Hey, those of you who watched Olympic Opening Ceremonies, how was it? Is it worth trying to track down and watch a recording of it.

So maybe I'm having a tough time at the moment, but when I look at this it makes me feel so much better. I mean, what other med school in the country has view like this? More pictures in the photo thread. We have several almost exactly like that, at the moment.

I really want to get these shoes, but they are out of stock of the size and color that they want. They've been out of stock for a while now and their website says they are working on it, but don't say when they will be resupplied. So I keep checking periodically, to no avail. Sigh. Cool! What color are you jonesing for?

The ibuprofen should be safely out of the danger zone now, and I am going back to bed.
Julia, this planet needs better painkillers. I'm filing a report.

What color are you jonesing for? Black. I generally go for black because it tends to look newer longer. Also, it looks better for a variety of occasions, doesn't attract attention, etc. Especially important that these be black because I plan to use these shoes to walk around in every day, not just for walking or hiking, so I don't want colors that scream exercise clothing.

Makes sense. What about them is the major selling point, to you? (Looking for an excuse to decide I must have them also.

Great quote from Roger Ebert: I believe that if, at the end of it all, according to our abilities, we have done something to make others a little happier, and something to make ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do. To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try. I didn't always know this, and am happy I lived long enough to find it out.
From this excellent Esquire piece on Ebert.

From the comments: "This sounds great, worried about the "supergeeks" though. Wish one of the 3 was a normal fan." Define "normal;" define "normal fan;" define "normal fan who attends ComicCon." Besides, I don't think the point of the doc is to follow "normal" fans -- it's about the supergeeks."
