinking that he was really gone. I would rather it had the gut-wrenching impact it was meant to have. I saw speculation that the whole WB announcement was a ruse, and Spike is really gone - but I don't buy that for a minute. Why would the WB screw themselves over by making millions of people mad with a bogus announcement, just to save a Joss-surprise on UPN? The WB did what was best for The WB - which I can't blame them for. Well - stay in that fetal position as long as you need to David . . . but start to straighten up as soon as you can. Let us know if we can help!

//I had not heard that harmony might be added to the mix// BUt I don't think Harmony brings anything of value to the show. Besides being a vamp, she's once of those idiot ones. If they bring one over, at least bring one over with some bite.

I agree that the episode was too short, and we seemed to get short-changed as far as character involvement - they went pretty heavy on the visual effects, which were great, and I'm not complaining. IMO, the whole ending would have *felt* better if they would have put last 2 episodes together in one big blow-out. Then we would have had everyone get their big scenes in, followed by the classic kick-ass ending climax. Maybe watching the last 2 episodes back to back would help - but, then maybe I'm just hoping it would. I just think the cast all seemed kind of sad - and it came across to us - this sadness. It was really James' night. Like last year, I thought it was Alyson's and Nick's. But what really choked me up, was the empowerment of girls all around the world - sent chills up my spine, and I'm not sure why. Sandy Shores

The WB did what was best for The WB - which I can't blame them for.// I agree, anyone who wants to believe that the WB announcement was just a bogus ploy to keep us thinking he'd survive and then we'd be even more shocked when he died, well those are the same folks who probably thought that after Buffy did her swandive in "The Gift" that it was really the end of Buffy and that the whole UPN thing was a ruse. You're absolutely right, Spring, the WB had no intentions of helping out their competitor like that, especially since UPN stole Buffy from them (in their eyes, in reality, they blew it on their own). It was really surprising that the WB and UPN allowed Willow and Angel to crossover this year (not to mention, Faith on both shows as well). James will be on the WB next season, that was no ruse. I thought the WB's timing of the announcement sucked, but whatever. Like you, I don't fault them for it -- they can't be taking into account how their actions might affect their rivals finale's imapact. That much was just business.

Me just switching between the board and allaboutspike.com. Reading Journey's for the first time. Needed my Spike fix after last nite. Was so upset and depressed. Couldn't believed how I cried while he was so efflugent.

Betsy - Harmony as an every week regular would probably be too much, but Mercedes M is a talented comic - she was very funny in BtVS - did a great job in her scenes with Spike. Also, Harmony is kind of an interesting character to me. Like Spike, she defies the norm in Vampiredom by having retained a strong ability to love and a lot of her humanity. I don't know if you've ever read any of my analyses over on the website, but my Harsh Light of Day analysis has more about Harmony, if you are interested. I wouldn't mind seeing how Harmony & Spike would interact now (I'm assuming that vamp or human, Spike is keeping his soul). With Amy, there is zero hook for me. I wish Dawn could cross over, but how would that work? She's a minor so she is in Buffy's custody . . . I suppose she could go to a boarding school in the LA area or something. I could just see her persuading Angel to let her get more involved, and basically turning to Spike as her main big brother/father figure. It could work.
