Oh my gosh, last night's Chuck was awesome!Chuck had gotten a bit hum-drum, but last night was wonderful. Chuck as "Rafe" ( aka bad-ass Fonzie). Zach Levi is fantastic. Wonderful. And the plot line becoming as much or more about Chuck losing himself to the Charles Bartholomew spy persona, Sara's conflicted emotions about that, and her wider realization that she no longer wants that for him OR herself. [Not terribly happy that's she's turning to ex-superman about it, but I expect that to resolve.] And, again, Zach Levi's acting of Chuck's dilemma ("but I am a nice guy") -- trying to do the right thing but hemmed in by the choices he has made and the role he is playing. Kristin Kreuk was marvelous -- so gorgeous, so effervescent, so wounded. But, yes, she had to go. Not happy with the kiss at the end, but I guess it makes sense. He must, of course, die at the end of this arc. Casey, awesome as usual. Naked Chest Awesome. Oh, the 2 wannabe side-kick guys, thinking that Chuck is Rafe. [And yes, the real Rafe would do exactly that -- blow them both away without a though. So no matter how much he pretends Chuck will never really be able to take on such a persona totally. (Casey might, even down to offing non-innocent bystanders, but not Chuck.)] Sarah's revelations about her concerns for Chuck. Shedding the leather jacket as the first step in shedding the persona. Did I mention that I thought this episode was awesome. And, really, not hurt by the absence of Morgan. And I'm waiting on pins and needles to have Chuck's secret come out. That better not be a total mislead. Loved the co-worker's reaction and editorializing of Chuck's lovelife. Casey owns me, tho. Love his big-brother man-love of Chuck. And yes, ex-superman must die at the end of the arc. Just as ex-Lana Lane had to go. I like how they are contrasting Captn Awesome's inability to lie to his wife to Chuck's changing persona and the way he's been able to lie so easily. Sarah put a lot of love into the meal she made for Chuck and his family. Which made it all the harder to see her turn to the new guy. I like how believably they have built up the struggle that Captain Awesome has been having until this most recent ep and his idea for he and Ellie to take off.

Zachery Levi directed this week's episode.
I covet him as a son in law.

Oooooh, Casey backstory! I love the Morgan is (once again) actually on to something real before anyone else is. Cool! Breaking their own security – a test that’s pretty much like a video game. Or Raiders of the Lost Ark. “Sometimes your dream job isn’t always what you expect it to be.” Preach it, brother! “You wouldn’t feel anything!” “But then I could work.” Damn, Chuck! Oh, damn. Damn damn damn. Chuck just said that, didn’t he? Told the general about Casey. Damn!! Treason, yes, but . . . it’s Casey! Doubt if they’ve fixed anything? Yeah, not so much. Ha! Captain Awesome and Morgan having a “if you knew what I know”-off. Do you know? Do you know? ;D Oooooh, Casey chose to go with Keller? Is he planning to try and take the Ring out from the inside? Or . . . ? “When three of my agents are arrested for treason in 24 hours, it reflects poorly on me.” Ha! Find and capture Casey, dead or alive. Interesting, sort of how earlier Casey was charged with killing Chuck if needed. Oooooh! A fiancé! Casey history, indeed! “What are we waiting for? Let’s go save her!” Yay, Chuck! “I don’t care who you were, I know who you are!” **waves yay chuck flag** Tic tac! Ha! And, of course, this all furthers the theme of “personal life versus spy life”. Ah, and the matches were code to tell Sara what she was facing – nice! Whoa! Chuck has the pill? This, I did not see coming! Ninja bullet-dodging Chuck! Chuck becomes Casey . . . smiling in the fight and just holding the guy up there by his neck and looking at him like he’s merely interesting. Dead is dead, it’s too late now . . . Second second chance, which is two more than most people get. As a civilian . . . start over again . . . he’s done it before, he should be able to do it again. Wow! OK, I did not see that one coming either. Casey gone (is he really gone?!) and Sara offered the choice to go (will she?!). Damn! Casey with his empty apartment and his poor little bonsai. Awwwww!

Cool! It’s a “see what’s happening now, then use the show to backtrack and see how we got there” ep! I like those. Ha! Nice comparison of the Chuck scene and Jeff and Lester – will they shoot or not? HA! Casey said bunk. “Can’t be layin’ hands on people. Not even Jeff and Lester.” “He’s not a man!” “He’s an animal!” “Like Jeff! But undulled by drink or drugs!” “I need to know if you’re mentally strong. Strong enough to bend, like the reed and not snap, like the Kit Kat.” Man, I’m gonna end up quoting every single moment of this ep if I don’t stop. Casey trying to adjust to non-spy life? Is hysterical! Breaking up the old crew? Not what Chuck wants, even if he does really want the “real spy” gig. Yeah, she’s grading you, Chuck. Very mission impossible. “Now get on the box and let Clarence put some new feathers on you.” God, I’m loving this! Bond music for Chuck . . . yeah . . . If they’d made, if Chuck had made a different decision before Prague. Or, you know, if you make a different decision now. And I tend to think this “if I’m a real spy, we can get together” plan is flawed. Quick thinking, with the trick with sneaking into the room behind the maid and into the bathroom and then pretending this was his room. “I’m a naked spy.” Heee! “Question is, you look cool, can you be cool?” Love them all suited up and meeting at the Subway. HA! “Mind you, there’s literally no way of knowing where this guy’s mouth has been before. Fire hydrants. Diseased animals. Puppets.” Actually, I imagine his spy training was of great help at that moment. Awwwww. What a thoughtful felony. If Casey is suspicious about the test, dude? You should be too. Ah, assassination orders. “Finding out what he’s capable of.” “If you tell him to kill Perry, he’ll do it.” And, yeah, she’s worried about his safety. But also worried about him being able to kill someone. “I wouldn’t even be here without you.” “Don’t say that.” Surprise! Decision time. That? Was an awesomely good fight scene in the men’s room. And then the “I’m gonna arrest you” and the chase and Sarah joining in, and here we are, back at the start of the ep. Except Casey did the shooting . . . awwww. The thoughtful felony pays off. And Sarah thinks he did it. Another secret, now just between Chuck and Casey. Why do it? He wasn’t going to, he’s not a killer. And Casey is. Not still in love with him. Because he’s not the same person anymore? And now that he’s an agent, off he goes. Away from everyone and everything. Or does he?

This week's episode? Wow. Intense. Three weeks until the next episode? Gah. Also, Casey, well, he'd say he's gone soft. I think he's just showing his more, um, human side - blackmailing the General, not just to get his own job back, but to get Morgan on Chuck's team. Hee.

I think it had to do with him seeing what it was REALLY like to have nothing else in his life besides the BuyMore. And he wouldn't wish that on his worse enemy, or even Morgan Grimes. He was forced into a position of empathy. And Chuck kept trying to help him out, and Morgan kept turning to him for help, so really, Morgan was instrumental in Casey being in the position to blackmail the general for his job.

He was forced into a position of empathy. And Chuck kept trying to help him out, and Morgan kept turning to him for help, so really, Morgan was instrumental in Casey being in the position to blackmail the general for his job. I think Casey's seeing his ex and his daughter got him thinking about what his life could've been, if he'd chosen differently. He's beginning to understand what Chuck is going through in trying to become a spy so he can be with Sarah, I think, and what Casey lost by becoming a spy, and that's what motivated Casey to kill the mole - he doesn't want Chuck to become like him, a professional killer. And he doesn't want Sarah to think Chuck is a cold-blooded killer, and that's why Casey finally told Sarah the truth about Chuck's red test. Casey has empathy, he's just buried it all these years. It'll be interesting to see how Casey behaves around Chuck and Sarah and Morgan, now that he has his spy job back. I don't think Morgan thinks the BuyMore is the worst place in the world; Morgan is proud of being assistant manager. He just wants to stay part of his best friend's life, wherever that leads Chuck, and him. I also thought it was interesting, and cool, that Sarah could see the difference between killing in cold blood because you were ordered to, and Chuck's killing Shaw to defend himself and someone he loved, and that she could make Chuck see why that didn't change him in her eyes. Although I think Chuck is capable of killing to defend any innocent, if there was no other way. I just hope he never has to find that out. Assume the IMHO, YMMV and all that alphabet soup, I hope this makes sense (and I'm sure I left something I was thinking out), and please be kind to my mistakes. Babbling now. That was a good episode.

“How’s it goin’? . . . Super! HA!
Chuck, Sarah, Casey and Morgan would actually be a rather fun team . . .
The classic “change to be what you think was needed to get the other person, only to find that they don’t want the changed version of you” thing. Although, I have to admit, it is a bit hypocritical of Sarah to decide that Chuck is not as good of a person, not someone she can be with, if he is – well, just like her and Casey and Shaw. I mean, they’ve all killed people, why can’t Chuck? Which sounds bad when you say it like that, but you know what I mean.
Captain Awesome. Living in a freakish bubble of handsomeness. Heeee!!! It’s funny because it’s true.
Nice continuity with the little throw-away joke about Casey’s “public indecency” history. Hee!
Suicide mission, Shaw? I gotta think that Sarah’ idea of “shouldn’t we try to learn what’s going on before blowing them all up” is one that should be listened to.
Lester and the Picasso of Creepiness are going to end up getting mixed up in spy business, aren’t they?
You know, it dawns on me that Chuck heading in to get Shaw is his real final spy test.
Ooooooooooooooh! Sarah killed Shaw’s wife? Damn! That’s nice continuity from her conversation with Chuck earlier and one hell of a plot twist!
Direct straightforward declaration of love. Finally!
And the Ring left Shaw there to be found so he would be a weapon for them within the CIA, yes?
Awwwwww! Casey tells Sarah to pave the way for twue wuv! Awwwww!
Aaaaaaand of course Shaw is gonna take Sarah, yeah?

Oh, nice twist! He wasn’t going to kill her and now it’s all “cancel the tank”.
Heee! Morgan and Big Mike and the guys spying on them and Lester all “I think Morgan is dying. I call dibs on his locker, its location is more prestigious than my own”. And of course that means the idea of leaving Burbank is toast, right? Right!
Ah, this is the companion piece to the last ep, where he asks if she loves him. And she does. So, it’s all going to go to hell again, right about now, eh?
Heeeeee! Everyone in the elevator, it’s like a Marx Brother’s movie.
Ha! I knew Shaw was working for them! Well, except that he still might be a double double spy and only pretending to work for them in order to finally wipe them out totally. Or something.
Morgan to the rescue, with the spotting staged fighting.
Um. Not to be cold-hearted or nit-picky or anything, Shaw, but the CIA isn’t going to be made to “feel the same pain” as him because the CIA is not a person. It’s an organization, a thing, and it can’t “feel” things.
Bang goes Shaw! Almost drown-y goes Sarah! Chuck saves the day! Casey kickin’ butt, takin’ names, and blackmailing his way back in and taking Morgan in with him! Happy ending in Paris!! Wheeeeeee!!
