You're right! Tony was Antoninus. Ooops. My bad. Still doesn't detract from the-for that time-blatant subtext though. I *blush* remember when Spartacus was first released. That scene was VERY frank for the time. The only other one I can recall that was as blunt (again, for the time) was the scene with Peter O'Toole captured by the Turks in Laurence of Arabia. I was 12 when Spartacus came out (did I REALLY say that?) and it went right over my head. I'm watching SB&S right now. Had to leave work. Not sure all this blood is going to do wonders for my wonky tummy, but it really does illustrate how brutish and brutal life and people were back then. Amazing we made it this far. ;D And, yes, that scene from Lawrence of Arabia was also quite frank. I'm surprised they made it past the censors. Still, great movies do that: make it past the rules to shine.

Yeah, that Scottish accent is a bit . . . distracting.

I think I was supposed to start a thread for White Collar. I forgot. I'm sorry. I'll get right on that, right now.

And it's done. I'll make an anouncement on the bulletin board as well. White Collar is now open for discussion in the ILLLTv thread! And, yeah, it may be a bit late, but for those of us who DVR, is it ever really too late?

Gotta agree completely with the graphic quality of the show. Pretty darn bloody. ;D But, I am looooooooooooving Lucy Lawless in her role. I haven't seen the sub become text yet, but I admit I haven't caught up on it. I should have yesterday when I was home all day. So far, I like it. It's caught my interest and I think the acting has been spot on. In the original movie, Spartacus there was a whole dialogue of slashy context what with Spartacus being asked if he preferred fish or oysters. Good to see that they haven't ignored that whole aspect of the story. Oh damn! I didn't know you weren't caught up yet. I've been spoiling people on stuff left and right lately. The last two eps were REALLY gory. As far as the subtext . . . I 'ship Spartacus and his BFF so freakin' hard. I can't help it, between Lola and SPN I am a slashing fiend. ;D I'm ashamed to say I never saw the original movie. You're so cute! They do make an adorable couple, don't they? I love Spartacus' BFF. He's got the cutest curly blond hair.

Cool fungus pics! The black and white one especially. Julia, 2 1/2 hours in the dentist chair (but no root canal, YAY!) means no time for photography, even if it weren't raining, ugh

The census commercials crack me up.
"I can do it but you better get me my left-handed scissors."

All caught up on Spartacus B&S. I still rank episode 4 (The Pits) as #1 in the gross-out factor olympics. ;D
