I got a call from Hillary Clinton tonight; I was cheeky enough to hang up on her, though. Also, some group has a really nasty negative campaign ad that's getting some play tonight, focusing on Reverand Wright. Will I be glad when this over!

I voted! I could not believe the turnout. Never, ever, have I had to stand in line behind more than . . . 3 people, tops. I was about 20th in line, and I got there at 6:25, 5 minutes before the polls open. By the time I left, the crowd had probably tripled. Amazing. So - I dunno . . . all those polls made up of "likely voters?" How good can they really be? I imagine it's all a plus for Obama, as I imagine the "unlikely voters" are more likely to be Obama supporters, coming out of the wordwork to vote for this unlikely candidate. Also, all the talk about young voters without landlines that didn't get polled: Yep, you sure see that in a college town. I don't know what it all means for certain - but I'd say the time has come to toss aside the polls and the expectations and plan to ride the wave, wherever it leads us.

Landslide. #fingerscrossed# One possible interpretation, definitely - but right now, I don't have that much audacity with my hope. OK. Gotta get this all off my mind, and get to work.

Based on McCain's recent body language, I'd say even *he* is expecting a landslide. He looks down a lot, he shrugs, and when he smiles, it's nowhere near his eyes.

I guess, in their defense, they didn't know she'd died when they made the complaint. Doesn't make it a lot better. What's horrible, though, are the right-wing blogs (see Fox News, if you think you can stomach it) with posters saying BO killed his own grandmother to get sympathy votes. Lovely. The crazies really came out this election. I'm very sorry to hear his grandmother died. It's never easy to lose a grandparent. I cannot even fathom how difficult this must be for him. It's not just losing a grandparent--it's losing someone who helped raise you, someone who had a huge impact on your whole life. When I lost my grandma who had helped raise me . . . "devastation" does not even begin to cover it. And I was able to grieve in private and on my own time, taking off from work for as much time as I needed. I really feel for his family right now.

I'm hoping for a complete blow-out here, on the things I care about, because ballots can be mailed as late as 8pm tonight and most of the state is mail-in. Julia, voted weeks ago, haven't had fingernails since before the ALCS.

I heard that grandma did early-vote, and that as long as you were alive when you voted (i.e., it's not "the dead" voting fraudulently), then it counts. So at least she got to do that. I'm sure she wanted to be here for her grandson - to join in the joy, or comfort him in loss, but in many ways, I'm sure she will continue to be there for him - in his thoughts and memories and in all she gave him. She sounds like she was an amazing lady. To raise and love her interracial grandchild so openly and unconditionally was certainly a big deal back in the days when she was doing it. Rest in peace, Mrs Dunham.

Oh man, I can tell this is gonna be an emotional night, one way or the other. I just found out that my 18-yr old nephew did vote today. It's his first election, and I was worried he wouldn't get interested in it, being a typical teenage guy. But he did do it. I'm so happy for him that this election is the first one for him, and so proud that he did stand up and exercise his right. Now I've already cried once and the results haven't even started pouring in yet.

Is this where the election night party is?
Oh - this is just so . . . I don't even have the words for it!
